LOL, No I have never done that. The only time that I would do that is if there was a family emergency.

I had been told when I made a job interview, "In case you can't make that appointment or need to reschedule, please call a day before." I never had made a change, but if some emergency came up, I would have.

I think it's a very bad idea unless there's no way to avoid it.

If I were the HR I wouldn't even bother with the hiring process. Cancelling the interview would show me that you have a lack of determination or enthusiasm for the job. If it was not a family emergency or a personal emergency then I would just skip over you and go to the next candidate.

How would a HR person even know if you really had an emergency though? I would feel bad for someone if they did have an emergency and called in to reschedule, and then that HR person would not believe them and have a negative feeling abt them when they showed up for their interview.

When you call, you should give a reason as to why you are rescheduling. If I was interviewing you and you were to reschedule without a reason, I would feel as if you were just too lazy to get up and come in for the interview, or that you just did find the time. So always give a reason as to why you are changing the date and or time. That goes with NEVER show up late to an interview.

LOL, No I have never done that. The only time that I would do that is if there was a family emergency.

I've been fortunate I've never had to do that because rescheduling DOES LOOK BAD. But if there were a true emergency, like a serious illness or death in the family, then of course you have to call and reschedule. A decent employer would undertand and give someone the benefit of the doubt once. But I'd be sure to immediately send a thank-you note for rescheduling and when I did come in bring documentation and immediately offer it.

Rescheduling a second time is a no no. At that pt., no matter how you slice it the person is not ready to work. If its an emergency that's continuing then they need to direct their time to that. A second time for anything else means the person is also not ready to work, but for other reasons.
