View Full Version : Anyone Attend the Bewitched Fanfare? comedyfreak 07-01-2008, 04:30 AM Well how was it? We need details, if they have the event next year I'd like to attend. Jude The Obscure 07-01-2008, 03:33 PM If I get e-mails from my friends who attend, I'll do my best to share the details. catlover79 07-01-2008, 04:08 PM Nope - can't afford it. I took a big vacation last year, and the prices to travel this year are astronomical. It does sound like fun, however. Maybe another time. Jude The Obscure 07-01-2008, 09:49 PM From my friend, David P at the Home Theater Forum http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/showthread.php?t=261234&goto=newpost catlover79 07-01-2008, 11:12 PM  Awesome - thanks for sharing! Jude The Obscure 07-01-2008, 11:14 PM Doncha just love those photos?? And I'm thrilled they actually got William Asher to attend! catlover79 07-01-2008, 11:16 PM Doncha just love those photos?? And I'm thrilled they actually got William Asher to attend! God bless Bill Asher. I wrote him a few years ago and he replied!! What a terrific guy. :D Jude The Obscure 07-01-2008, 11:23 PM You really are a fan's fan, Monika! :) catlover79 07-01-2008, 11:28 PM You really are a fan's fan, Monika! :) Not only that, I have the autograph of Joey York, Dick's wife. :D comedyfreak 07-02-2008, 05:00 AM Cool pics!! I wish I could have been there. I understand one of our members attended this year and we haven't heard from him yet. richieonline 07-06-2008, 01:51 PM Well folks, I am just now recovering from my trip to California which part of it was the the Bewitched FanFare. Due to my schedule I was only able to attend the Elizabeth Montgomery Tribute night and the next days Warner Ranch tour. I am just now finding out that apparently Alice Ghostley sister and Billy Hayes of HR Pufnstuf fame (witchiepoo) were in attendance the night before at the celebrity roundtable, I am very disappointed that I missed that!! :( I have to say that overall I was impressed with the events that I attended, especially the ranch tour and the opportunity to meet William Asher was once in a lifetime (see pictures below). The Elizabeth Montgomery tribute night had a few minor technical hiccups/glitches but overall went well. catlover79 07-06-2008, 07:34 PM ^ Awesome pics! Thank you so much for sharing. richieonline 07-06-2008, 11:03 PM Catlover, out of curiosity, you said you wrote William Asher a few years ago and he replied. Can you share with us what you wrote and how he responded? If not that is ok, it's private and I understand, but the curiosity is killing me...hehe catlover79 07-07-2008, 11:34 AM No problem! I sent him a letter, c/o the Lucy-Desi Museum in Jamestown, NY, and they forwarded it to him. I put an index card in a self-addressed stamped envelope. He sent it back and the index card says: "To Monika, Best Wishes from Bill Asher". There you have it! :D richieonline 07-07-2008, 10:27 PM Very cool. He sure seemed to be a nice man. He said a few words to me and shook my hand before and after the picture. What was especially touching was this... there was a blind woman there, I'm sorry but I do not remember her name right now, she told a story of traveling to Hollywood when she was a young girl in the late 60's and she and her family found and went right up to Mr. Asher and Elizabeth Montgomery's home. Mr. Asher was there but Liz had went shopping or something, he told the girl that he would call them later that evening and arrange a time they could come back the next day and meet Liz. He did call and she visited for quite sometime with them. This blind woman was very detailed in her memory of the visit and shared it with the audience as Mr. Asher look on at this event week before last. After the event and before I had my picture taken with him, Mr. Asher and the blind woman sat next to each other, sharing an occasional whispered word or two but mostly she just held and rubbed his hand. She really loved this man and making her dream come true of meeting Elizabeth Montgomery, it was truly moving to watch. richieonline 07-07-2008, 10:31 PM Here is the photo while this lady was telling her story to the audience and William Asher... catlover79 07-08-2008, 12:15 AM Very cool. How cool that she was at the event and got to meet Mr. Asher again. He does seem like a very sweet man. I've read/heard nothing but good things about him. comedyfreak 07-08-2008, 08:41 AM How neat rich, can you share some pics of the Warner Bros. Ranch? I do hope they have the event next year I'd love to go. richieonline 07-08-2008, 10:07 PM I'd love to share the pics of the ranch but we were told specifically not to post them on the web. I will send my contact an email and ask again for permission. I don't want to do anything that would get me un-invited to the next event..haha comedyfreak 07-09-2008, 09:19 AM I see, well did you get to take pics infront of the house or just from afar? Did they mention if they would make this an annual event? Nosey aint' I, LOL. richieonline 07-09-2008, 10:02 PM There was no mention of it being and annual event, I think they having been doing the fan fare about every two years. As for the ranch tour it was better than i could have ever imagined. The ranch was totally closed that Saturday with only the guard at the front gate and one or two warner bros employee there. I got there about 45 min early and the warner bros employee i met said let's go and i'll show you around before the rest of the group gets there!!! I was like, wow.. so she took myself and about 4 other people around the lot, we went inside the houses built there, basically anywhere we wanted to go. Then the rest of the group arrived, about 60 people maybe and we met them. Rather than a guided tour they basically let the entire group have the run of the entire ranch and explore and take pic/video as much as we wanted for 4 hours. It was awesome and probably a once in a lifetime thing for me....I still can't believe it. One cool thing I thought to do was record the theme songs for the different shows filmed there, (partridge family, bewitched, I dream of jeannie, et..) and put them on my MP3 player. So I played them when i was around our touring the appropriate house, it made the visit even better...hahaha, kinda crazy but I enjoyed doing it anyway. :) richieonline 07-09-2008, 10:18 PM Great news!! I got the OK to post a few of the pics. First one is me in front of the Bewitched house. Second is in front of the I Dream of Jeannie house, the third is "Sheila's" house (they used it in the first or second episode as Darrin's ex-girlfriends house. Hope you all enjoy! Jude The Obscure 07-09-2008, 10:30 PM No, Richie, they have been doing it every year for a few years now. You possibly met some of my friends at the Fan Fare--Mark Simpson,Jone Devilin and David Pierce?? richieonline 07-09-2008, 10:39 PM My bad then, I'm not sure where I heard or got the every two year thing. Well anyways it was my first time, most enjoyable. Jude The Obscure 07-09-2008, 10:42 PM No prob!! :) So did you meet those guys? comedyfreak 07-10-2008, 04:22 AM Great news!! I got the OK to post a few of the pics. First one is me in front of the Bewitched house. Second is in front of the I Dream of Jeannie house, the third is "Sheila's" house (they used it in the first or second episode as Darrin's ex-girlfriends house. Hope you all enjoy! The third looks like the one Endora kept making disappear and reappear in Endora move in for a spell. Neat pics Rich!! I want to go next year. richieonline 07-10-2008, 08:41 AM I know I met Mark, can't say I met the others. Comedy Freak, I think your right!! They probably re-use a lot of these homes dressing them up a bit differently and shooting them from different angles. Jude The Obscure 07-10-2008, 12:45 PM You would remember David (if not actually talked to him)--he played the version of "The Price is Right" and won the Ideal Samantha doll in the replica box (the envy of all the fans!) and also won the Samantha heart necklace (the one Liz always wore on the show). catlover79 07-10-2008, 01:45 PM Those are awesome pics!! So glad you got the OK to post them here. richieonline 07-10-2008, 09:04 PM Jude86, I only attended the Elizabeth Montomery/William Asher tribute night and the warner ranch visit. I was there in L.A. for other things so could only attend those times. Jude The Obscure 07-10-2008, 10:16 PM no biggie richie.... :) |
