I recorded the episode Tor Between Two Lovers on nick at nite, and also saw the episode on youtube from abc family and I noticed somting. Nick cut out the scene where Rachel can't find Richie and it turns out he and Carl were reading the paper and Harriet suggests she buys a baby monitor. I also noticed when Steve is talking to Eddie about how to know if a girl likes him, abc family cut out the part where Eddie asks Steve what kind of signs he sees and Steve said how she always compliments him and touches him alot and Eddie says stuff like compliments are good.

Does anyone else notice anymore scenes? I know they removed many cold opens from season 2 and abc family only had like 3 episodes without them.

In "The Science Project" Nick cuts out a scene where Laura says she's going to call 911 about Steve's atomic bomb and looks for the phone. In the ABC Family version, she tracks the cord to the closet and finds Eddie inside talking to a girl. On Nick the entire thing is cut. She starts to look for it then we see the next scene which is Rachel coming down the stairs as an angel.

The cold opens have been removed on Nick so far from "Dedicated to the One I Love", "Fast Eddie Winslow", and "Busted".

"Son"

Cut from ABC Family: Steve teaching Carl Korean and then later Carl yelling at Steve to leave. Little part of Eddie and Laura's convo as he sneaks out of the house.

New on Nick: Eddie giving Jolene a "chest hair" update over the phone. A few lines as Eddie talks to Harriette as he's packing to leave(both of which I had never heard before).

Commercial breaks were in weird places vs. ABC Family.

It was on ABC Family, but it's not on N@N(the part where he tries to teach Carl).

"Choir Trouble"

Cut from ABC Family's version: Beginning of the open when Carl first yells they'll be late as usual and Richie comes in with grape juice spilled on him.

New on Nick: A couple of lines when Rachel is telling members of the choir how to change and Harriette injects.

These Family Matters episodes seem very similar to what locals and TBS/WGN aired. Can anyone confirm this?

OK got it. I was just confused. You should say cut from "abcfamily" meaning that scene was NOT on abcfamily.:)

I only have a few TBS episodes from Season 6. When we get there on Nick then I can compare.

Nick's episode are running right at 21 minutes, ABC Family's ran about 21:30(including their shortened credits and long theme).

Anyway, didn't see much difference in either episode tonight. Only a couple of lines and small stuff either cut or added from the ABC Family version. Did notice the commercials in "Old and Alone" were in odd places though.

Yeah, Nick at Nite had a much better spot for their commercial break. ABC Family's was right between when Laura was waking up from her dream, and it didn't seem right.

Yeah, rub it in why don't ya?! lol just kidding! But its also kinda good, because after you see the eps over and over, seeing new lines are kind of cool!

Another one from Life of The Party, Nick cuts out the part where Steves drunk and say "dee plane boss, dee plane"!

Bowl me Over- Nick removed the part of the cold open where Carl walks in and sees Steve's life size cardboard cutout and says, "Oh my God! There's two of them"! And the part where Harriet tells Laura to get Eddie because they're having a rematch.

I noticed that but I was REALLY happy to see the scenes that ran over the credits at the end of "Car Wars" and "Hot Wheels"(though the latter was talked over at the beginning), the best part was shown. I missed those on ABC Family, looking forward to seeing more.

More ads=more money. :( Every show in syndication is edited(some networks edit shows differently as evidenced by this thread), but in the end they are all edited in some way. Now a days a primetime sitcom only runs 21 minutes on the networks(which is about what the syndication length is for these older shows, which ran 23-24 minutes originally as late as the late 90's on network TV).

I agree. The USA is where the episodes first aired, we should get to see them in their unedited form! By the way, you were right that Judy wasn't at the end of Driving Carl Crazy when everyone came out of the isetta. EVERYBODY ELSE DID! Even Rachel and Richie!

It just makes no sense to my European mind. Shouldn't the TV shows be more important than the comercials? Over here in Sweden, we didn't even have comercials on TV until twenty years ago, and many people still complain about them. Or at least my father and my brother still do. Neither of them seem to be able to lift their butts off the couch and do something else during the breaks either, like I always do. No, they just stay there and complain. But many Swedish channels have no comercials at all. TV4 Komedi, the channel I watch these sitcoms on, is one of them, even though TV4, its mother channel, have comercials. And even on the channels, that have comercials, all episodes of all shows are always complete, as far as I know. And that's what it should be like, because we want to see the whole thing!

Hey, those are my videos.

That's also the versions TBS and WGN ran over the years. Mostly what is cut from the extended theme is just old clips of the show, that doesn't bother me so much. I'll glad take the original closing credits for the short theme.

