I don't know if it was just my local cable's programming, because it wasn't even listed on WGN's website, but while my son and I were watching their station yesterday just hanging out at home (Sun, June 8th), they kept advertising a Classic Comedy three hour marathon between 7pm and 10pm, and in that promo were clips of the Classic 39... I couldn't believe it, and just thought that they were using the clips of The Honeymooners in their promo to make it seem cool, since I didn't hear them specifically say that The Honeymooners were actually going to be part of it... I really wasn't paying close attention to the TV, since I was doing stuff online mostly at that time...
so, starting at 7pm Eastern, they aired two old episodes of WKRP In Cincinnati, which took it to 8pm... at that time, they then showed two old episodes of The Bob Newhart Show, which took it to 9pm... then right at that time, to my surprise, I hear The Honeymooners starting drum-roll and the classic beginning... I was like, what????... :eek: lol... they started from the beginning of the Classic 39, because they showed TV or Not TV, then from 9:30pm - 10pm they aired Funny Money, the second episode, as they were presented to the viewing audience by CBS in 1955...
maybe it's not a big deal to many who live up North because some of the stations up there are showing them again, but it was pretty exciting to me because living down here in South Florida, I would say that it has been over 12 years (maybe even 15) that I personally have seen The Honeymooners aired on regular television... I know it's a Chicago station, but I've been watching WGN on local cable down here for many years (it's always been part of even basic cable's channel line-up), and I can't remember the last time they showed them either... it was just really really nice to actually see them on television again, and it caught me surprise, which was kinda cool... anyway, I just thought I would share this, and did anyone else happen to catch this too?
