He was thought to have given a large portion of his gains to Hasidic communities. He was apparently nicknamed the "Robin Hood Rabbi" because of this.

I'm pretty sure one of the last lifetime airings of this case had a text update at the end of the segment stating he'd been caught.

I was curious what he did with the money since the LE officer in the segment mentioned that they have no proof that he profited off of the money he stole. I was under the impression he was stealing money from other Jewish community members. Am I wrong? It would be pretty odd if he stole money from Jewish members only to give it away to other people in the Jewish community.

He'd be 84 now. So.. There's decent odds that he's dead. I'd assume that he never left Israel after serving time there.

Pretty sure the US, Canada and England wouldn't allow him back in.
