Yeah, it was a sitcom about pilgrims(!). It didn't last very long.

Set in 1621 Massachusetts, it aired from Aug. 2, 1999 to Sept. 6, 1999.

i was interested in seeing it but my mom died around the time of its premiere and i ended up not watching it. sounded like something offbeat i'd enjoy although i'm not sure how far they could have taken the concept. especially as a comedy. i could see a drama perhaps.

...and I also recall the ONE rave review it got from a TV critic: Bruce Fretts, then writing for ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY. He virtually had an orgasm over it, comparing it to "MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS" and claiming it was better than any new comedy CBS was going to schedule that fall. We were watching different shows, because there was a reason the network "buried" "THANKS" in the summer of '99: it wasn't that great. Cloris Leachman was good (as was Orson Bean in one episode), but the series, as a whole, was unsatisfying. You didn't miss anything by missing it....

I have it on DVD! I think it was really funny. Great cast, excellent chemistry, lots of satire. Keith Szarbazjka had a really funny recurring role as an insane preacher. I am willing to trade.

Cloris Leachman, Jim Rash, Gllen Shaddix - so many great character actors on this funny funny show! It was satire of America's Puritan roots and Sarah Vowell was a HUGE fan of it and even writes about it in her book "Wordy Shipmates". Underrated classic!
