What do you think was the most gullible thing that Beaver did or believed and why?

For me, I think it was "The Price of Fame" episode where Beaver was led to think (by Larry) that Mrs. Rayburn had a spanking machine in her office, so he goes to check, the custodian doesn't see him, and he gets locked in!

Or "The Book Report" where Beaver is led to believe from Gilbert, that he could do his book report on "The Three Musketeers" based on a TV movie. (Because, teachers never know what's on television!) LOL! What others come to mind?

In the episode 'Nobody Loves me' Richard is talking to him about kids not being loved because they are going through the awkward age then Ward and June get on him for being messy and the way he is.

I don't think those mentioned so far measure up to "Kite Day," in which he believed if he could find someone with Indian blood and he could get that person to do the "rain dance" that it would rain and Kite Day would be called off. Or that is he just said he was a knight, in "Beaver and Ivanhoe," that meant he could go around beating up bigger guys to 'right their wrongs.'

Those are for belief. For things he was led to do out of sheer gullibility, there's saying the Spanish phrase to his friend, Chuey, that Eddie Haskell taught him-- didn't he already know that Eddie loves to cause trouble for him? He should have been at least skeptical and asked Wally. And there was calling Linda Dennison a "bad name," as urged by his classmates, to 'prove' he wasn't in love with her. And, of course, climbing the billboard in "In the Soup." Didn't he know that Whitey was as much of a chicken as he claimed he (Beaver) was if he refused to climb it? The idea of being so stupid to prove he's not stupid  .

Yeah, what he said! LOL! It looks like you covered my ideas. Here's one. How about the time where Larry told Beaver that the found money was probably dropped from the sky out of an airplane? That is one of my favorites.

When Beaver believed that his dad walked 20 miles every day as a kid so then bet Whitey that he could walk 20 miles.

Or anytime Beaver believes Eddie, then gets himself into trouble because he listened to Eddie.

I think that the money out of the airplane, and the spanking machine, are the most over-the-top.

Also when Eddie convinces Beaver, that the new neighbor wants to kill him, because his wife gave the Beav a peck on the cheek.

Yeah, the part about the neighbor wanting to kill him is not my favorite episodes, I mean Wally was in on it too and he never told Ward about the teasing untill 5 or 6 years later... LOL

I remember the money falling out of an airplane story. That was so funny.

That's one of my favorite early episodes. Wally wasn't perfect, to me it showed he was a believable older brother. From my experience and people I knew who had older siblings growing up- having tricks pulled on you by an older brother or sister was part of being a kid.

Well, for those who have had younger siblings or older siblings who are no more than 5 years older/younger, you are so damn lucky!!

My eldest sister is maybe 15 years older and middle sister is 10 years older than me.... :( They and I have different dads...

My young sibling who is 13 and my youngest sibling is 10 and they have a different mom than I do. :(

So I guess you can say I kinda was an only child cause my oldest siblings were married by the time I turned 10. :(

My oldest sister is about 10 years older than me, she was in high school when I was in grade school. But my other sister is around 5 years older than me, and though both of my sisters were cool sisters to have growing up, my one sister(5 yrs older) definitely played her fair share of tricks on me- from the "Have you seen a match burn twice?" trick...Ouch! To the countless times she convinced me there was someone in my closet or under my bed after her just taking me to see a horror film on the big screen.

Most of Beaver's friends should have been beaten bloody for the crap they talked him into doing; especially Larry Mondelo.
Just kidding, but they sure did take advantage of his good nature and naivete.

There were several gullible things that stood out including:

1. Mrs. Rayburn keeping a spanking machine in her office and Beaver getting locked in.

2. Beaver making a face for his yearbook picture.

3. Calling Linda Dennison a "smelly old ape" and hitting Larry in the stomach.

In epidsoe 3 where Eddie tells Beaver that since he used Ward's library card and had an overdue book, the library would throw Ward in jail.

Has to be climbing into the soup bowl on the billboard. The consequences were big for that one. The fire department had to come and get him down. And by the time the fire department arrived half the town of Mayfield was standing underneath the billboard. Very embarrassing for Beaver!

Which season did that air? That was towards the middle of the run, right?

I'm not sure what season but it was after Larry Mondello left and Beaver was hanging out with Gilbert and Whitey. (in this case it was Whitey that talked Beaver into climbing the billboard) Larry was only on for the first two seasons so this had to be at least season three. So that would be around the middle of the run.

Larry was on until the Fall of 1960( Season 4), his final episode was 'Beaver's Big Contest'.

Beaver was hardly the first or last kid to be afraid of the 'library police', Stephen King himself was afraid of them, then when he found out one of his son's was also afraid of them he wrote the novella- 'The Library Policeman'

When Beaver was trying to hypnotize people and Eddie found out what he was doing and acted like he had been hypnotized by Beaver making Beaver believe that he had actually succeeded at hypnotizing someone.

I think one of the "saddest" was when Beaver was going to buy that camera for Wally's birthday and Larry talked him into buying the bow and arrow set. Larry pointed out that Wally didn't invite Beaver along for his hamburger party. I wanted to smack the crap out of Larry, especially when he broke that bow and arrow set and then just walked off. Poor Beaver! That was one of the few times I've ever seen him cry.

Another was when Larry talked him into smoking that pipe that Ward got as a gift from Germany. I forget who sent it to him. Fred Rutherford, maybe? I didn't like that episode much.

Yeah, that was Fred Rutherford who gave Ward that pipe. I also agree with the bow and arrow episode. It WAS sad - but then again Beaver learned a very valuable lesson from the experience.

In season six where Beaver let the bum in the house. Lucky for him it was early 1960's small town America.

Jack

With regards to this, when I was in about the second grade, there was talk among students that there was an "electric paddle" in the school office. I think while most actually believed this, I don't think anyone of us actually dared enough to try and go there and see it. The office was a place that you stayed away from.

Yesterday they showed the ep where Ward helps the boys build a motor powered car with the lawnmower engine. Then, Larry dares Beaver to take him around the block. Beaver gets in trouble with a patrol officer and has to go to court with Wally.

Yeah, it's not like having a real brother or sister, I don't think.

yeah, that was one of the best episodes l think.
I liked when Beaver was making stuff up to the judge, saying his parents were on a ship. The judge asks him the name of the ship, or what kind of ship, and beaver asks Wally the name of the ship?
