A while back, I posted a message titled "Hazel". In between then and now, I posted one titled "Pantyhose". Both of these posts were about the enjoyment that I found in listening to the interview of the beautiful and talented Hazel Shermet! To my surprise, neither of these posts have any responses! Well, at about the same time that the interview with Hazel was conducted, there was one by her husband Larry Rhine. This interview took place very shortly before his death in 2000. Being that I am a heterosexual male, it was human nature for me to be far more interested in hearing the interview by the female. However, in between the time that I heard her and the present, I, for want of something more interesting to do, listened to the one by her late husband. One thing that I found quite interesting was that he talked very little about his marraige to Hazel. One top of this, it was interntesting to hear him talk in the present tence about people who, like himself have since died. These people included Carol O'Conner and Nell Carter. He also talked surprising little about his time as a writer for "Gimme a Break!" And he did not mention "at all" any of the three occasions in which his wife appeared as a guest on the show! Even when Hazel herself was interviewed, she only gave a "very" brief mention of one of her three appearances. This is the one in which she played Rita the Saleslady in "Mom's Birthday". My favorite of her three episodes on this show was "The Emergency"! I thought she did a "great" job of playing a busybody on a pay phone! I "really" enjoyed seeing her put her hand on her hip and trying to act so hotsy totsy! It was "halarious" to see this petite and dainty lady in heels and stockings be made to go charging after her purse!

I read your original thread regarding Hazel Shermet and I wracked my brain trying to figure out where I knew her from. I actually forgot about it until this latest thread and finally decided to look her up on IMDb. She was the voice of Henrietta Hippo on the 1970's kid's show The New Zoo Revue.

I am "very" happy to see that someone has "finally" responded to one of my posts! I am also glad to see that someone other then myself had enough interest in Hazel Shermet to do some research about her. This poster is absolutely right that she was the voice of Hennreatta Hippo in the "New Zoo Review"! I thought that this was a "great" show for little kids! Also I thought that it was very fitting that this reality was pointed out by the last poster who is from the South and Hennreatta is supposed to be a real Southern Belle. In any event, I am still very interested in what other fans think of the three parts that she played during the first two seasons of "Gimme a Break!" Until next time folks!

On many occasions, I have posted messages on this site about how fond I am of Hazel Shermet in general and how good I think she looked in her old age in particular. Well, over on the "Mad About You" section of this site, I just finished posting a message about another babe who I thought looked great as an older woman! This actress is named Cynthia Harris and she played Paul Buchman's mom on that series. The thing that I consentrated on in that message was how good her butt looked in a pair of designer jeans! Wow! I thought that she looked almost as good in jeans in her sixties as Hazel looked in heels and stockings in her sixties. Another character on that she that I thought had a great looking butt was Jamie's friend Fran. I thought that she looked like dynimite in either jeans or a skirt with hose. Oh the memories!

If what the last poster is saying is that he or she does not remember a character named Larry on "Gimme a Break!" that is because there was not one! However, in the episode known as the "Emergency" Hazel Shermet played the part of a woman named Mrs. "Larry" Rhine. This was in recognition of her real life husband who was still living at the time but who passed away back in year 2000. Hazel, like many women of Hollywood kept her maiden name when it came to her credits. However, once she got married her real last name was Rhine. This was her second of three appearances on that show. She played a different person it each episode. In "Mom's Birthday" she played a saleslady named Rita. In "Nell Goes Door to Door" she played a woman at a party whose skirt got sucked up by a vacume cleaner! In any event, I have had a lot of admiration for her ever since I was twelve years old. The reason that I started this thread was to stimulate some conversation about this fine lady! In my last post on this thread, I compared her to two other women who I felt also looked very good in their old age. These two actresses are Cynthia Harris and Blythe Danner. My post about them on this site are on the "Mad About You" and the "Will and Grace" pages respectively. The last time that I checked, neither of these threads had any responses. However, after I submit this post, I plan on going over to those pages and seeing if there are any by now. Also, one of the things that I mentioned about Cynthia was that she had a very attractive butt that looked especially nice in designer jeans! Wow! Well, just in case anyone wants to know my opinion, a woman with one of the sexiest rears around is Lea Thompson. I have also recently started a thread on the "Caroline in the City" page of this site and titled it "Butts". This thread also had no responses the last time that I checked. I would be very interested in what other fans think of any of this!
