COMING IN SEPTEMBER: SCRUBSBOO what a lousy show Scrubs is not and will never be a classic despite TVLand trying to make it one. Plus it already takes up good timeslots on two other stations.

TV Land August 2008--

Have you heard anything about Three's Company?

Pavan

Well obviously Three's Company isn't coming back in August. No details yet.

JulieSomoski
06-18-2008, 04:30 PM
I'd love to see Three's Company come back - Pavan, do you know why it's not on? Probably has something do with ratings or airplays (but didn't they just renew it last fall?)

DSfan
06-18-2008, 05:13 PM
Another station acquiring Cosby Show? I hope it will not be as bad as when N@N would air it nonstop a few years ago.

Does this mean that TBS, WGN, etc will still have the rights to the show? Or, is it going to be exclusive to Nick at Nite and TV Land come August?

Pavan
06-18-2008, 05:22 PM
Julie, I'm not sure what the situation is with Three's...but they could be saving up on it just in case something bombs this fall.

Cosby Show isn't a new acquisition, DSfan. All they are doing is borrowing it from Nick at Nite...it is the same deal (just like how Scrubs will be the same deal from Comedy Central, another sister station to TV Land). So it won't have an effect on WGN and TBS. TBS hasn't been airing the series for a while actually, but they still have rights.

I am looking forward to seeing The Cosby Show and Scubs in september of 2008 on TV Land Schedule.

The Cosby Show I really won't mind, although it is a pretty tired show (especially now that I own all 8 seasons on DVD-LOL) but Scrubs I can completely do without. It's the only NBC comedy I've watched in years, and not that bad of a show actually, but it's completely not for TV Land.

I don't hate "Scrubs", but I don't love it either. I'm only upset that it's coming to TV Land because it's still making new episodes and on reruns on two other channels (CW & Comedy Central). I know TV Land is going in a new direction, but that doesn't mean I'll ever accept it.

And as for "The Cosby Show"... give it a rest. N@N ran it into the ground, then TV Land aired it the same time N@N aired it. It's been aired enough. Let's go a lot longer without this show.

TV Land has delayed the second season of Myths & Legends to the fall. It will now launch Wednesday, October 8. Also...TV Land will launch another sitcom in October starting October 25. Care to take guesses? It is a '90s show and it isn't on any other cable network currently.

I agree...along with Just Shoot Me, and Mad About You. I don't think those belong on TV Land either...

We're getting less and less of the classics these days it seems...but at least it's better than Hogan's Heroes or The Beverly Hillbillies (for me at least lol!)

07-16-2008, 01:55 AM
There was no chance Blossom was coming. No syndication appeal for that. It would fit better on ABC Family or The N if it ever came back to TV, which is very slim if you ask me. But TV Land? No way.

I don't agree that 3rd Rock would fit on Nick at Nite...doesn't really fit their family audience. I do agree it doesn't fit TV Land. Honestly, TV Land seems to be getting all the 90s shows that are so-so in syndication and rural 60s shows. Nothing in between it seems. Scrubs and Cosby Show I don't count since they are just using them from other Viacom networks.

By the way, 3rd Rock is being leased by The Program Exchange starting this fall...no wonder TV Land bought it. CHEAP!

Correct me if I am wrong but was Blossom was on WGN-9

07-16-2008, 12:20 PM
Yeah....why does every 60s sitcom have to be rural? Granted - Hillbillies, Hogans, Andy do well for them but why can't we get some 60s material more like That Girl, Get Smart, etc? They have The Munsters and The Addams Family but don't air them. LITB just airs at 11:30. The 70s sitcoms are all Norman Lear except for M*A*S*H. Where is Mary Tyler Moore, WKRP, Bob Newhart, Happy Days, Kotter, Chico and the Man, etc? And they should give up on the 80s and 90s because most of those shows flop.
Notice what these idiots keep doing? They need a ratings boost and what do they do - go back to the CLASSIC SHOWS!!!!!!!!! like The Beverly Hillbillies, Lucy, Andy Griffith, M*A*S*H, Bonanza, Sanford, Hogan's Heroes. I don't see them going to Murphy Brown, Night Court, Designing Women, Mad About You, Just Shoot Me, etc. to boost the afternoon/evening/prime/late night numbers.

ALN has a good Monday night lineup with The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Newhart, WKRP in Cincinnati, and The Bob Newhart Show. Starts at 9:00pm EST. I can see I am missing nothing by not watching TVLand. I haven't tuned that channel in for a couple of years now and with good reason. Just more of the same old garbage. 200 channels and nothing on any of them. Great, Jeffersons must be doing good to get that 9pm-10pm slot

Jeffersons 9-10pm is just a placeholder until Scrubs comes the following week. Jeffersons will still air in the morning and 2-3am though.

I'm just happy we get The Jeffersons for a week at 9pm, plus it still has the Tuesday night mini-marathon until then - hopefully Scrubs will bomb, and we could get The Jeffersons there regularly.

TV Land has delayed the second season of Myths & Legends to the fall. It will now launch Wednesday, October 8. Also...TV Land will launch another sitcom in October starting October 25. Care to take guesses? It is a '90s show and it isn't on any other cable network currently.

Could it be on many local networks? Are the Simpsons or Seinfeld airing on any cable network right now?

Damn, TV Land is ticking me off lately. This network is on its way to hitting an alltime low the rate they're going.

I was really enjoying The Jeffersons on Tuesday nights, too :(

Remember, Sanford and Son expires at the end of this year and is not being renewed (along with Lucy). So they could be burning some of the plays off by doing this since it still does considerably well (but they claim the demographics are too old).

I wouldn't call Sanford & Son gone yet...I bet it will be renewed.

I think it'll be back as well - the show does consistenly good for them viewers-wise, although it brings in the older crowd. It's one of those shows they can always count on to bring in good ratings.

It's a shame sanford and son can't be replaced by Chico and the Man or Rhoda

I didn't even know rthe Jeffersons came on Tuesday Nights. I think I be watching TV One at that time because I asumed that Andy Griffith was on TV Land

It's only been coming on for 2 weeks now I believe. I can see how you thought AG would probably one - everyone else probably thought that, too, which is probably why they're yanking it off.

I'd love to see Rhoda on television again - I don't think it's been seen anywhere since it was airing on Nick at Nite back in the 90's, No matter what, I do agree that SAS needs to go, along with Andy Griffith and MASH. Now even Beverly Hillbillies is annoying me.

Thankyou for letting us (or me at least) know about it! I checked their schedule, and it sure is scheduled then! I don't why, but I'll definitely be watching! Hopefully if it does well, it can become a permanent weekend thing. It's a great episode, too - Brown Like Me Parts 1 and 2.

ALso, Designing Women will be airing at 3pm and 3:30 tomorrow - the episode is The First Day of the Last Decade parts 1 and 2, if anyone's interested. It seems like they're airing multi-part episodes or something.

Those airings are very random. I may actually begin to like those TV Land Saturday "marathons" they have listed, because it'll be like a different show each week. I'd love to see shows like Night Court and Three's Company get a few airings in then.

The one time only airings are always listed on the first post of a TV Land thread under "One Time Only Adjustments." So it wasn't "just" scheduled, it's been scheduled for that slot for a while.

That's odd - I don't know how I could have passed them up when reading your first post
