I never realized Cyndi, Madonna, or Janet even left!!lol:p

I mean to actually define it as a comeback.

Isn't it Donna who hasn't had a new album in 17 years? I'd like to see her do well. I might even go see her in concert if she comes to my area.

yes, it was donna. although the last pop based album was mistaken identity back in 1991 or 92 and despite its flop, probably due to poor marketing, i loved 'work that magic' from that LP.

I don't think either of those artists can be considered a COMEBACK. A comeback is like what Tina Turner did in the 80's after being bankrupt. Or what Mariah Carey did after her mental breakdown, bad albums, etc. Those are comebacks. Madonna, Cyndi and Janet continue to work even when there is no album or tour going on for them, they have money to live off of so it is not like they need to spin out albums or tours every year.
