MikeLutton 06-20-2008, 03:32 AM does anyone like the last season of night court it seems kind dull to me bull is getting on my nerves being stupid all the time more then annoying glad phil foundation is over with i didnt like how they treated dan before what everyone else think
ekkostar 06-26-2008, 10:28 AM I've never really liked the last season. If you've seen my older posts, I've been very passionate with my "Phantom Dan" hate. I'm currently rewatching the Phil Saga on TiVO and it's even more terrible than I remember when I last watched in in 2005. I don't want to feel bad for Dan, I want to love to hate him for being so smug and perverted!!!
MikeLutton 06-27-2008, 05:02 PM yeah i like the other seasons but the last some was ok but i noticed not 2 many scenes took place in court house and not many cases lizettte gets on my nerves phantom dan was ok i didnt care for it to unrealsitc never take place n real court house.but rest was ok bull got on my nerves though

MikeLutton 06-30-2008, 03:44 AM yeah tv land splits their screen like idiots promote their reality shows every show like that
LuLu Rogers 08-18-2008, 03:13 AM Can someone explain the last season to me? I honestly have no idea what the hell happened, I mean, "phantom Dan" WTF? I was lost after the Phil Foundation episodes.
Chocolate Moose 08-18-2008, 11:02 AM yes, it got very wacky

I agree. I love Bull, but the longer the show ran, the dumber they made him. ohno:
Mikado 08-21-2008, 04:58 PM This series should have ended when they added Christine (Markie Post) to the cast, worst decision EVER!

Selma was great, I loved the way she would deliver jokes, so dead pan but so hilarious!
I know I hated the finale. Bull went to outerspace and conveniently forgot he had a wife. I was totally for a Dan/Christine pairing, while my sister wanted a Harry/Christine pairing.
MikeLutton 08-23-2008, 01:18 AM yeah dumb ending unless she got shot up to dan christine is perfect i would liked to see how that would turned out wish they had a scene where dan meets her in washington totally unexpectley
McFly121 09-07-2008, 08:54 PM What??? Markie Post finally gave the show a solid, gorgeous female lead.
It's been posted here before, but in a nutshell the show was weeks away from it's final episode ever when Warner Bros. decided on a last minute renewal. Ex. Prod. Chris Cluess said they basically had no storylines or scripts prepared for another season, and the show suffered. Writers scrambled over the summer to get stuff ready, but as we all saw, it was painfully laugh-less.

Regardless of that sort of excuse, watching Season 8 on Encore Classic (they're about to start Season 9), it was very obvious that Night Court for all intent and purposes was really "no longer funny". In a nutshell, it seemed like the new producers were trying scale back on the goofiness/unabashed irreverence in favor of more "personal" story arcs (instead of focusing on the wacky courtroom cases) and more "witty and verbal" humor. Unfortunately, the end result was a show that felt tired, contrived and overall, heavy handed. If you've been following my recent posts about this subject in this particular forum, then you'll catch my drift much better.

Your'e right on that. Christine was hot. Ellen Foley was not.

I really didn't care for the last two seasons. The season before that, where Christine was pregnant, wasn't great but it still had some funny moments. But you're right that they got rid of the goofiness after that. Not only the wacky courtroom cases, but Harry's dad stopped appearing, from what I remember. And I couldn't stand Lisette, either. Too annoying.
Ryan Chamberlain 12-06-2014, 07:28 PM To me the show basically reverted back to the way it was in season 1 around season 8. More dramatic. Less goofiness. Only, Harry (as much as I love him) started becoming totally rude around the time that Margaret dumped him.
And, Dan...Well. He was losing his mind by then. And, slowly becoming the goof that Harry once was.
Also. If I was gonna pinpoint when the major changes happened the most (character wise) I will say for sure...the second half of season 8.
And, by season 9. The last season. Just cemented those changes for good. Harry turned into Dan without the perversion. And, Dan turned into Harry but without a soul. That's just how I feel about it.
Also. Lizette was terrible. So, was having Will instead of Phil as the bum de jour.
There's a few stand out episodes of the last season. The bachelor party ep (Looking For Mr. Shannon) is one I can think of that I absolutely love. But, all in all. No bueno. Especially the final episode. Harry/Christine was who I wanted. Not Dan/Christine.
jessm78 12-26-2014, 05:10 PM Honesty, I have to say I agree with everything you said here. Now that you mention it, I do kind of see a similarity between the overall tone of season 1 and season 8. And yeah, I kinda feel that way about Harry then, too. Especially in that episode where he was voted the "most interesting man in NY" or whatever it was and blew off Christine to go to that stupid art exhibit opening.
When you say that Harry turned into Dan without the perversion in season 9, do you mean he was more like a straight man? I've heard people say that it was like their roles reversed... earlier, Harry was always the goofy guy and Dan seemed to be more like a straight man to him, and in season 9 they made Dan a bit goofier and Harry more like a straight man. I guess I could pretty much see that.
I was never really a fan of Lisette either. She'd just add these annoying, goofy asides to everything. And Will seemed like a poor substitute for Phil. And yeah, I do agree that there were a few pretty good episodes that season. I liked the bachelor party ep too.
(and yeah, I wanted Harry/Christine too! Almost wish someone would write a fanfiction "fix-it" for that episode)
MikeLutton 04-17-2015, 04:35 AM night court would been fine If it was not for the phil foundation, I think it would been much better for dans boss vincen daniels to return try be nice to dan and take all the money instead of will.
jessm78 04-17-2015, 06:28 PM Yeah I agree, the Phil Foundation was pretty clunky. Hey I like that idea. I always wondered what happened to Vincent Daniels, we didn't see him anymore after season 5 right (the episode with Teri Hatcher as his niece)?
Ryan Chamberlain 05-04-2015, 07:39 PM Watching Looking For Mr. Shannon again right now. I really do love this episode. It has a special place in my heart for some reason.
Love the joke about Margaret (I hated her for what she did to Harry) being in a porno. That cracked me up so hard.
jessm78 05-04-2015, 08:08 PM I love that one, too. In general I'm not a huge fan of the last season, but that episode has a special place in my heart too... not quite sure why but gosh I even remember what I was doing when I watched the first airing of it. :roller:
I loved that joke and Harry's expression when he realizes she's in the porno. And yeah, I didn't like what she'd done to him (and that's a whole other rant, lol). I also loved poor Mac telling everyone to shut up so he could work on his term paper (which kept getting more and more worse for wear).
