I saw Courtney Cox on Family Ties as Lauren for the first time tonight. When it was in reruns a few years ago the later seasons with her were skipped. Which girlfriend of Alex do you prefer, Ellen or Lauren? I definitely prefer Ellen. Courtney Cox is OK but she doesn't compare to Tracy Pollan. Tracy is a better actress and a lot better looking.

I prefer Ellen.

Ellen all the way. I thought Courteney Cox's character was a bit annoying. They acutally wanted Tracy Pollan to sign on to do the show for 2-3 years, but she wanted to move back to New York to be closer to home.

Ellen, of course!! I think it's great that Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan are still married. They've got to be going on 20 years now, right?

Tracy Pollan is really pretty, but not in the typical Hollywood sense. Ellen really looked like the girl next door. Also, I think that Tracy is a far better actress than Courtney Cox.

Since Alex and Ellen are married in real life, I'm going to have to say Lauren

I voted for Ellen. I think the character of Ellen was a much better foil for Alex than Lauren and therefore made for better and more interesting stories. I Also think there was better chemistry between Michael J. and Tracey then there was between Michael J. and Courtney.(apparently in real life as well.lol!):wave:

I loved ELLEN so much more! Back when the episodes were still airing on TV for the 1st time, I remember being kinda sad/mad about him getting w/; Lauren & wished Ellen never left the show.

I really like some of the episodes with Lauren. I think that Courteney Cox is a great actress, but I chose Ellen because they did have great chemistry together and they very really cute. The Real Thing is one of the best episodes of the series.

Ellen had better chemistry with Alex (and it's understandable why), but I do think Courteney Cox suffered a little bit from playing a bland character with not much to work with..which isn't really her fault.

I think Lauren and Alex had good chemistry in their first two-parter episode, but it was like the writers did very little to develop that in later episodes rather than just have Lauren tag along with Alex wherever he went.

Ellen, however, got come good material, especially in the episode where Alex becomes her teacher and she purposely begins to press his buttons. Plus, their initial two-parter episode was two of the better episodes of the series.

All in all, I think Lauren got a raw deal. She didn't have a chance no matter what she did to win the audience over after Ellen left.

So, to answer the question, both were beautiful, but Ellen had a certain flair to her that Lauren was lacking, so Ellen gets my vote.

i agree with you Mike. Tracy was such a natural actor, made it look seemless. Courtney seemed far less natural, and far less sincere. i know Tracy has a background in theatre, and iv'e noticed that actors with a theatre background are typically the best ones. The best in my opinions are the ones who you forget are acting. They're so natural that it seems 100% real.

i also think that the reason it seemed so natural is because it was. Tracy had true feelings for Michael, as did Michael for her. Not the case with Courtney. That's something that can't be faked!!
