View Full Version : CABLE NETWORK RE-RUN LIBRARIES
jasonbigley 07-11-2008, 04:39 PM In the present day, we can obviously notice that the re-run libraries on different TV stations are becoming somewhat bleak. THIS TOPIC IS NOT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT VARIETY OR HOW CABLE NETWORKS RUN. I would like to know what your opinions are on this subject. Do you think cable networks are getting worse with their re-runs? No variety like there used to be? What do you think will most likely be aired in re-runs in the future? If you notice, re-runs from the '50s, '60s, '70s, and now even some '80s are dissapearing into a black hole. What also worries me is today in modern TV, there is a lot less sitcoms on and more reality shows and hour long dramas. Does anybody think that in the future, these re-run networks will be airing mostly reality TV re-runs instead of the good old sitcoms?
Please post your thoughts on this subject. Thank you.

Yes to your first question.
Yes to the second question.
Junk, reality tv and current sitcoms to answer your third question.
Jude The Obscure 07-11-2008, 06:38 PM Give this 10 years and you will see the current generation moaning and complaining about how they can't see reruns of shows they grew up on from the late 90's, early 2000's. Just you watch.
TVFactFan 07-12-2008, 05:44 PM Cable Networks have to change with the times, It sucks but IT"S REALITY-lol
Mr. Television 07-12-2008, 05:47 PM I wish we can drop cable channels that change with the times. They changed their minds about who they are...why can't we change our minds about having them on our lineup? lol

Good Times
Jeffersons

Now in 2008 I can only see shows like this on my local tv stations
ANYTHING PAST 1998

Yeah, have cable a la carte. Pick and pay for those channels we actually want to have on our line-up. ;)

I couldn't even watch N@N in the mid to late 80's because my Nickelodeon channel was shared with A&E. As soon as 8pm came around Nickelodeon was switched over to A&E. It wasn't until the early 90's that I got 2 seperate channels. I always seem to get these channels after their glory days. TV Land I had for about 2 years before they sold out. Before that I had waited a long time for my cable company to pick it up. Now I barely even watch it. lol

I'd get rid of all those MTV and VH-1 channels. I have about 10 of them and I've never watched any of them.
TVFactFan 07-12-2008, 06:12 PM I can see Comcast saying this if you wanted to delete channels from your service
"KEEP IN MIND YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE OPTION,, NOT SO MUCH THE CHANNELS"

Me too! I'd also get rid of those double channels. Does anyone else have that where you have TVland on channel 75 and again on channel 114 because of the tier package or the digital box you have? I have at least 10 double channels. What a b*tch when surfing the info guide.

That's like with the NFL Network. I had to get those other sports channels just to get it and I don't watch them. lol

I always felt a sexy cable package would be getting the opportunity to watch local channel in other cities

Amen brother.
megamanj2004 07-15-2008, 01:15 PM I think it's just these corporate companies just patty-caking shows to their other branches of other channels b/c they don't want to pay the money to acquire other shows or even shows that haven't seen the light of day.
They figure that its cheaper to shove some of the shows they already have to other channels.
Or it could be that they're trying to "HIDE" history from us, like GSN sometimes does.
