What is the best SIDE ORDER to eat with FRIED JUMBO SHRIMP?

My friend just ordered something BIZARRE with her Shrimp,

Well, for me, personally. I perfer, french fries, as a side dish with jump shrimp. And, I never heard of someone, ordering ,"yams"!, as a side dish, when ordering this particular food item?

ive never tried it with yams, but, that doesnt sound so bad....they are great with French Fires but, also with rice.....actually, shrimp goes good with tons of things.......especially lobster! ;)

I like french fries and cole slaw with my shrimp. But people are different, so whatever floats their boat.

I've only ever eaten it with fries, steamed veggies and/or fresh buttered bread (or the garlic teabiscuits they have at Red Lobster - yum)!

I'd say you're right, I worked in a seafood restaurant for 10 years and all meals came with fries or baked potato. Most of our customers ordered fries with seafood and baked potato with steak. I've never heard of anyone eating yams with seafood until now.

I've had Mac & Cheese with it a couple of times and a secondary side along with fries. YAMS?

I didn't go with her, I heard her ordering it over the phone when I was talking to her.

i've never ordered fried shrimp myself, but i have gone out to dinner with my family when they order it. my parents usually get either a baked potato with it or mashed potatoes. my sisters usually opt for french fries. same goes for all seafood dishes they get. macaroni & cheese and yams seems like a very weird combo with seafood.

here in england we have a version of fried scrimp called scampi, whilst in the US it is known as fried shrimp. basically, its what we in the uk would call 'prawns' coated in batter or breadcrumbs and fried in oil.

there are some fish and chip shops that sell scampi and chips (or you'd guys call it fries) on the menu. i love scampi and chips with a wedge of lemon on the side and salt and vinegar on my chips. i love seafood myself, in fact, i'd choose to eat seafood and fish over meat any day

There is one place here in my city that offers those side dishes. Here is another sample of a place where a food critic stated they ordered those side dishes with their shrimp:

It depends on the restaurant. I love the mac and cheese at Logan's so I probably would order it with shrimp. Yams not so much. :barf: I just had shrimp on Monday and my two sides were a salad and applesauce. :crazy: It just depends on my mood.

That's something I don't cook at home, and fries and slaw are the options at most restaurants around these parts. :)

If you are going with FRIED shrimp, you mine as well go for the gusto and get the french fries as well. lol

I don't think I've ever ordered a fried shrimp dinner, but I'll get the Fisherman's Platter which comes with fried clams, fried scallops, fried haddock, fried shrimp, french fries, cole slaw and tarter sauce. It's a heavy meal that I eat maybe once a year, twice at the most, but it sure is good. :happyface
