I honestly think it was kind of old fashionedly bad writing the way Stanley comes over so much and he and Dorothy don't usually discuss their son they had together. TV was notorious for years before the Golden Girls aired for making broken or lost relationships rarely get a reference in most of the scripts (example: we learn very little and hear very little of Andy'a first wife on TAGS) and the fact that it takes a lot of viewing to realize Dorothy and Stan even have a son out there somewhere makes the show's writing look old fashioned in an unsophisticated way. I know the writers had Blanche have like two daughers she rarely speaks of but it was more forgivable in that Blanche's husband she had the girls by isn't seen much and we could presume she doesn't want to bore the other girls by speaking of her own daughters a lot. If we apply reallife logic to the GG there is no real excuse for Stan and Dorothy not speaking of their son just about whenever Stan pops by unexpectedly (which is quite a lot). We are not supposed to think Stan's visits are time condensed and he mentioned the kid to Dorothy in a visiting moment we didn't see (time condensing could explain Dorothy not mentioning her son to Sophia). Of course GG really is just tv!

After a while writers start writing for the fans, the people who already know the back story, so there was no reason to mention Michael because everyone knows what happened that night in Stan's Studebaker. Not only that, writers don't usually add extraneous conversation that doesn't advance the plot. Most of the time when Stan would come over it was because he needed something from Dorothy, so to talk about Michael when he wasn't part of the storyline would have been wasting time.

Scott Jacoby was only shown in 2 episodes, and never was mentioned again. Not sure what happened to the son that he and Lorraine were supposed to have.???

In the first place, the last poster is correct that there was an episode in which Michael and Lorraine split up. However, in this episode, there was no mention as to whatever happened to the child that they had together. The person who the last poster responded to said that we never learned what happened to the son that they had together. However, it was never really even revealed that the child that Lorraine was pregnent with was a boy. In the episode in which they got married, it was implied that both Dorothy and Lorraine's mother wanted a grandson and so they were discussing boy names to give to the child to be. However, because there was never an episode that dealt with the child being born, we never learned the sex of the child or what happened to him or her after the divorce.

This is also a good point.....they were deciding to call it, "Lamar" and such, but who knew it was a boy in the first place?

There was a Christmas episode where the girls were home from a long day of Christmas shopping, and Dorothy mentions buying toys for her grandson, Robby. It's the only time I think a grandchild was ever mentioned, and I don't recall Kate ever having any children. So could this be Michael and Lorraine's child?
