I saw this brief article today in a local newspaper:

These 2 kids are probably too young to have seen the UM episode. So I wonder where they got the idea?

What a weird story, why were they even laying there in the street? It's hard to imagine anyone doing that unless they were drugged, beaten or something like that. The article didn't reveal much...

The latest article about this story sheds some light on what happened. Apparently the 2 boys were star gazing but it still does not explain why they chose to lay down next to each other in the street.
My guess: they felt reasonably safe since they lived in a court with no thru traffic. And Im thinking they chose the street for symbolic or ritualistic reasons. It enhanced what they were doing, which was really a rite of passage and bonding experience. (I remember when I was kid sitting outside at nite during the summer sharing thoughts and ideas with my friends. I felt sort of grown up)

I think some kids just don't have common sense. On the news recently they had a story about 2 teenage girls that were hit by a train in Maine. Apparently the girls skipped school and were sunbathing themselves.
Stupid?!?!? Very stupid for them to do that. One lost a leg and one lost a foot.
Some kids just don't think of what might happen. Even if they think they could get away before something happened, it may not always work out that way.
So there was a segment on UM about something like this? I don't remember it.

Yeah, "Friends to the End" is an early UM segment available on the Bizarre Murders DVD. Two teenage boys, good friends, were run over by a train and killed. They were spotted by the conductor laying across the tracks, prior to the accident, in what authorities later described as a marijuana induced sleep. The parents disagreed.
They believe the bodies were placed on the tracks by someone, possibly connected with the local drug trade, following a severe beating. If you get a chance, get a copy of the DVD and check it out, its a interesting story. You can also search this board for threads regarding the case. Im sure there are numerous discussions to sift thru.
