View Full Version : Has anyone ever scheduled a job interview and then called to reschedule it?? TVFactFan 06-09-2008, 04:06 PM my friend just told me she had a interviewed scheduled and then called to RESCHEDULE it-lol have you ever heard of something so crazy?-lol Brieannas21 06-09-2008, 05:07 PM my friend just told me she had a interviewed scheduled and then called to RESCHEDULE it-lol have you ever heard of something so crazy?-lol LOL, No I have never done that. The only time that I would do that is if there was a family emergency. Ireneparalegal 06-09-2008, 05:10 PM I had been told when I made a job interview, "In case you can't make that appointment or need to reschedule, please call a day before." I never had made a change, but if some emergency came up, I would have. The Great One 06-09-2008, 06:09 PM I think it's a very bad idea unless there's no way to avoid it. TVFactFan 06-09-2008, 06:12 PM I think it's a very bad idea unless there's no way to avoid it. Yeah especially when you have NO JOB-lol The Great One 06-09-2008, 06:17 PM Yeah especially when you have NO JOB-lol Definitely!!! BarneyFife 06-09-2008, 06:45 PM LOL, No I have never done that. The only time that I would do that is if there was a family emergency. Same here! Brieannas21 06-09-2008, 07:14 PM If I were the HR I wouldn't even bother with the hiring process. Cancelling the interview would show me that you have a lack of determination or enthusiasm for the job. If it was not a family emergency or a personal emergency then I would just skip over you and go to the next candidate. Ireneparalegal 06-09-2008, 07:16 PM How would a HR person even know if you really had an emergency though? I would feel bad for someone if they did have an emergency and called in to reschedule, and then that HR person would not believe them and have a negative feeling abt them when they showed up for their interview. To spend time with him? Yeah, and it' not even her man-lol Brieannas21 06-09-2008, 07:22 PM How would a HR person even know if you really had an emergency though? I would feel bad for someone if they did have an emergency and called in to reschedule, and then that HR person would not believe them and have a negative feeling abt them when they showed up for their interview. When you call, you should give a reason as to why you are rescheduling. If I was interviewing you and you were to reschedule without a reason, I would feel as if you were just too lazy to get up and come in for the interview, or that you just did find the time. So always give a reason as to why you are changing the date and or time. That goes with NEVER show up late to an interview. Ireneparalegal 06-09-2008, 07:23 PM Yeah, and it' not even her man-lol He's married? Brieannas21 06-09-2008, 07:23 PM And she missed the interview because of a GUY she has only know for 3 weeks, a person who has a JOB-lol Well that shows me that she doesn't want a job. The only time that I would do that is if there was a family emergency. I've been fortunate I've never had to do that because rescheduling DOES LOOK BAD. But if there were a true emergency, like a serious illness or death in the family, then of course you have to call and reschedule. A decent employer would undertand and give someone the benefit of the doubt once. But I'd be sure to immediately send a thank-you note for rescheduling and when I did come in bring documentation and immediately offer it. Rescheduling a second time is a no no. At that pt., no matter how you slice it the person is not ready to work. If its an emergency that's continuing then they need to direct their time to that. A second time for anything else means the person is also not ready to work, but for other reasons. |
