View Full Version : Benson's Girlfriends
BensonFan 06-14-2008, 11:55 PM He had a few of them on the show...let's see....
Senator Francine Wade (dumped Benson)
Kerrie the photographer (disappeared)
Linda Wilson (disappeared)
Jennifer (disappeared)
Senator Diane Hartford (they eventually got engaged)
Cynthia Howard (the lobbyist-disappeared)
Elizabeth (Benson's doctor--that's an ethical no-no  )
Then there were exes who came back into the picture:
Carol (she was married to Howard the successful business man)
Elizabeth (she was in a wheelchair and flew in to see him)
Then there were those who liked him but he didn't like them:
Casey (she followed him home from Hawaii)
Paula (she kept pursuing him after he was named Bachelor of the Month)
Did I forget any? And did you like any of these women?
blink 06-18-2008, 03:14 PM I don't know if this counts, but what about Winston's mother. She wasn't really a girlfriend but everybody thought she was because Winston started that rumor about his mom and Benson getting married.
I thought they were all likeable, exept maybe Kerrie the photographer. She seemed a bit pushy and somewhat jealous. :whatever:

True about Winston's mom....forgot that one!
Yeah, I couldn't stand Kerrie...she was annoying.
svt65 06-19-2008, 01:30 AM He certainly kept busy, didn't he?
Senator Francine Wade (dumped Benson)
-- I liked her faith in the system. Nice
Kerrie the photographer (disappeared)
Linda Wilson (disappeared)
Jennifer (disappeared)
-- don't recall these three, what eps were they in?
Senator Diane Hartford (they eventually got engaged)
-- couldn't stand her.
Cynthia Howard (the lobbyist-disappeared)
-- didn't like her, but seemed a strong character to me
Elizabeth (Benson's doctor--that's an ethical no-no )
-- yeah, that one I was like "It's so wrong!" Plus, wasn't she married??!
Then there were exes who came back into the picture:
Carol (she was married to Howard the successful business man)
-- too clingy and selfish. I got the feeling if she did go with Benson at the end, she'd ditch him again if she found somebody better; still don't trust her from the last time.
Elizabeth (she was in a wheelchair and flew in to see him)
-- liked her, smart, honest, and strong
Then there were those who liked him but he didn't like them:
Casey (she followed him home from Hawaii)
-- she could disappear into the Bermuda Triangle
Paula (she kept pursuing him after he was named Bachelor of the Month
-- my memories of her are too vague, what ep?

Kerrie and Paula were both from the episode "Embarrassing Moments" when Benson is named Bachelor of the Month. Kerrie was the photographer who came by to take pictures of Benson and started dating him that night (he asked her out to dinner). While at dinner a bunch of women kept coming up to Benson (asking for his autograph  ) and Kerrie was getting really jealous. Paula kissed Benson right in front of Kerrie and then later kept calling Benson and even showed up at his office.
Linda was in the "Double Date" episode--the one where Benson set Clayton up with his girlfriend's (Linda's) friend Jill and of course, Clayton was obnoxious all night and kept stalking Jill.
Jennifer was in more than one ep, but "Love In A Funny Phase" comes to mind. Her old boyfriend came to town to see her and Benson was getting jealous and didn't want her to see him. Then there was the whole restaurant scene when Benson was sitting secretly in the next booth eavesdropping on Jennifer's conversation with her old boyfriend. (It was very "Three's Company-like!")
Yes, Elizabeth was married but I think she and her husband were separated when she went out with Benson. But yes, everyone except her knows a doctor can't be dating his or her patients...unethical!!
As far as Senator Hartford, I wasn't a big fan of hers either. I won't say I hated her but I also don't think Benson should have married her. She was too emotionally needy and clingy despite being a strong political type. They'd get into an argument and all of sudden she'd say, "I'm not in the mood for lunch. I don't have an appetite" or some crap like that and then walk out. (And on that note, how many times have we heard that stupid line, not only on "Benson" but on other shows? I HATE that line! It's so cliche and just stupid. )
Scoobiedoo30 06-20-2008, 01:57 PM The only Girlfriend I really remembered is Kerrie The Photographer
catlover79 07-05-2008, 11:44 PM Actually, I think the one woman who would've been perfect for Benson was Kraus. Honest!!
blink 07-06-2008, 05:56 PM You maybe on to something, they were always antagonizing each other but you could tell for some reason they seemed quite fond of one another.
There was defiantly some chemistry going on between the two.
BensonFan 07-06-2008, 10:33 PM Oh yeah, there was a lot of sexual tension between those two. If they could have gotten past the antagonizing of each other, things could have heated up! :D

Like in that meat locker??
BensonFan 07-06-2008, 10:38 PM Like in that meat locker??
Oh, hell yeah...I kept thinking to myself that if they really wanted to warm up quickly, there was a MUCH BETTER way....:o

They might have had to if help hadn't arrived when it did...;)

Well, Kraus would have been ok with it. She thought he was Hans anyway. ;)

blink 07-09-2008, 01:27 AM Than there was the "Last Man on Earth" episode where Benson dreamed he and Kraus had to save the human race from extinction after averybody else got vaporized by a comet.
Come to think of it, Benson had some really crazy dreams. What about the Christmas episode when he dreamed what the future would be like if he wasn't around anymore. Gene Gatling had been inpeached, Clayton was the governor, Kraus had become a homeless bag lady and Katie was running around dressed up like a prostitute.
Do they make a psychiatric drug for really frightening dreams? If so, poor old Benson probably could have benefited greatly from it. :sleep2: :cuckoo
svt65 07-10-2008, 03:09 AM For myself, I got the impression that Christmas experience was real. I just think his mom *way* over-emphasised his influence. I watch that ep with much forbearance.
I also got the impression that the UFO thing was also supposed to be real. The audience is the only one who sees what Gene does, and too many things happen to be explained away!
Scoobiedoo30 07-16-2008, 12:28 PM there was one episode where Benson Played Kraus Husband because Kraus Mother was in Town but I do not see Kraus and Benson Together.
