TVFactFan 07-16-2008, 10:03 AM this morning show I was listening to morning on the radio.
"FLUSH THE TOILET HANDLE WITH THEIR FOOT"
LOL. I have never done that, anyone else???
Chocolate Moose 07-16-2008, 10:27 AM guilty. i have done that.
PunkyP0WER 07-16-2008, 10:43 AM i always do
Max Whittaker 07-16-2008, 11:02 AM Well, that's the last time I use my hand....
Nasty people....
BarneyFife 07-16-2008, 11:26 AM I normally use a piece of toilet paper.
TripperFan 07-16-2008, 11:53 AM I NEVER touch the handles! Always use my foot or use a piece of TP to flush. Also, after I've washed my hands, I use paper towel to shut off the taps and to open the door.
Otherwise, it's like you've never washed your hands in the first place.
Those automatic flushers freak me out but they're cool!!
Cactus Jack 07-16-2008, 12:08 PM I use my hands cause its the right way and also I would fall on my ass if I used my foot LOL, I LOVE AUTOMATIC FLUSHERS and HATE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT FLUSH PUBLIC BATHROOMS!!!!   Flush your **** and toilet paper, other people need to **** and pee and wipe their ass too
OH Nuts! 07-16-2008, 12:55 PM It is actualy smart not to use your bare hands because of germs - with a paper towel or a lot of t.p. over your hand.

Hmm wow I didnt know that, now I know why every bathroom in every bathroom I went to sometimes still had crap and pee in all the stalls LOl , sometimes with toilet paper, paper towels, soda bottles, not flushed
Brieannas21 07-16-2008, 01:06 PM I do it all the time if it's not the autoflush toilets, but sometimes I will use a tissue to flush and to open the stall door.

If you hold the paper carefully it slides off your hand into a trashbasket - thats what I do anyways. It is possible to do this without being a slob.
robyrob 07-16-2008, 01:49 PM i always use telekinesis - I don't want to get them germs on my hands OR my shoes!
catlover79 07-16-2008, 01:51 PM I do that ALL the time.
Ireneparalegal 07-16-2008, 02:08 PM I NEVER touch the handles! Always use my foot or use a piece of TP to flush. Also, after I've washed my hands, I use paper towel to shut off the taps and to open the door.

Exactly. Same here. I don't trust people and assume they are careful abt what they may have or smear on those things. I think it is disgusting to put one's hands on a handle that a child may have touched after wiping their bottoms and possibly having feces on their hands. Hell, even an adult may have that happen. After seeing one toilet handle with what appeared to have a smudge of fecal matter on it, that was the LAST TIME I ever put my hand on something like that.
InspectorExstead 07-16-2008, 02:43 PM i never touch the handles with my bare hands. i've always used my foot to flush the toilet just because of all the germs that are on there.
The Great One 07-16-2008, 04:53 PM I always use a 10 foot pole while wearing rubber gloves. Better to be safe than sorry!!!
Mikado 07-16-2008, 05:04 PM I dont do it EVERYTIME, but, if im in a public washroom with one of those old-fashioned low toilets, with the long chrome flush handle, I indeed DO flush it with my foot!
Karen64 07-16-2008, 06:42 PM Makes me wonder--how do they know this? From a survey, or hidden cameras?
Karen64 07-16-2008, 06:44 PM Oh, yeah, I use TP to flush and paper towels to turn off the water after I wash my hands. Being a nurse, I'm a little bit of a germiphobe.
PZelda 07-16-2008, 07:20 PM I never use my foot to flush the toilet, and people using their foot to flush the toilet is actually a pet peeve of mine.
Let me put this into perspective for you guys.
1. You have just disposed of your bodily fluids into the toilet. Chances are, your hands are ALREADY dirty.
2. Your shoes touch EVERYTHING, too. It's just as laden with germs as your hands are. The floors MAY appear to be dry, but who knows what's actually on the floor. By using your foot to flush the toilet, you are transferring germs from the floor to the toilet handle. Nice courtesy for the next person, huh?
3. YOU ARE IN A BATHROOM. Chances are, you are going to be washing your hands when you walk out of the stall. So, why bother to use the TP to cover the handle to flush or use your foot??
I'm sorry, guys, but I honestly do not see the logic in using a foot to flush the toilet. I go in there, do my thing, push down the flusher with my bare hand, walk out of the stall, wash my hands, grab some paper towels and put that on the door handle to leave the actual bathroom.
Brieannas21 07-16-2008, 07:28 PM The reason I do it is because, I do not want someone else fecal matter, body juices/ blood (i've seen it all) on my hands. My germs are my germs, so I do not want some stranger’s body fluids and lord knows what on my hands.
BarneyFife 07-16-2008, 07:36 PM The reason I do it is because, I do not want someone else fecal matter, body juices/ blood (i've seen it all) on my hands. My germs are my germs, so I do not want some stranger’s body fluids and lord knows what on my hands.
Even though i'm gonna wash my hands after leaving the stall, i still don't want to touch the handle. I use TP, i never use my foot to flush.
Ireneparalegal 07-16-2008, 07:46 PM A lot of public bathrooms here have the automatic flush, where you don't have to flush the toilet yourself. That makes things so much easier. However, for the businesses that still have a handle, as I stated in my other post, I will use tp or my foot. I am have seen fecal matter and God knows what else smeared on a handle. puke:
If I see something on the handle, I will try and find another stall. If that is not feasible, then I will use tp. If I DON'T SEE anything on the handle, I will use my foot.
dawsongirl 07-16-2008, 08:17 PM I do that ALL the time.
So do I. If you don't like it, tough. I'm not touching that handle with anything but the bottom of my shoe.
dawsongirl 07-16-2008, 08:19 PM The reason I do it is because, I do not want someone else fecal matter, body juices/ blood (i've seen it all) on my hands. My germs are my germs, so I do not want some stranger’s body fluids and lord knows what on my hands.
Plus the handle is already germy...who cares if you get floor germs on it?
Auto flush was a good invention. I hate the ones that flush while you're still sitting on it , but a good idea overall.
TripperFan 07-16-2008, 08:40 PM I always use a 10 foot pole while wearing rubber gloves. Better to be safe than sorry!!!
LOL - I just got a visual of someone suiting up in a full hazmat suit with a breathing mask for a quick pee!
Corolla 07-17-2008, 04:54 PM I never thought of using my foot. That's actually a pretty good idea.
I usually use my bare hands and then wash them throughoutly afterwards.
One thing that annoys me to no end is when people leave Urine, Feces and
Toilet Paper in the toilet instead of flushing it. I have even seen people
leave a whole roll of toilet paper in the stinking toilet!

