The smoky mountain-fillled long and winding road to sweet, sweet, angelic Aunt Bea who will always stand by me. The sun will never go down on her. I imagine that she thinks of me. Every day with her is another day in paradise. I love when we go and shop around. i wanna be in that moment forever. Its like im in heaven. Sometimes we fight, but usually we can work it out. She always shows me pictures of when she was just a young girl, coming to America on a big ship.

She keeps waiting on the world to change, and you're the voice to help her understand that it wont. And so it goes, the life of Aunt Bea.

The road to aunt bea seems to get longer every time we go there, but it seems so much shorter when im with you. Even though we only see Aunt Bea a few times a year, she's always there when you believe.

This was a really sweet, touching poem/story. :) It appears you have a wonderful relationship with your Aunt. She seemed like a very kind-hearted, influential individual. You are so lucky to have a person like that in your life!

Here is a picture of my sweetie pie Aunt Bea. She is the one on the far left. She is with her two friends - her asian friend Hini and her german friend Margaret Sally. They are two wonderful ladies, so caring and giving. Always happy to whip me up a nice batch of biscuits or blueberry muffins.

Thomas Frank Rennald, I am upset. You know my sweet Bea would never do such a thing. Those are the tires that Aunt Bea's great grandson Harry Milker lended to her. She would never commit a crime. She is just a sweet old woman with a heart of gold.

Oh, they are very talented ladies when it comes to cooking. They love to make pizza the most. I see them in the kitchen throwing the flour around singing old tunes from the 1750s. They just have a ball cooking in the kitchen! It's so nice to see Bea so lively and happy. Her friends are truly special people in that they make her feel 78 again!

And yes, I am quite spoiled by their deliciously prepared treats. But I love it!

Since we are on the topic of my Aunt Bea, I figured I should mention my Aunt Bea's beautiful farm out in Nebraska. She grew corn, carrots, peas, tomatos, and basil on her farm. She also raised cows, pigs, goats, chickens, roosters, birds, dogs, and cats. I used to love spending hot summer days out on that barn. Sometimes me and my girlfriend Megathie Adams would go out by the lake and swim together, when I was a bit older, of course! What great times we had at the barn. She owned it from 1640 - 2002. Sadly she sold it to some sketchy looking people back in 2003 so she could move to Ho Ho Kus, New Jersey. I heard they blew it up. :(

Here is a picture of the old barn in Nebraska, at the farm entitled Swampy Pretty Farm:

Good gracious, Joseph! You are such a great story teller. And I am sure Aunt Bea has many stories to be told, so keep them coming! ;) It warms my heart to hear of these memories, so obviously close to your heart! It seems she really had a lovely thing going there. A shame what happened to it, really. :( But it lives on every day in the life of people who were touched by that wonderful farm enviornment, I am sure! :)

I really am quite lucky! And yes, of course you hear rave reviews. The ladies actually opened a restaraunt back in 1951 entitled "Very Very Very Good Ethnic Eats", but it was closed shortly thereafter when it was raided by a scary pack of termites. Too bad they didn't make it in the restaraunt business. :( Aunt Bea does sell some of her baked goods on the corner around the holidays, though, and she makes very very good money! Her baked goods are a hit in town. Long lines all the time around the holidays. Everyone loves her baked goods.

Aunt Bea's most popular item is her pumpkin pie, which she calls a "family secret recipe". It sells in truckloads (literally! ) around Halloween and Thanksgiving! It is so delicious though, I eat it all the time. I make sure Bea brings it to all the family gatherings.

It sure is as good as it looks!

Another popular favorite of mine during the winter months from old Aunt Bea is her delicious, homemade hot cocoa. She picks fresh cocoa beans on her yearly trip to the Rainforest in July every single year and then cooks them up & puts them into liquid form! It's truly amazing. Every year, one night around Christmas, we have a "cocoa night" where we all drink Bea's cocoa and talk amongst ourselves!!! (And by "we" I mean my family & also the neighborhood!). Last year, my cousin Stacie Kell Kell gave birth to her baby son Ollie Kell Kell on cocoa night. It was beautiful.

Yes, my family does have wonderful traditions.

Since it is summer I will bring up a summer tradition. Every year, we pack up our things and just randomly drive around the country, for some bonding time. We do not know our destination or anything! We just drive. It was Bea's idea to start this back in 1978 - 30 years ago! Last year it was quite funny - we found ourselves all the way in Northern Canada! I am not sure how we got there. It was so cold up there though!!! One year we also wound up in Mexico - it was terrible, but I will not go any further then saying we were attacked by a pack of wild tarantulas!

Changing the subject a bit, I do have to give kudos to the ShopRite that my Aunt Bea attends to make her delicious recipes. They have delicious items that are so fresh & the employees are so helpful. There is even a flamboyant man over the loudspeaker who says "Hey, girl, hey!" when you walk in the door to create a welcoming feeling. Thanks ShopRite, for being so great!

It really is quite lovely!!! So much better then that nasty market "Decent N Cheap" off the freeway. Aunt Bea used to go there until the owner called her a disgusting old shrew  What a rude-ie! The food was getting disgusting anyway! Sure the blueberries may be 2 cents, but what does it matter if they are lime green?! <- They were the color of that offended "roll eyes" smiley!