I thought they were! I'm not saying it's you're fault that they cut the theme. It was good of you to put them up. Any chance you'll add the season 1 short theme? And you're right, season TWO only takes the clips awway, and part of the bike scene and family at the end. But season 1 and 3 cuts all the scees shorter then the longer theme. This is the long season 3 theme, you'll notice how much of the cast intro scene is cut.

Scenes from a Mall:

Nick cut the cold open when the mall warns everyone Urkel is arriving and then it shuts down and he makes a comment about the mall being closed everytime he comes.

Rock Enroll:

At the end of the cold open after Urkel's fan goes haywire, Waldo has an I told you so type line that was cut.

Also seemed to be a couple of other weird edits.

Yeah you're lucky. So are commercials only one minute long in Sweden? We have like 5 minute commercials!
We usually have five minutes breaks too. But we're still mostly able to keep one episode of a sitcom at a 30 minutes length. But that's only American sitcoms. Brittish sitcoms, like "Allo allo" and "Keeping up appearances", which originally had no comercial breaks (Brittish people aren't too keen on comercials either), may have to run 35 minutes, if there's going to be a comercial break, because the episode originally already was 30 minutes long. But it seems like we in Sweden rather cut the comercial breaks short or let some TV shows get a five minutes longer slot than edit the episodes.

Like a Virgin:

In the cold open, Nick-at-Nite cuts the part where after Steve's helmet goes beserk on Carl's head, Carl yells at him leave and after he does he's holding the helmet still and it starts to act up again before he drops it and then in the ABC Family version the credits roll.

On the other hand, we got a long scene at the end over the credits with Steve and Myra. The beginning was cut off as usual but a large part of it was not.

Yes, I'm complaining because they aren't putting their commercial breaks where they are suppose to be. They are going to commercial in odd places, just like BET. And the part that they cut last night was an important part because that’s one of the main reasons why Laura was so upset and the reason why Carl was so pissed off.

While it does bug me a bit, I've seen worse(and I wasn't surprised they cut the N-word out). ABC Family forced commercials into weird spots too(and they had 3 vs. 2 which is what Nick-at-Nite has). They would go to a break with no warning at all whereas at least Nick plays a short piece of music to warn you.

Oh and watching TV Land right now, boy have they changed. Commercials being put in weird places and the credits are now like ABC Family. At least Nick-at-Nite has kept Family Matters in tact even though they do talk over some of it.

I did not see it that much on ABC family, only sometimes when I was home from work. But watching it now on N@N it looks choppy at times. They will play the "going to commercial" music and it doesn't, it goes to the next scene, So in the next scene, it's cut short because they're putting commercials in odd places. I understand that they have to air more or longer commercials but it's annoying at times. Thank goodness for DVR's

I had a copy from TBS of "Paradise Bluff" from about 10 years ago and just did a rough comparision. It ran roughly 30 seconds longer on TBS but despite that N@N had a scene TBS did NOT have(along with a small cut).

Nick-at-Nite cuts a little of Laura's "Hiya Scott" scene but it's nothing major. The big thing is TBS did not have the scene N@N had near the end where Harriette talks to Mother Winslow about Carl. TBS only has Carl talking to her. There had to be something else Nick-at-Nite cut but it didn't leap out of me.

I also have "The Looney Bin", "Beta Chi Guy", "Sink or Swim", and "Par For the Course" from TBS which I'll be checking out soon.

Interesting, Nick-at-Nite didn't shrink the credits for 3 of the 4 episodes tonight from 2-4(although they did for 2 of them which first aired at Midnight).

They had been shrinking the credits for all the 2-4 episodes of FM on Saturday Nights before this week.

What's weird is that the only episode at 8:30(when they don't shrink the credits) that had that theme so far was also shrunk(it's the only episode at 8:30 they've done that). I have a copy of it from TBS but it would be nice to hear it(I'm gonna have to buy a new mic to record the sound to put on YouTube).

BTW I found a huge torrent file with pretty much every single episode of the series. I'm going to download a few at a time(it appears to be ABC Family and some local station's copies), and do some more comparing to Nick-at-Nite's editing. I'm starting with episodes N@N skipped.

Lol to bump this thread! BET showed a bunch of scenes ABC Family cut out in Laura's First Date. They cut the part where Laura asked Rachel how old she was when she 1st started dating, and a part where Eddie came into Leroy's and told Laura Urkel was looking for her, and Penny was flirting with Eddie.
