This story was in our newspaper & on our local tv news station yesterday. It's kind of funny.

Nashville - A Nashville man has been charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication after he repeatedly harassed Cher at the famed Tootsies Orchid Lounge. Police say 36-year-old Calvin Houghland tried to make contact with Cher early Wednesday morning and was asked to leave the club. He complied, but returned a short time later and grabbed Cher by the waist as the singer-actress sat in a roped-off area of the lounge. Houghland was escorted from the bar, but returned again. When security blocked his attempts to approach the singer, Houghland called police to say he'd been assaulted. Police say Cher declined to prosecute but Houghland asked to be arrested. He failed a self-requested field sobriety test. His bond was set at $3,000.

He probably asked to be arrested because he knew he would be in the news. I wouldn't want to be in the news that way though!!

OH Nuts!

I'm sorry Cher had to go through that. I have friends who have met her and say she's SUPER NICE in person.

I really like Cher. I loved her in the movie MASK. What a great lady she appears to be. We are going to Las Vegas in August and I so badly want to see Cher perform, but I won't because I was hoping my sister would go with us so she and I could go see her but with my sister's illness and barely getting out of the hospital, I don't think she will be able to go with us. No one else wants to see Cher with me. :snob:

In 1979, in our city, a young girl, around 11 years old, was raped. Word got to Cher that this young girl was a huge fan of hers and loved to sing and dance to her song TAKE ME HOME. Cher came to visit with her and provided her with gifts, dolls and other stuff. I remember thinking what an awesome thing for Cher to do that and to this day, I never forgot.

Irene, I don't know how you feel about this but if nobody wanted to go see Cher with you, what do you think about going by yourself. It might seem weird at 1st but I go to shows by myself once in a while, and it's not so bad. In fact, I've met alot of great people that way, and with only one ticket, I've usually had a much, much better seat than if you went with others. Plus I think the show is only between an hour & an hour & a half.

I go to shows by myself every now and again as well. Actually one of the two times I saw Cher was by myself.

I do too. I'm actually seeing Martina by myself. I'm not going to miss a great show just because I can't find someone to go with.

Good for you, Mike, and I'm sure you got a great seat because you are going by yourself. From what I get from other message boards, quite a few people go to shows by themselves.
