IMO Seinfeld went on too long. So did Frasier. They both were silly at the end.
Any other shows go on too long, in your opinion ?

View Full Version : Shows that should have had a SHORTER run Chocolate Moose 06-22-2008, 01:46 PM IMO Seinfeld went on too long. So did Frasier. They both were silly at the end. Any other shows go on too long, in your opinion ? James 06-22-2008, 01:58 PM "The Bachelor" "Big Brother" "Cheers" "Family Guy" "Friends" "Jerry Springer" "Married ... with Children" "Maury" "NYPD Blue" "Roseanne" "The Simpsons" "60 Minutes" "South Park" "Today" "Wife Swap" "Will and Grace" "WWE Friday Night Smackdown!" JulieSomoski 06-22-2008, 02:12 PM I always thought Frasier was good throughout all 11 years, I never thought it got silly towards the end. The Jeffersons probably should have ended after season 10. That last season just wasn't that good at all, and ratings really took a dive in that last year. Same goes for Married with Children, it went on way past its prime. Czas na Zywiec 06-22-2008, 02:12 PM The Wonder Years JulieSomoski 06-22-2008, 02:14 PM The Wonder Years I'd have to disagree with you on that one - I thought TWY should have gone on for at least another year, so that they we could have seen them graduate from high school. PunkyP0WER 06-22-2008, 04:55 PM night court, as much as i like it, it was painful to watch in the last couple seasons. i think season 7 should have been the last, maybe even season 6. but nonetheless the last couple seasons were better than anything on today. also who's the boss? once tony went to college, it went downhill. that contradicted the whole premise of the show.full house as well. all those people living in the house got ridiculous.too many characters for a 1/2 hour show. by the end the girls were getting old enough where they didn't need the help of 3 men to raise them which was the shows premise. actually, joey and jesse living there in the later seasons started to look pathetic. especially jesse who had a wife and kids. i lost all respect for the character when becky and him were talking about having another baby in one episode. waichingliu81 06-22-2008, 05:26 PM jerry springer show- i cannot believe that awful show lasted as long as it did friends- should've lasted 7/8 seasons frasier- should've lasted 9 seasons Tubehead 06-22-2008, 05:33 PM boy meets world. JulieSomoski 06-22-2008, 05:54 PM boy meets world. Yeah, that last season really was awful. Edison 06-23-2008, 12:12 AM The X-Files. Near the end, could almost hear that kid at the end of every episode saying, "I DID NOT MAKE THIS !" 70s show watcher 06-23-2008, 12:25 AM i think friends and that 70s show ran one season too long and mash and dallas both ran 3 seasons too long repeatshistory 06-23-2008, 12:57 AM jerry springer show- i cannot believe that awful show lasted as long as it did It's STILL ON in some markets. It's pathetic enough, however, that the city in which it is filmed, it's on at 2 am! repeatshistory 06-23-2008, 12:59 AM Yes, Dear According To Jim treky 06-23-2008, 01:31 AM "MASH"-toward the end, it got to be too much of "THE ALAN ALDA SHOW" with too much of the message "oh, we're doctors, and we're so good, and we're so this, that, and the other & war is hell". I mean, give us all a break!!!:o megamanj2004 06-23-2008, 03:53 AM ER Law and Order Seinfield - BINGO! Friends Roseanne Happy Days - it became too much of The Fonzie Show once Ron Howard left The Cosby Show - When Olivia 1st came along, she wasn't terribly annoying as she was after the first eps. Then it got worse when Cousin Pam, that wuss Martin, and all those grandfathers! How many grandfathers do they have?! By S5/S6, should of been a wrap. Diff'rent Strokes - Should of ended before Sam and Maggie came along. I liked Dixie Carter, but I couldn't stomach her Maggie character at all! Same w/ Sam. And Mary Ann Mobley was even worse! That '70s Show - S7 should of truely been it's last season. But NOOOOOOOOOOO, Carsey-Werner once again cannot seem to realize when they should pull the plug at the right time on a show. The way Donna and Roger made out in Eric's old room of (all places) was a huge slap in the face of Eric (Topher Grace). catlover79 06-23-2008, 11:34 AM As much as I love Bewitched, it should've ended after five seasons once Dick York was unable to go on due to his chronic back problems and painkiller addiction. The stories were no longer fresh and by the time season 5 came to an end, they weren't doing anything they hadn't done before. I totally agree with L&O, Roseanne, Full House, Home Improvement, Coach, etc. I still don't understand why L&O is still on! icecream 06-23-2008, 12:10 PM I definitely don't think Coach lasted too long. It might be one of those few shows that gets better as it goes on. As for shows that did last too long Boy Meets World the first four seasons were great, the fifth was Ok, and the last two sucked Different Strokes was a great show until Sam and Maggie ruined it 7th Heaven I love this show, it's my second favorite overall, but the last season was sub-par Frasier it was still a good show, but it didn't compare to the greatness of the early years The Practice James Spader ruined the last season The Andy Griffith Show wasn't the same without Barney Overdose 06-23-2008, 04:21 PM "Roseanne" should have ended at either season 6 or season 8. catlover79 06-24-2008, 01:46 PM Family Matters should definitely have ended once family members started vanishing. Why did they even bother calling the show Family Matters by that point? All Urkel, All the Time was more like it. waichingliu81 06-24-2008, 02:04 PM It's STILL ON in some markets. It's pathetic enough, however, that the city in which it is filmed, it's on at 2 am! WTH?! |
