I think someone told me that. I've never seen the show though. It is sad that at that point in his career he was down to making cameos on sitcoms. :(
catlover79 06-30-2008, 11:28 PM Yes, and he was also reduced to playing tiny supper club venues, and filed for bankruptcy shortly thereafter. We can only wonder how things might had gone had he not gotten mixed up with drugs. :(
Zoneboy 06-30-2008, 11:32 PM Doobie Brothers - What's Happening
Loretta Lynn - The Dukes of Hazzard

Zoneboy 07-01-2008, 12:07 AM Liza Minnelli - Arrested Development
Liza auditioned for a role on the original Twilight Zone but was so nervous that she was turned down and predictions were that she would fade away into obscurity. The actress who won the role (Bonnie Beecher) hasn't been heard from acting wise since 1968.

That's interesting.
I don't know if you watched Arrested Development, but I was listening to an audio commentary on one of the episodes, and Ron Howard was saying that Liza used to baby-sit him!!
And I have never heard of Bonnie Beecher!!

Zoneboy 07-01-2008, 12:25 AM I have never heard of Bonnie Beecher!!
If she hadn't done that TZ episode, I'd be in the same league with you. I forgot to mention that the role they were vying for was that of a singer.

I think he would have probably enjoyed a more successful career. I think he would have made a comeback at some point.

I remember Metallica, Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith, The Stones?

Ireneparalegal 07-01-2008, 09:03 PM I know no one will ever get this one, MICHAEL DES BARRES appeared on ROSEANNE and SEINFELD (the smelly car episode), as well as FRASIER, CHARMED, JAG, THE GILMORE GIRLS and ELLEN. Who is Michael Des Barres? Well, Former hard rock singer and front man, Michael has fronted as part of "Detective" and "Power Station", in connection with Led Zeppelin and Duran Duran. Longtime friend of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and later married his girlfriend, Pamela Miller. Now works primarily as an actor.
Also, BONNIE BRAMLETT who played Bonnie on ROSEANNE. She is accomplished singer who was invited by Roseanne to play her friend on the show.

Given time I would probably have come up with at least one of them. :) Michael Des Barres has quite a resume' as an actor but my favorite role of his has to be as the assassin Mudoc on MacGyver. I have a Detective Lp but have never listened to it and I've never heard him sing with Power Station. I need to get a copy of Live Aid so I can hear him.
Bonnie Bramlett is one person I don't need to be reminded of. As one half of the duo Delaney and Bonnie, Their recording of "Only You Know and I Know" was used for a mystery oldie contest on a local classic rock station about 10 years ago and it took over 2 hours before anyone got it right. I finally got it but it took a couple of clues to do it.
Ireneparalegal 07-01-2008, 09:23 PM I have LIVE AID on VHS. I recorded it when it aired back in 1985. I wonder if it has survived being in storage though? I loved the performance of Power Station, although I really love the sound of the late Robert Palmer. I have "Some Like It Hot" on my iPod.

I'd love to have the entire Live Aid recorded from MTV and I would've gotten it myself but I didn't have MTV in 1985. :(

I remember being upset at the fact that I didn't get the whole thing on tape. :wallbang: I have seen the DVD in Best Buy and wonder if it is worth buying.

I bought it several years ago when Media Play was going out of business. I can't remember what i payed for it but it wasn't much. Great concert! Queen and David Bowie Rocked!
Zoneboy 07-01-2008, 10:47 PM I bought it several years ago when Media Play was going out of business. I can't remember what i payed for it but it wasn't much. Great concert! Queen and David Bowie Rocked!
Do you know what the running time is on it?
BarneyFife 07-01-2008, 11:43 PM I couldn't tell you right off hand, I loaned it to my brother several months ago and haven't gotten it back yet. I do know it's four DVD's and it's not the whole Concert. I think Irene said Robert Palmer was there, but he's not on any of my DVD's. I'm a huge Cars and Pretenders fan, so i really enjoyed their set. Madonna was also there, but the crowd didn't get into her very much. LOL. Queen made the concert, they ROCKED THE HOUSE! And David Bowie had a awesome set as well. There was several Bands I'd never heard of and didn't really like much at all. But overal it was worth the price i paid for it. I'm thinking i paid about $30 for it.
Ireneparalegal 07-02-2008, 12:48 AM There were a few bands there that were merely a part of the concert because they were the "in" band at that time. They don't have the legacy of Queen or David Bowie. Hell, even Madonna is a legend and who would have thought that in 1985? ;)
88survivor 07-02-2008, 08:32 AM Don't forget Miami Vice. Phil Collins, Patti Labelle, The Power Station lineup without Robert Palmer(with Chic Drummer Tony Thomspon, John Taylor, and Michael), etc. That was a singer-studded cast list on that show.
Boyce & Hart was on an episode of Bewitched.
Zoneboy 07-02-2008, 07:22 PM Ron Moss (guitarist for 70's band Player) - The Bold and the Beautiful
Rick Springfield - General Hospital
Roy Clark - The Beverly Hillbillies
BarneyFife 07-02-2008, 07:35 PM I believe Huey Lewis appeared on "Just Shoot Me". If it wasn't him it sure did look like him.
phoebe7165 07-03-2008, 12:45 PM I seem to recall an episode of Drew Carey where he was auditioning guitarists to be in a band with Lewis, Oswald, & him. He did the auditions in his back yard and I think Slash, Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top & Dave Mustaine from Megadeth were some of the few who auditioned. Joe Walsh also auditioned and got it. He was in a few episodes and IMO, I thought he was rather funny!!
catlover79 07-03-2008, 01:49 PM Donna Summer appeared as Aunt Oona ("from Altoona!") on an episode of Family Matters, and sang "Last Dance".
catlover79 07-03-2008, 01:50 PM I believe Huey Lewis appeared on "Just Shoot Me". If it wasn't him it sure did look like him.

Didn't Sammy also appear on The Jeffersons??
Wasn't Hall & Oates on an episode of the Nanny?

Huey was in an ep where Spence & Danny were pretending they were roadies to meet him. I "love" how TV makes it seem like it's sooooo easy to get backstage, by just putting on a jacket. Apparently you put a jacket on at a concert, people assume you're a roadie!!!
phoebe7165 07-28-2008, 09:15 PM Also, BONNIE BRAMLETT who played Bonnie on ROSEANNE. She is accomplished singer who was invited by Roseanne to play her friend on the show.
And David Crosby played her "old man"(I hate that saying) on the show. I say "old man" because I'm not sure if he was her husband or just her boyfriend.

Oh yes, how could I forget. I got the impression they were married.
Sammy Davis Jr. also played a character on The Cosby Show.
Lena Horne played herself on the Cosby Show.
B.B. King played a character on the Cosby Show.
