WAUKESHA, Wis. - A 52-year-old Milwaukee-area man has been accused of faking heart attacks to avoid paying restaurant bills and cab fares.

Police say the Waukesha (WAWK'-uh-shaw) man took a cab to a mall Monday and pretended to have a heart attack. The cab driver left unpaid.

Authorities say the man then ran up a $23 bill when he had a steak dinner at Applebee's. He again pretended to have a heart attack.

This time the fire department took him to a hospital. A doctor there recognized the man as having pulled the same stunt in the past few weeks.

He was charged Thursday with defrauding a restaurant as a habitual criminal. He could get up to nine months in prison and a $10,000 fine.

"I'm coming to join you, Elizabeth...with a million unpaid bills in my hand! This is the big one!"

I don't think even Fred Sanford would sink this low.

I'm going to Applebees with a friend next Saturday. She is a friend from ten years ago. I haven't seen her in a long time. I am really looking forward to it. And now I know how I am going to get out of paying the bill.

Greeeeeeaaat. I saw an episode of "Three's Company" that had this same kind of scenario.

What's really sad is that Redd Foxx did his faking a heart attack so much on the show that when he did have a real heart attack on the set of another show, people thought he was putting on an act! This is what killed him, because help arrived a little too late. :( Boy cries wolf = Sanford cries "the big one".

With the thread title, I expected to read something like this...

WAUKESHA, Wis. - A 52-year-old Milwaukee-area man has been accused of watching his "Sanford and Son" DVDs too many times. He could get up to nine months in prison and a $10,000 fine.

"Sanford and Son" isn't the greatest show in the world, but dang the penalties for watching DVDs of shows you like these days. It's tough.
