Nicole Kidman has given birth to a baby girl, her spokesman said.

A statement released on behalf of Kidman and her husband Keith Urban said that the child has been named Sunday Rose Kidman Urban.

Her spokesman said that both mother and daughter were doing well.

The statement, released in the United States, said: "Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted to announce that Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl on Monday morning July 7 2008 in the United States.

"Sunday Rose Kidman Urban weighed 6lb, 7.5oz. Husband Keith was by Nicole's side and mother and baby are very well."

The child was born in Nashville, Tennessee.

The 41-year-old actress has two adopted children with her former husband Tom Cruise.

Kidman previously revealed how she lost a baby in the early years of her marriage to Cruise.

The Hollywood star and Cruise decided to adopt after the "traumatic" miscarriage.

The actress told Vanity Fair magazine she "had no regrets" about the 10-year marriage, which ended in divorce in 2001.

i am so happy for her congrats

i know that people have criticised the choice of name for her child, but it's her decision. although one would argue the implications once he grows up; hence, he'd get bullied and taunted at school

I was a little suprised with the name Sunday. I must say that although Pilot Inspektor is out there, one female entertainer named her son Audioscience. I **** you not. Congrats Nicole and Keith!!!
