With 'Hillbillies' being such a long series, I'm glad Paramount is releasing it....they're very good most of the time at releasing entire series.

From what I understand, it's the complete 2nd season being released and not just the remaining 17 missing episodes.

keep your fingers crossed that they also release the remaining seasons after this; and that they don't pull the kind of thing they did with season 2 of "THE FUGITIVE".

I hope that this is also a sign that they will do the same for Petticoat Junction!!

latest news at their site is that all the episodes WILL have the opening & closing theme, CBS/Paramount is working from 35mm prints (the MCI releases were 16mm) and they hope to include extras. They also have a picture on their site (tvshowsondvd; not CBS/Paramount) of the box art; BUT they say all this may change in the future.

Wow, I hope they change the cover art. The frame does not look good and the picture looks like it is from a much later season. Is that the ocean in the background?

Since CBS/Paramount will be working with 35mm prints (MPI used 16mm prints) it should result in better picture quality! Nice to know that they are looking to add extras. Maybe they can get Paul Browstein on board to produce them?

I'll definately be picking this one up, hopefully they'll do the third season which will be in glorious color.

they started filming in color in the 4th season, not the 3rd.

Good news about the prints....but that box art is tacky!! MPI even did better with theirs. Let's hope they get something that's cleaner and more professional looking.

As long as it hits DVD I'm fine.
@ Treky- It'll be interesting to see the 3rd season still in b&w.

Well, I would have preferred they start with Season 1. It doesn't make sense.

MPI has already released all of the season one episodes (granted they're spread over 2 volumes, but at least they're out there!).

Yeah, but the MPI releases were disappointing. Some episodes were not good quality. I could have given up all the cigarette commercials just to have all the episodes in good quality.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the quality.

no, me too. In fact, I thought the audio and video are exellent. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed hoping that CBS/Paramount keeps up the same great work that MPI did, and that they don't do what they did with season 2 of "THE FUGITIVE" and "GOMER PYLE: U.S.M.C.".
