Especially since in the first season, there's always a girl wearing those tiny shorts.

I always wondered about that too...they didn't think that through very well haha

I can't help but remember how I thought, "This show is definitely geared towards young guys, not girls." I mean, it seemed almost creepy. Am I alone in this thinking or what? I can't help but think a whole bunch of pervs sat in front of the tv during that half-hour.

I agree too! It was disturbing.

Not only that but they were rarely in their uniforms.

I thought I would be in the minority on that opinion.

Seriously though, it seemed rather weird (still does) to see those episodes and see those girls dress too sexy for their age and for the fact they were in a private school. Crazy!

The first season was the only time we ever see Blair wear shorts. Jeans and sneakers for that matter too.

Eve Brandstien, who was the casting director pointed that out in the THS that aired on "E". You have to wonder if it was summer all year. I can understand if they were in California but that's not the case.

Even if the wardrobe remained that way in season 2, I can't imagine seeing Jo dress that way. Also, Blair had gained weight and never would have fit in those tiny shorts. ;)

That's a good point about Jo, Irene. I never thought of that.

In a lot of ways, it makes you wonder about all the producers and guys who were in control of things behind the scenes. I saw the "E! True Hollywood Story" about Facts and the complaints about the first season's wardrobe, but I for one never really put two and two together before until you guys said it, but I'll bet all those old guys who were, as the "E!" show said, "Smitten with Lisa Whelchel," who were running things behind the scenes, were just a bunch of perverts enjoying making those girls dress too sexy for their ages.

Oh, gee, guys, how nice...a bunch of old perverts running our favorite show...I'm officially depressed now, LOL

Actually, Blair was still a skinny size in season 2. It was in season 3 that she started gaining weight.

I don't think "E! True Hollywood Story" is always correct in what they show. I've always felt that there was a tabloidness to that show.

Welcome to the boards, by the way.

The girls all battled weight problems during the course of the show. I remember hearing how much of the blame was put on the too easily available craft services table with cakes, cookies, doughnuts, etc. Joan Rivers crudely referred to the show as "The Fats of Life" (nasty b****). However, by the 9th season, Lisa, Nancy and Mindy had all lost weight. (Nancy in particular was looking quite thin). Kim, after FOL, did those Slim-Fast ads, if you recall.

I remember that rude comment by Joan.

Lisa began her second season wearing overly tight designer jeans and it was obvious she had gained weight. She had a great wardrobe though and it looked so much better than her wardrobe on season one which made her look like a college "call girl"...

Mind you, I think Lisa looked adorable with the weight gain. I can't stand that females have to be bony thin to be beautiful. I actually believe a woman with some meat on her bones is more beautiful. I can't stand seeing bones protruding. puke:

Hmm...I didn't really notice anything with Lisa's weight until season 3, but that's just me. I'm sorry. I never meant to seem rude or anything. Sometimes when I "talk" on the Internet, I just say the wrong things.

Oh no sweetie, you weren't rude. We were talking abt Joan Rivers. She called the FOL girls the FATS of Life. Isn't that friggin rude? I mean, how dare she talk abt looks when she herself looked like an ugly poodle dog herself. Sorry if you thought that was towards you. You have been nothing but kind and let me welcome you. ;)

OH Nuts!

Joan Rivers dissing anyone else's looks is really the limit. She should only look that good. She's the QUEEN of plastic surgery. I swear to God every time she walks down the street a plastic surgeon kisses her feet, which I'm sure have been worked on TOO. She probably buys industrial drums of Botox LOL. Don't know WHY - but Joan Rivers reminds me of the adage about people living in glass houses not throwing stones.

You said it Rich. Really, there is a difference between being a comedian and doing your bit on stage and leaving that kind of talk there ON THE STAGE, but Joan takes it further and seems to just splatter her tasteless humor any chance she gets a microphone in her face or her tightened face on tv.

Thanks a lot, Irene. :D I've heard about the Joan Rivers comment before, and you're all absolutely right. And, in my not-so-nice opinion, LOL, no matter HOW many surgeries that woman has, it'll never put her physical appearance in a good enough place to where she's able to actually criticize anybody else's. Not that anybody should ever do that anyway, but I'm just saying.

Too bad IceT and family didn't whip her sorry Botox/Plastic Craptic Face on Celebrity Family Feud!!

I used to be a fan of Joan's........until she made that comment and i stopped watching her late night show then and there. I laughed when Fox fired her sorry butt!

One of the great moves by FOX. ;)

I also became very angry towards Joan when she revealed Victoria Principal's phone number on her talk show. She didn't blurt out the number, but you could tell from the tones on the touch tone phone she used which numbers those were. Victoria had to change her number after hundreds of people figured it out and called her home.
