Ayda Field has landed the female lead on ABC's untitled David Kohan/Max Mutchnick comedy pilot.

The project, from Warner Bros. TV, centers on two men -- Derek (Josh Cooke), who is straight, and Drew (Alan Tudyk), who is gay -- who are lifelong best friends and business partners.

Field will play Audrey, Derek's stylish but emotionally messy girlfriend.

The role has been recast following the pilot's table read. Sarah Lafleur, who originally was set for the part, is under a talent deal with ABC and is expected to be attached to another project for the network.

Field most recently co-starred as ditsy weathergirl Montana on Fox's sitcom "Back to You." She also had a role on the WBTV-produced "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" for NBC.

That's good to hear. Hopefully ABC won't can her midseason like FOX did. Too bad she couldn't have joined Kelsey's pilot. All we needed was Patricia Heaton, Josh Gad, and Ty Burrell, and it would be Back to You all over again.

So far Lauren Marano, Ayda Field and Kelsey Grammer have signed to new shows.

Yeah, but Laura and Ayda were cut from Back to You, so even if it was renewed, we'd only have to worry about Kelsey and his new show.

They taped the pilot last week in front of a live studio audience. It is tentatively titled Fourplay. If picked up, it will air mid-season in early 2009.

So it's multicamera? That already makes me want to tune in.

Wow, it's starting to sound really good. Great to see ABC going back to multi-camera comedies, because lately they seem really fond of the single-camera comedies. I'll definitely check it out.
