When Steve lands in the LAMBERTS BACKYARD? I have a feeling they will end the episode when he flies through the roof and go up into the sky.

Yeah I did but ended up recording over it. But i guess it does make sense to cut it out because if Step by Step is not airing next then it's no need to leave the scene with Steve crashing into the Lambert's table.

which is why if I ever get the 1 hour block of Family matters and step by step on ABC in sept of 91 I will retire from trading

I saw the two episodes back-to-back originally, but didn't tape it. Did you try Linda Kay from PerfectStrangers.tv? She might have it, as she taped Perfect Strangers back then.

It seems to me that, of all these sort of cable channels, it is always ABC Family that opts to not cut out scenes, show the "controversial" episodes that other channels skip over and also they are the only ones in a while to show the full Family Matters theme song + especially the one with the Louis Armstrong song.

I don't think that ever happens. I've seen it millions of times on ABC Family and it ends with Urkel flying through the sky. Then SBS cold open starts with them having a picnic and he lands on the table.

I made a mistake everyone thanks to rebafan1

We wouldn't see Steve landing on a Picnic Table in the Lamberts backyard if we are watching a Family Matters episode.

That would only be in the teaser of a Step by Step episode.

I guess everytime I see that ep I think of step by step since it's connected by Steve making a appearance from the ending of Brian over Bawn

I had no idea that song was even used til ABC Family aired the pilot the first time in 2003. I'm glad they changed it because it just didn't fit the show.

Don't worry about it KingofTVResearch! Glad to help! :)
Maybe they will play What a Wonderful World for the pilot since that trivia thing last night mentioned how it was the original theme. It's possible!

Over here in Sweden, we keep all the scenes from the original airings, not edits or cuts. That's why we can see the original opening of the 7th season of "The Cosby show", where we can see Lisa Bonet and Joseph C Phillips participating in the "hip hop" theme song. But I've never seen the episode of "Step by step", where Steve visits the Lambert-Fosters. I've just seen him rocketing into the sky on the end of the "Family Matters" episode. I've seen him in an episode of "Full House" though.

Lisa and Joesph can also be seen dancing on the season 7th DVD so that's not that special you know-lol

Yeah. I'm glad you corrected that because I was sort of confused when I read the first post too. I remember seeing those FM and SBS eps in syndication and the part with Urkel landing at the Lambert's was indeed the teaser of "Step by Step," not the tag scene of "Family Matters." Yet, I do remember when "Brain over Brawn" aired originally it showed Steve flying through the air during the closing credits. I think that's the way I remember it. It's been a while.

The 1992-1998 era is what will get me to talking

Lorimar Television

I don't like the 93- 98 episodes as much. 89- 93 were great!

Furienna
07-06-2008, 10:07 PM
I know what you're saying. 1993 sure was a milestone, and a negative milestone at that, in this show's history, because they got rid off poor Judy instead of giving her some plots and making her a interesting character! But I still liked the show after that too, and of course, Myra wasn't introduced until 1993, and I liked her.

Lorimar Television
07-07-2008, 12:24 AM
I like her too. But she was introduced in the 4th season and I like that season too. I disliked season 5 on mostly because of Judy's dissapearance. It made the show unrealistic, not to mention Urkels crazy inventions. Though I'd still watch the seasons but if it came to DVD I'd only buy seasons 1- 4.

Furienna
07-07-2008, 12:28 AM
Aaaah... Well, Steve's inventions isn't a problem to me, as it seems to be to, well, everyone else discussing FM. When I first watched this show as a teenager, I didn't even notice that this show changed over the years, but I notice it now. I can't say it changed for the worse though, because I always liked Steve.