Good man! Doctors' offices are the worst! Think of all the splashing during those urine samples!! Not to mention having to balance the "cup" on the sink while they're finishing up. Now there's where a hazmat suit would come in handy!! ;)

Oh Cathie, you just kill me, sometimes!
Chocoholic 07-17-2008, 07:19 PM I've never used my foot, but I do use TP to flush. I also wipe the seat with TP before I even sit down to do business.
Public bathrooms are disgusting. People can be so gross and inconsiderate! I'd really hate to see how their bathrooms look like at home

I know someone who works in maintenance and he told me some horror stories abt the bathrooms the customers use at his workplace.
First, he states the women's bathroom is the worst. The mention of feminine products, toilet paper messes, the liquid mess on the floor, finding actual dirty underwear in the feminine product disposal unit, and all these gross things. He says he goes into the bathroom every hour on the hour and no matter how clean a job he does, it becomes filthy easily. He also mentioned what I stated on this thread abt fecal matter, not only on the handles, but on the seats, the floor, etc.

And most of those people are adults. ohno:
PunkyP0WER 07-17-2008, 09:53 PM speaking of walmart, when i worked there briefly i went into the mens room to stock it with tp once and someone had smeared feces on the wall. it must have been a disgruntled employee because it was there again the next day and the next. gross!!!
i hardly ever use public bathrooms, i always wait til i get home. last year we took a trip to yankees stadium and the whole trip i never went once.
not only do i find restrooms filthy but i have "bladder shyness" anyone else feel uncomfortable being in a restroom and not being able to pee because of other people hearing. i know, i know, i'm weird.
i actually thought i was the only one who was like that until cosmopolitan mag. talked about it once.

My dad used to tell the same stories. Hell, it was on the walls! I understand being violently sick, but he made it sound like some people hit everything BUT the toilet! puke: He's happy to have moved on to fixing machines.

I worked in that field several years ago and it's true. Most of the time the women's restroom was worse than the men's. I found dirty pads everywhere and a couple of times, i found panties (that had no. 2 in them) behind the toilet. And believe it or not, like men, women pee on the toilet seat too.

Oh yeah. I believe you totally. This guy who I was referring to told me the same thing abt finding panties with "number 2" on them. I am sure it had to be someone who just had an accident or had bowel issues and just couldn't make it to the toilet, but it remains, the public bathrooms are very filthy. The only bathrooms that I have come across that are very clean are in the higher class joints and Las Vegas. I was impressed how there are at least two ladies who monitor the bathrooms in Vegas and keep them extremely clean. Those ladies don't leave the bathrooms at all, they are just constantly wiping down everything, making sure everything is spotless.
PunkyP0WER 07-17-2008, 11:35 PM nothing is worse than a port-a-potty

THE REEK!!!!
Ireneparalegal 07-17-2008, 11:52 PM It was just said on MODERN MARVELS (History Channel) there are over 200 germs per square inch on a toilet seat (on average) vs. over 6000 germs per square inch on the handle of a faucet.
Mikado 07-18-2008, 02:02 AM Thx Irene.....now ill never be able to touch a faucet again =_=
PlayOn 07-18-2008, 02:20 AM guilty. i flush the toliet with my foot. i hate when i wash my hands and i remembered i forgot to flush. that's why i do it. no sense in washing your hands again. waste of water/soap/time. lol.
