I know Ted Danson is not and has never been big on baseball, but it only recently occurred to me that I never saw any publicity stills of Sam Malone with in uniform, or even just Ted Danson standing with a bat or ball! Anybody ever seen any photos Ted Danson did that were baseball-related?

Welcome to Sitcoms Online.

I remember when Cheers went off the air, Sports Illustrated did a fake "profile" of Sam Malone, and it featured a few pictures. One was an enlargement of the photo of Sam that hung at the bar, only they pasted Ted Danson's face over the real pitcher.
I believe there were other photos, but all of them were old baseball photographs with Ted Danson's face pasted in.

Hope this helps.

Occasionally on the show he'd wear a Socks jacket.

This is the only picture I know of that really relates to Sam and baseball. I have no clue where I found it either.

Thanks!

I just find it odd. I mean, you have an immensely popular show that features a character who is a former professional athlete in an immensely popular sport, for an immensely popular team. I'd have expected them to do a number of publicity stills with the character in costume and with the appropriate gear, just to try to cross-pollinate the fans and increase their numbers, but apparently this never really happened.

As far as the article goes, I know I have that somewhere. I should dig that issue out of mothballs and see what they've got!

I alwyas thought it would have been so cool if they sold posters of Sam Malone in action. I had a few posters of my favorite plaers on my walls when I was a kid.

A baseball card would have been even cooler!

Baseball cards? That's not a bad idea.
