View Full Version : I Love Lucy Cookbook?
Jude The Obscure 06-29-2008, 10:41 PM Wasn't there one put a few years ago?
If so, I wonder if it included such recipes as Arroz Con Pollo (yea, my spelling is off), Aunt Martha's Old Fashioned Salad Dressing, and so forth, since food was a popular topic on Lucy.

Yes, I have that book. I haven't looked at in a long time so I will and let you know what recipes it has. I do know that it has the Vitameatvegamin recipe in it, but I haven't had the nerve to try it.
Jude The Obscure 06-30-2008, 05:23 PM Thanks Amy
I collect cookbooks, but particularly love TV oriented cookbooks. (I have the Andy Griffith, Brady Bunch and Bewitched ones).
Ireneparalegal 06-30-2008, 06:49 PM I was given some ILL magnets that have recipes on them. I have not made them though.
Jude The Obscure 06-30-2008, 07:03 PM I bought those magnets!!
And no, I haven't tried them, although the Pink Lemonade sure looks thirst quenching!
Ireneparalegal 06-30-2008, 07:07 PM  You got them too? That's great. ;) I don't even want to try the cheese sandwich recipe.
Jude The Obscure 06-30-2008, 07:09 PM No, that cheese sandwich sounds kinda nassssteeee :p
I don't want to attempt the rye bread one--unless it can be adapted to a bread machine!

Haunted_Armoire 06-30-2008, 08:41 PM Jude, the "ILL" cookbook I have was published in 1994. There may be newer editions out there but mine is the hardcover.
Benno123 06-30-2008, 08:45 PM I have the cookbook at my parents house with most of my collection so I can't say this is 100%, but I seem to recall that most of the recipes were basic recipes with maybe cutsie names given to them. Arroz con pollo may be given a name like "Ricky Ricardo's Special Dish" or something like that, or a punch recipe with the Vitameatavegemin name. Now that I'm married and we're trying to start a cookbook collection, I should bring this book over with me! My copy is hardback, bought it when I was in high school probably in 1993 or 1994.
Benno123 06-30-2008, 08:46 PM Published in 1994? Then that is when I bought mine as well.
Haunted_Armoire 06-30-2008, 08:49 PM I have it right here. The recipes do have "cute" names like:
Potato Sack Salade Lyonnaise, Mario's Cuba Style Pizza, and Hedda Hopper's Chocolate Coconut Chapeau. The Recipies are in sections under headings for some of the major eps. So the Hedda Hopper hat cake is under "LA AT LAST".
Jude The Obscure 07-01-2008, 10:22 PM Thanks Haunted and Benno. I will be on the lookout for it--my mom would love it too as she is a BIG Lucy fan.
Benno123 07-02-2008, 04:50 PM For sure keep an eye out for it, Jude. Not only for your mother, but it's just a fun little thing to have!
Jude The Obscure 07-02-2008, 10:53 PM oh I believe ya! :)
Haunted_Armoire 07-03-2008, 01:21 PM And be sure to check out amazon or ebay for CHEAP copies!
