A&E has changed for the worse! I miss how it was in the earlier part of the decade when they aired Biography, Investigative Reports, American Justice, Cold Case Files and City Confidential.That was the best! It was a true crime lovers paradise.

AMC...used to be my favorite channel...of course TV Land just sucks anymore.

I nominate ESPN Classic,it went from classic sports to non-stop poker and boxing and a glorified ESPN overflow channel.

MTV,VH1 and CMT is pretty much self-explanatory.

Food Network has gotten better.

It used to be only about these high-class recipes and expensive restaraunts.

Now, it teaches us how to make good food that's easy and not-so-pricey, as well as great eye candy in Giada and Rachael.

well, the most obvious one is, of course, CRAP LAND, I mean TV LAND.
But then there's A & E, AMC, VH1, and NICK AT NITE.

Both A&E and Bravo were at one time EXCELLENT, innovative variety entertainment stations. I can still remember watching short films produced by McCartney's independent film division....great British and American short films... heck even Cirque Du Soleil before it TOOK OVER A&E for awhile....Stuff you'd never see anywhere else.

GSN from March 2004-06?; that was the dreadful day GSN joined the credit-crunching bandwagon and started playing the poker and reality garbage. thankfully as of late 2007-to present, the reality and poker garbage has died down somwhat.

Any Viacom-owned channel automatically gets nods. (BET, MTV, VH1, TV Lame-er Land, N@N, and countless others that know who you are)

i agree with you on E!. i remember when e! used to air the classic true hollywood stories with judy garland etc. and hollywood mysteries and scandals was good too and talk soup was the best, my dad and i used to watch it together and my dad would crack up when they'd give their commentary about the clips. i used to enjoy watching the e true hollywood stories but now they devote one to just anybody. why does kimberly stewart need a ths? what has she done? i watched 5 minutes of it and all i heard was these bunch of morons give long winded testimonials "kimberly can accomplish anything" "kimberly is so special. she has that magic thats very rare" ...yeah, whatever. then theres keeping up with the kardashians/living lohan/denise richards....forget about has beens, they are at the top of the never was list. i used to like the soup but i've even stopped watching that. all joel mchale does is plug the other pieces of crap e! shows. i got a little into the ths investigates since i'm a true crime fan, but they're so poorly done. the host doesn't come across as knowledgable or interested in the stories. just seems like shes reading off cue cards and mugging for the camera. half of what makes a good true crime show is the narration and its just pitiful on this show. then they do these weird visual effects that distract from the story. everything about e! sucks. and the worst offender is ryan seacrest. man do i hate this guy. he's an overhyped, full of himself metrosexual. i pray he does not take over for larry king. he's the worst interviewer ever. to be a good interviewer you have to remain objective and he's such a butt kisser. and whats worse is hes not only limited to e! he's everywhere! i know longer watch the dick clark rocking new years eve because of him. only channels i really watch are msnbc and..........ok i guess thats all i watch. i admit to watching vh1 as fol and rol was a guilty pleasure but that has gotten old. i don't thnk i even watched one episode of fol3. i might watch i love money but thats it. i've never seen any of their other programming except for celebrity fit club and their i love the decades series but the new one coming up seems lackluster. the promos for it don't convey anything that looks amusing.

FX used to air many episodes of 'Married... With Children," with an average of between 2-4 episodes every weeknight.

They still air What's My Line and I've Got A Secret every day. It's just on really early in the morning. The Name's The Same is coming back in July to replace I've Got A Secret. As for Allen Ludden and Password, that definitely needs to show up again. With all the success Million Dollar Password is having, I'm surprised they haven't brought it back yet. It would also be neat to see Cullen's TPIR.

As for networks that have changed truly for the worse, Nickelodeon, N@N, TV Land, CMT... basically any Viacom channel. I'm beginning to think it's in their contract. You must change your concept at one point or you will be dropped.

Soap - Used to show a lot of soaps that were not on earlier in the day like Knots Landing, Dallas etc then they got all the teen dramas, and original shows like Relative Madness, Soap Star, GH Nightshift, Wanna Be A Soapstar etc....

