View Full Version : Anyone Seen The Dark Knight Yet? comedyfreak 07-18-2008, 08:52 AM If so give us your review, I'm dying to know how well the movie is doing. TJL 07-18-2008, 09:05 AM Not yet. It's the hottest ticket in town right now. I think I'll wait a few days and see it at the beginning of next week when the theaters won't be packed. I am still dying to see it though. It's going to be big. Jude The Obscure 07-18-2008, 05:58 PM And I wonder how much of a spillover effect it will have on other movies? I know some theaters have set up lines specifically for The Dark Knight, so others who want to see other movies don't have to wait in the same long line. A perfect time to see a movie that you know won't be crowded! Mikado 07-18-2008, 06:00 PM maybe this weekend...but, its supposed to rain, and i prefer going to the Drive-in TJL 07-18-2008, 06:02 PM And I wonder how much of a spillover effect it will have on other movies? Forget everything you heard because it is everything and more. Your expectations will be highly exceeded. Like the Joker himself, Nolan's movie is completely unpredictible. Easily the best superhero movie ever, the best Nolan movie, the best Ledger performance, the best movie of the summer and the best movie I've seen this year so far. I went to the midnight screening. There were 5 sold out screenings with theaters that hold 500 people a piece - making it roughly probably 2500 tickets sold just at that theater. It took a half hour for me to get out of the parking lot. I didn't get home until 4 am and I had to get up at 6. I'm still running on 2 hours of sleep and I feel a little psycohic from all the crazy moments in the film but it was all worth it. Go see it now. InspectorExstead 07-18-2008, 06:41 PM i'm DYING to see it as well, but i'm waiting to see it next week. i'm sure the theaters will still be packed, but hopefully not as much. PlayOn 07-18-2008, 09:06 PM me, my cousin-in-law, his friend and my cousin-in-laws dad just got back from seeing it and was AWESOME!! a lot of twist and turns and action. i highly recommend it. heath did an amazing job as the joker. eltonfan80 07-18-2008, 09:47 PM I am seeing it tommrow i work at a movie theater and and has been so busy we sold today for the entire night at 1:30 pm this afternoon it's going to be even busyier tommrow comedyfreak 07-18-2008, 11:01 PM I'm hoping to see it tomorrow morning at the 9:35am showing. I'm hoping it won't be so pact being the morning show. CheersChild4life 07-19-2008, 12:38 AM This movie is by far the best Batman movie to date. It was absolutely amazing. Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker was far beyond amazing. I can't gush over this movie enough. It was absolutely amazing! Schmoopie 07-19-2008, 03:52 AM I was never a fan of Heath Ledger and I had no desire to see this, but now that all the hype has been going around, I want to see for myself if all this praise for his performance is just because he's no longer with us, or really "Oscar-worthy" Andrea mrs.gingerhinkley 07-19-2008, 08:29 PM This is such an amazing movie!!! I saw it last night, only because some friends asked me and all the time I was kind of like, Ug another superhero movie. But I went and it was sooooo worth it. I had never seen any of the other batman movies or cartoons but I was very impressed. Heath Ledger's performance grabbed me from the very beginning. The whole movie I was sitting on the edge of my seat and towards the end I almost cried. Well worth seeing for sure! catlover79 07-19-2008, 08:40 PM I think I'm going to wait awhile on this. Our local paper gave it 4 stars, and they never give 4 stars to ANYTHING!! I saw Batman Begins on opening night when I still worked in a theater, but since I don't anymore I think I'll wait for the DVD and check it out of the library. That way I can still see it for free. Heck, I haven't even seen the latest Indiana Jones movie yet. Ireneparalegal 07-19-2008, 08:45 PM There is so much hype abt Heath winning an Oscar for this performance yet, there was only one actor in the history of the Oscars who an academy award AFTER they died and that was Peter Finch. There have been at least 10 actors who were nominated after their deaths, but never won. I think the academy likes to give the award to a person who is alive, hasn't won or is very ill. catlover79 07-19-2008, 08:48 PM There is so much hype abt Heath winning an Oscar for this performance yet, there was only one actor in the history of the Oscars who an academy award AFTER they died and that was Peter Finch. The Emmys are more famous for honoring the deceased - like Alice Pearce (Gladys) and Marion Lorne (Aunt Clara) of Bewitched. Both ladies won Best Supporting Actress Emmys after their deaths (in 1966 and 1968, respectively). I know Jessica Tandy won a posthumous Emmy for a TV movie in 1994, I believe. Cactus Jack 07-19-2008, 10:37 PM Twas AWESOME!!!!!! eltonfan80 07-20-2008, 11:36 AM i saw it i loved it it was so awsome LucyCompanyPhan 07-20-2008, 10:42 PM There is so much hype abt Heath winning an Oscar for this performance yet, there was only one actor in the history of the Oscars who an academy award AFTER they died and that was Peter Finch. I wouldn't be counting the odds as of yet. Sure, there's a lot against it, but so far there's zero Oscar buzz for any other film this year, so as far as I'm concerned, it's The Dark Knights & Heath Ledger's award to lose. comedyfreak 07-21-2008, 03:43 AM I just got back from seeing this film, it was everything I expected. The film jumps right into things, this time we don't have to wait for Batman since his orgin has already been established. Best film of the year imo. Jude The Obscure 07-21-2008, 12:12 PM Looking forward to it, when the DVD comes out......I just don't go to the theater anymore--too many brats, cell phones, noisy people, sticky floors, etc. comedyfreak 07-22-2008, 12:42 AM I agree it's easily the best movie of the year. It's worth seeing again. Scoobiedoo30 07-22-2008, 10:49 AM no I have not seen The Dark Knight Yet but My dad want's to go see it comedyfreak 07-23-2008, 03:55 AM The Dark Knight Adds $24.5M on Monday Source: Box Office Mojo July 22, 2008 Warner Bros. Pictures' The Dark Knight added another $24.5 million on Monday from 4,366 theaters to bring its domestic total to $182.9 million after just four days. It marks the fourth-highest Monday of all-time, trailing just Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End ($25.1 million), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ($26.8 million) and Spider-Man 2 ($27.7 million). The fastest a movie has hit the $200 million is eight days, and it looks like The Dark Knight will do it in five days, or at the most six days depending on Tuesday's box office result. Made for about $185 million, Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins follow-up has earned $224.2 million worldwide so far. InspectorExstead 07-26-2008, 05:15 AM i FINALLY saw the dark knight tonight. wow. wow. wow. it definitely lived up to all of the hype i had heard. saying it was a really good movie is an understatement. it was a long movie, but it didn't drag on. and the two and a half hours went by quickly. i wouldn't mind seeing it again in theaters. Number 9 Dream 07-28-2008, 07:42 PM I've seen this movie twice already :D It was soooo good! I loved Heath's interpretation of the Joker; he far exceeded Jack Nicholson's, IMHO (although Jack was good in his own right). Heath really took it to a whole new level. TJL 07-28-2008, 10:55 PM :wallbang Have not seen it yet! Hopefully some time this week. It's getting harder to avoid spoilers online and in various print articles. |