Changing the subject, I dug up an old family portrait of Aunt Bea's family from her teenage years, back in the 1870s. She is the one on the bottom row, again to the far left. She was even a remarkable, sweet-looking beauty back then! :) :D :happyface

is truly something special. A light in my otherwise dark, dreary life. Not just shining for me, but for the whole WORLD to see. It's my safe haven in an unsafe world. My happiness when the tears are in my eyes. And the joy in my soul when I would otherwise be hurting. I love Decent N Cheap like Ricky loves Lucy. So, I wanted to ask, how has this amazing store touched YOU?

EmoJoe

Decent N Cheap is so great. i especially love it the bread. sometimes, it's so stale, it changes colors. me and my family will go to the kitchen table, make sandwiches and then just watch the sandwich go from brown to grey to blue to green to baby blue to yellow to green to red. It's a magical experiences. I recommend it highly.

Lynn, what is your favorite grocery item from Decent N Cheap?

I'm a really big fan of their canned corn chowder. It's a pretty, pale shade of green and smells suspiciously like a rotting animal corpse. There's really nothing else like it out there, and I like that. I like the unique flavors and smells that erupt from the can as I open it. It literally fills your senses and it makes the overall experience top-notch, IMO.

^yeah, thats a good one.

another great one are the chocolate chip cookies. they taste so hideously great, and the secret is that instead of chocolate chips, they just put in deceased ants. its a good way to get some fiber while also enjoying a sweet snack. ant cookies with some milk made from sexually confused cows...MM now THATS a snack!

Gosh, Joe, my mouth is watering at the thought! :liplick: I really like their milk, and as a general rule I'm not a big fan. Their cornbread is also extremely impressive! They let it get moist and moldy, then dry it out for the BEST flavor. It's crunchy on the outside, moist and moldy on the inside! PASS THAT CORNBREAD, MA'AM!

OOOH the corn bread...delicious. I love that as well, but my #1 favorite has to be the potato salad. I just love how beautifully orange it looks. I've never seen a shade of orange like that before. You wouldn't think that potatos could go orange unless they are sweet potatoes. Well, they aren't! These potatoes have a disease called PIMD, which stands for Potatoes In Mortal Danger. They are basically potatoes with cancer. They are in no way shape or form, acceptable for human consumption, but Decent N Cheap ignores this and saves these poor potatoes and sells them in their store! How nice of them!! Mmm and they're delicious too, especially when you get to fight your dying digestive system and try not to throw them up!

It looks like Decent N Cheap has a new spokesperson!!! DAVID COOK!!! Your AMERICAN IDOL!!!! Hopefully he works out better then the last one, a random fat man who became terminally ill from consuming their food!!!! (what a mean idiot  ). Anyway here is the press release:

Supermarket Chain "Decent 'N' Cheap" Gets New Spokesperson

http://dirtyharrysplace.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/david_cook_narrowweb__300x4250.jpg

JULY 2 -- "Decent 'N' Cheap", a national supermarket chain made famous for their disgusting, sickening, yet unique grocery items, signed a 2-year contract with American Idol winner David Cook today, allowing him to become the supermarket's new spokesperson.

Cook, sometimes referred to as "Phat Kracka" or "THE COOK MAN", will star in the show's TV and radio ads as well as in magazine and newspaper ads.

A Decent 'N' Cheap spokesperson stated, "We're honored to have him here on the Decent N Cheap team, and hope he survives, I mean, enjoys the 2 years with us. We believe he is just as unique and original as our lovely food".

The company, who is celebrating it's 200th anniversary this year, previously had a Kentucky man named Kirk Ferlock as their spokesperson, but he sued his way out of his contract after he became terminally ill and wound up in a coma in 2002. He is still in his coma. Since 2002, the company's mascot has been a talking piece of vomit.

David Cook told the press today, "I AM HONORED TO BE A PART OF THIS WONDERFUL COMPANY. I LOVE DECENT N CHEAP'S FOOD. I LOVE HOW ITS NOT YOUR AVERAGE GROCERY STORE. I LOVE HOW UNLIKE MOST GROCERY STORES THEY DONT GIVE TWO CRAPS ABOUT CLEANLINESS. I FIND THAT SO UNIQUE, INNOVATIVE AND ORIGINAL. THEIR FOOD IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR, JUST LIKE ME AND MY TOTALLY ORIGINAL ROCK COVERS. WE HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON BECAUSE WE ARE BOTH SO UNIQUE AND UNPREDICTABLE. I AM NOT YOUR AVERAGE AMERICAN IDOL WINNER, THEY ARE NOT YOUR AVERAGE GROCERY STORE. WE ARE A PERFECT MATCH", he said.

David Cook, who won 'Idol' back in May, is currently touring with the other 9 'Idol' finalists. He said he will take time to shoot his first Decent 'N' Cheap advertisment "DURING SOME OF HIS OFF-TIME". Rumor has it that the first ad will feature him eating a bowl of bright yellow mint chocolate chip ice cream.
