to CHANGE, just was too comfortable being a NERD.

He had a oppotunity to kiss Laura and then he FAINTED

He had a opportunity to go out with a Hot Girl because he helped her with Algebra and he was SCARED

He won all of Lou's money playing poker including his watch and then gives it back to Lou after the game when Lou was defintely going to keep all his money.

Just can't understand why the CHARACTER URKEL could eventually change over time instead of that silly sh*Tof walking into a Chamber and turning into STEPHAN

That silly sh*t is what people laughed at. If you took that away, what entertainment is there? It would be a bland show if a character changed so much. People don't change their ways in real life so radically, why should a character?

J.J. on Good Times...his antics were silly and outright ridiculous, but that is what people tuned in for (maybe not you) and wanted to see.

I'm talking about the character Irene, not the show.

Are you going to say-"IT WAS IN THE SCRIPT?-lol

I AM talking abt the character. Steve Urkel wouldn't be Urkel if he didn't do that silly crap. That is what made the character and the show funny. If they removed all that silliness, the audience would not watch the show. Sadly, it was the Steve Urkel show, not Family Matters.

Steve had a heart. He was not abt being mean to people. But I hear ya, it's like why be nice to someone like that.

My mom said that no NERD like that in real life would have survived in the public school system-lol

Hey, I survived. So have a lot of other people. Give us nerds a break.

And maybe Steve just was a nicer person than what you are? ;) Except to Myra. :(

He didn't want to take advantage of people. What's wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with being too nice, it has its advantages I'm sure.

He wasn't all too nice to Myra though in the end. But when you think about it, Steve's flaws were his clumsiness, his ability to annoy (not all, but many) people, and yeah, that stupid crush of his on Laura. But when it came down to it, his heart usually was in the right place. He considered breaking up with Myra in a seaon 5 episode, the one with the hammock, because he was affraid he was taking advantage of her, when he still loved Laura. And when he managed to make Laura lust for him through an aphrodisiac, he took the antdote, because he didn't want to take advantage of her either. So while Eddy and Laura, and even Carl, would use him for stuff, he never used anybody the same way.
