View Full Version : Triangles
Hi! I think the order a fanfiction idea is going well. I'd like to resurrect the love triangle idea someone brought up months ago. Why don't we, again, jumpstart the writers? This time, with an idea for a love triangle. You pick the three people--anyone (yes, even the Howells if you like--if the writer wouldn't want anything "immoral" [but this is just fiction!] nothing has to actually happen--for example, with the Howells, the Skipper could be in love with or want Lovey but nothing happens--it is unrequited). They can even be from among the visitors. And the writer writes the fanfiction.
Kudos to Mrs. GH for all her writing for us. We really should give her some kind of an award for her efforts (and achievement, of course).
Let's do this--P.S. I explained earlier why I, myself, do not write--not yet.
I'm not replying to myself--I just got cut off before. Yes, let's do this. Any 3 people and any writer can pick the order up if he wants to. There have been many romances written but not many triangles except for visitors who wash up on shore suddenly. You can suggest a M/G/P or a M/GN/P--traditional favorites--or mix it up!!!
By the way, how can I get to this board fast? What is the automatic link through the message board. I've been taking the scenic route (I'm on the low-tech side so I always need assistance). Thanks.

Um... I marked the GI message board as a favorite and then just used that link everytime. hope that helped. :)
Thanks Im, I really appreciate your support for GI fanfic and every story I post, it means alot! But you do a bunch for the GI boards to; believe me!! Your thread ideas are just great! :)
I'm working on a short fanfic that's pretty different; at least for me. I should have it up really soon; plan on finishing it tonight!!
mrs.gingerhinkley 06-20-2008, 04:37 PM Any ideas on who to put together? Just out of curiosity... I don't know if I'd write this or not.. I mean, it would definately be interested and I'd like to read it, but I just don't know if I could pull it off without seeming weird...

I've always thought both MA and Ginger were potential partners for the Professor. That would make one triangle. As for two men and one girl ... one I would like to see would be Professor and Skipper and Ginger or Prof., Skipper, and MA. I personally don't read GI romance fic involving Gilligan because I just don't see him paired with anyone on the island. But that's just me and my taste in men.
All these ideas are do-able. And the beauty of this thing is that different writers can attack the same triangle from different angles! For example, an MAG person can do the M/GN/P one by having GN/P as a couple, for example, and Maryann, perhaps, having a problem with Gilligan and trying to make him jealous, or seeking the Professor out of anger with Gilligan. Or, Maryann could start out thinking the Professor is worth competing for with Ginger and then realize she likes Gilligan, instead. MAPs (this is kind of like handling dirty dipers for me or or cleaning vomit--a little cringe--but here, goes) can have Maryann winning the Professor's heart or the Professor winning Maryann's. Those who see the Professor as asexual can have both girls wanting him and neither winning (this is a popular view, by the way). The triangles can work for anyone since You, the writer, pick the winners/losers in the end. The Skipper/P/GN would be cute--if I had to write that one (I'm GN/P), it would be a little bittersweet because the Skipper would lose, of course. But, hey, sadness is OK!!
Thank you for your thank you, Mrs. GH--we really do take advantage of you with the fanfiction writing and I'm sure we'll continue to do so. You're great and you really do a good job. We should have awards every year. I really appreciate your comment about my threads, also. I was a bit concerned about people getting annoyed with their length sometimes (when I see how popular the games are). I just wish more people would respond to my episode features (I cry and cry and cry):) We should really comment on the individual episodes.
We should also direct people to the fanfiction boards via the general message board--we need advertizing.

 It made me laugh so hard. Of course, the thought did make me want too...:barf:

yeah, that's probably the way i would go if I wrote it. I always feel terrible for the Skipper though, he's really a great guy. Or... I could be very naughty and bring Mr. Howell into this... I would never have the guts to do that to Mrs. Howell! She might get off that island and hunt me down.

 gee, thanks. You are too much Im!! As far as your threads go... they're amazing! Don't even consider stopping because it is refreshing to find someone so enthralled by Gilligan's Island as I myself am! I always get a kick out of them and they leave me thinking much more when I watch the episodes. :D
Yes, you are right, we need advertisement! Like digital billboards or something  I was doing that for awhile before, but it really didn't do much. At least we have some response on this board as opposed to the nothingness that was before!
EvaGrubb 06-22-2008, 04:50 PM Im, you're not by any chance on LiveJournal are you? Over there, we have an entire community devoted to discussing individual episodes!! It is called Gilligan Rewatch, and we are always looking for new members who like to chat about the episodes. http://community.livejournal.com/gilliganrewatch/
In the future, when I respond to Gilligan Rewatch, I could also post my comments over here, too! I too love all of your forum topics -- keep it up!
I'm going to think on this challenge topic too. I am in the "thinkng stages" of something JonnyCarnahan challenged me to do in the last Fanfic Request, but I'd be interested in something like this, too! :)
jonnycarnahan 06-23-2008, 01:28 AM Hi! I'm so glad to hear you are still considering writing a fic based on my challenge. I recently saw a very young Russell Johnson in "Law and Order" with Ronald Reagan. He was such a puppy in it ... the youngest of three brothers. It was good, but I love old westerns.

I'd like to order a (I feel like I'm at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts) GI triangle fanfiction with Gilligan, Maryann and the Professor. Whatever you want to do.
Thanks! This can be the usual slavedriving of Mrs. GH, who writes all our fanfiction, or anyone else.
mrs.gingerhinkley 08-02-2008, 08:11 PM ^Haven't done anything with that idea and probably won't because I have so many other stories started. Actually, right now I'm almost finished this sort of love triangle like story. Won't say much more, might be interesting if I have the nerve to pull off the ending I want.
Anyway, I hope this is not a fruitless effort, but I would like to throw a request out there for anybody considering writing something. I was hoping to read a story about the early teenage years (13-16) of either the Professor, Ginger, or MaryAnn. It doesn't have to be terribly long, 2-4 pages would be suffice. I only ask that it would explore what the particular castaway would be like in their teen years. Maybe explore prom dates, school life, home life, personal thought to their future, ect. I'd be ecstatic if anyone attempted this!!
Another idea would deal with how the Howells met and what happened and such. This might be longer, but it really doesn't matter. I guess this would just explore what the Howells originally thought of each other and what they were like in their younger years.
That's all. Any contribution to this fanfic archive is always enjoyed by this member!
littlesoprano 12-29-2009, 11:00 PM This is seriously after the fact, but I've answered your fanfic challenge. Many, many thanks to callensensei for the guidance and suggestions!!