E! - More repeats of E news and top 25/50 etc, less of the THS originals

Lifetime - Starting to jump on the original reality show crap, hour long dramas instead of mostly movies

USA/TNT - Changed from whatever they were before to L&O...if its not L&O on TNT its the same movie for 3 nights in a row. I also miss USA's Up All Night with the cheesy B rated movies

MTV/MTV2/MTV3/VH1 etc....- Nothing to do with music anymore

A&E - Loved the biography, American Justice, City Confidential style shows now its reality crap again....Next 48 Hours, Intervention, Dogg, and so forth

HBO - Movies to S&TC, Sopranos, OZ, Big Love, and all the other series

Court TV/Tru TV - More about wild videos then anything else these days

TLC - More like watching the Home Improvement channel then TLC...Its more about learning how to flip a house or redecorate on a budget from decent to crap.

I have to respectfully disagree about the USA network. They've gone from ALL just reruns of other networks things to producing some terrific (Psych, Burn Notice...) and some reasonable (Monk...) original programming. I too, long for the days of Rhonda Shear and Up All Night, but I think they've done a pretty good job of coming up with something new.

I remember watching Knots Landing right after Dallas on SoapNet. Heck, they even had vintage episodes of Another World as well.

But now, it's nothing more than a hellhole for Teeny-Bopper shows like One Friggin' Tree Hill and countless others.

The only things they have left worth watching are Dallas and Ryan's Hope: all exiled into the wee-WEE hours of the mornings. And if SoapNET axes Ryan's Hope, then I'm officially done w/ them.

And GSN has been becoming slowly better since that dingbat loser Rich Cronin and his regime are gone from GSN.

And I'm totally done w/ TV Land for good! Why? Look at how bad they've done the closing credits of Bonanza this past Saturday. Don't tell me they're making the closing credits of classic shows on TV Land in the same mold as the way Spike TV does for CSI?

In some of those seasons they only had 2 sitcoms and in some cases one or both of them flopped because of low ratings.

In each decade since, they've had scores of sitcoms that would be considered classic or long running.

Lifetime and LMN have started to get worse. I guess they got tired of their reputation for airing nothing but TV movies from the 80s and 90s, so they decided to start throwing in big screen movies. Some of those movies are just. not. Lifetime. GOODFELLAS, people! GOODFELLAS aired on Lifetime! WHY?

And SOAPnet is a hellhole thanks to mister wonderful himself, Brian Frons. Gone are the days of "Knots Landing" and "Dynasty" and "Another World" and "Falcon Crest" and "Hotel" and the like. Welcome to the world of "MVP" and "Relative Madness" and "The Fashionista Diaries" and the like, all shows that have nothing to do with soaps. "MVP" was *cancelled* after only ten episodes in Canada. WHY do they think that it'd be successful on SOAPnet? Whatever happened to the regular marathons featuring episodes from the days when soaps were still good? Brian Frons ruins everything he touches and he needs to be penniless on the street all by himself.

i know everyone thinks tv movies are corny but i used to enjoy lifetimes tv movies. atleast if there was nothing good on the rest of the channels i could always fall into one of their movies. why is tv obsessed with reality tv? when will it end? viewers are tuning out in droves and if they're not they must have the "if you can't beat them, join them mentality" i must admit i did too for a while. at first i resisted the onslaught of reality tv then i began watching it. i think my first show was joe millionaire, then i watched surreal life whicch led to flavor of love, my fair brady and rock of love but now i'm just fed up. its not getting any better its only worse. i only watch tv for news or true crime documentary series. my tv shows on dvd are my only salvation.

Once the big 4 network corporations (CBS-Television, NBC-Universal, ABC-Dsiney, Fox/News Corp., more like News Crap) and these other horrible corporations (Viacom, Time Warner, w/out Ted Turner, etc.) got their mits on the cable industry, Cable TV is a wasteland these days.

And you can also add the College Sports channel as well! Once CBS got their mits on that channel, the volleyball games hardly or don't come on anymore on that channel and they began running too many marathons of Collegiate Nationals, which don't tell us what sports is gonna be what coming on.

I'll mention some of the same culprits that fell into the crapper:

CN went downhill especially when it stopped airing good cartoons. i also think that the demise of hanna barbera attributed to this, in the sense that the majority of cartoons on CN came from HB themselves and it was partly owned by hanna barbera, up until ted turner came along and screwed it up. dominated by japanese based anime shows

MTV- these days it is devoted to showing more reality tv based shows, as opposed to music videos and shows especially. less music, more shows which have absolutely nothing do with music itself
