I kinda thought that it was because on The Mary Tyler Moore Show Mary was always perfect, and Rhoda was always coming out less perfect than Mary. So, how mary perfectly threw her hat up in the air, Rhoda's blew away. Then she kinda did that roll the eyes thing and put it back on her head.
