I have purchased on viewed the entire season 1 DVD of this program. I'm only 25, but I definitely consider this one of the best sitcoms of all time. I remember watching an episode with commentary from Ronnie Schell, who played Duke Slater. He said that except for Jim Nabors and Frank Sutton he was the only person to be signed on to the show for all 5 seasons. However, I recall reading that he did not appear in season 4 at all, as he was starring on "Good Morning World" at the time. Did he appear in season 4 at all? Also I it seems that Forrest Compton (Col. Grey) appeared in all 5 seasons, didn't he? Plus Barbara Stuart appeared in all 5 seasons, although that's slightly different because she only appeared in 1 first season episode, and then as a completely different character.

no, he wasn't in season 4, but he was in season 5 as the same character, only he had been promoted to Corpral, and he became Sgt. Carters aide.

Yes this a great sitcom and can't wait until I purchase the other seasons. You know it's people your age in my city that never even heard of Gomer Pyle so how did you find out about it?

I remember watching reruns as a little boy. This was very popular in syndication.

The show hasn't aired in this area since the early 80's so I can see someone born in 83 not knowing what the show is-lol
