View Full Version : I Don't Know Which Camp I'm In...
Adamantium 06-15-2008, 03:28 PM I've watched all seven seasons of "Buffy" and I'm currently in the middle of the fourth season of "Angel." I can't choose which show I like better. They're both great. Even the seasons that most fans dislike, I seem to like.
I will say about "Angel", even though I like the later seasons casts, I think I prefer the early years when it was just the trio (Angel, Cordelia and Doyle/Wesley). It was simpler back then. And although some great stories have come along with the newer characters (Gunn, Lorne, Fred, Connor) I tend to think more fondly of the early episodes.
Both shows are great and it seems like all the people I know, whether on line or in person can pick a show they like better, I can't.
pfeifferobsessed 06-15-2008, 10:17 PM well, for me its buffy, but buffy led me to angel! my philosophy is that you cant like angel more cause it came from buffy...buffy is the mother show, therefore, buffy has to be number one! and spike is on buffy more! lol!
Adamantium 06-17-2008, 04:25 PM I think "Buffy" is the more classic show, and I enjoy watching episodes over again. But I'm really into "Angel" right now.
Adamantium 06-21-2008, 10:51 PM I've decided. While I like both shows, I'm going to have to go with......"Angel"!
I finished the series, and now I'm going back and watching certain episodes over again. I just really love the adventures of Angel, Cordelia, Doyle, Wesley, Gunn, Lorne, Fred, Connor, Spike and Harmony. As well as the villains, Lindsey, Lilah, Holtz, Angelus and everyone else.
So, yeah, "Angel" all the way!
cpmaz 07-04-2008, 02:58 AM I'd go with Buffy, but only because Buffy at its best was better than Angel at its best. However, Angel was more consistently good from the beginning of the series until the end (Season 7 of BTVS sucked, and Season 6 was redeemed only by a few high points).
In the end though, loved 'em both.
Adamantium 10-09-2008, 04:05 PM Time has passed since I've watched both series and I still prefer "Angel." I've been watching some episodes lately and to quote Maxwell Smart "And Loving It."
When I first watched "Buffy" I loved it. And didn't really want to watch "Angel", since I wasn't a big fan of his character on "Buffy." Plus I had read about the show, so I knew some of the spoilers before I started watching the series. I only bought it for completion's sake, and at first only watched the Buffy crossover episodes. But when I decided to watch them all in order, I ended up loving "Angel." And then, now, like I said earlier, I like "Angel" more than "Buffy." It's a funny world. ;)

Buffy will always be my #1 show, but I do think Angel was an awesome series. Like yourself Adam, there are fans of both shows that prefer Angel to Buffy. Not to sound like a talk show host or even a Judge, but can you share with us some reasons why you feel Angel was the more superior show?

I find the overall story of "Angel" to be more interesting than Buffy's. It seems more epic to me. You watch the first episode and you'd never have guessed where all they'd have gone by the end. Also, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" had a certain formula that "Angel" didn't follow. And that was it taking a whole season to battle The Big Bad and save the world. Angel's first season didn't follow that formula at all. It was more of an Angel Investigations show where Angel, Cordy and Doyle (later Wesley) would do their jobs from episode to episode. Wolfram & Hart was the overall baddie on the show. And they had an interesting story as well.
Plus at times, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" could be kind of whiny. Her whole relationship with Angel was kind of annoying (to me). It just seemed forced to me.
I also like the aspect of Angel searching for redemption, rather than whining like Buffy, who didn't seem to want the responsibility of having super strength to defeat the vampires and demons.
In the end, both shows are great.
Buffy's better. Seasons 2 and 3 of Angel are really boring IMHO.
masterdkd 05-30-2009, 02:38 PM I prefer watching Angel over Buffy. I liked the characters of Angel, Wesley, Fred, Lilah, Lorne and Doyle. I like how Wesley became being goofiness light Wesley to strong dark Wesley over the years. I like the chemistry of Wesley with Angel, Fred, Fred/Illyria and Lilah(evil witch).

You don't like CORDELIA!? :(

I thought season 3 of Angel was fantastic. Season 1 was the worst, IMO.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add Cordelia into it. That's another good reason why I like Angel.
