I would like to start a new, silly game for the summer. It's called "What Would They Use It For?" (I can't think of a better name right now). This is how you play. You pick an item from modern day life and imagine the castaways had it on the island. How would they (or one of them, etc.) use it? Once you answer, suggest a new item. The only catch is that the answer cannot be used for rescue purposes (or that will always be the answer somehow). I'll start:

Post-its

The professor could use them to label his chemicals, etc. in his lab.



A taser.

A new way to deal with pesky headhunters!

A guitar

To help put the Skipper to sleep so he can dream how to convert the radio into a transmitter.

A case of Red Wine

To control huge spiders


Cordless phone

to call in a rescue party

Might be used if Mary Ann's creepy boyfriend ever wrote her a letter in a bottle back.



A chia pet.

The Chia Pett would be used by the Professor to grow a neverending supply of salva hispanica, or "chia" to add omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidents, vitamins, minerals, and fiber to the castaways' diets. Gilligan might protest the harvesting of the "chia" from the Chia Pet, because periodically it would leave his little ram friend without any warm "fur."

a Twister Game

The guys would give Twister to Ginger & Mary Ann as a gift and then watch the girls play a game for some thrills. As you can imagine, the boys' eyes would pop out as the girls' body parts popped out of their clothes, twisting around, one in tight shorts, the other in a tight dress. Finally the boys would need to run to the lagoon to cool down.

They could install it up in the air and use it as a windmill to turn their washing machine. Beats pedaling !

If the text messager was waterproof, the Skipper and Gilligan could use it to transmit information about all the sunken ships in the lagoon up to the professor.

They could use the cases to attract in water animals that smelled the pastries and were hungry, then they could cook and eat the animals.

Hand Lotion

They could use it for MaryAnn's dishpan hands & to get all those stuck rings off.

They could put Gilligan's super glue on the typing paper, and make a sort of fly paper, to catch those deadly green bugs with yellow wings.

The giant spider, of course!!! (Poor spider!)

A xerox machine

The Howells could Xerox their party invitations, assuring that no one gets jilted.
Also, Gilligan could Xerox his diary so that he won't keep losing it in his back pocket.
Finally, Mary Ann could make Xerox copies of all those notes to her made-up boyfriend; that way, she won't have to keep writing more fake letters.
