Here we are starting to see the boys nearing manhood. Ricky sees this attractive riding instructor and pretends he needs lessons to be near her. His plans works for a bit and in reverse, he gives her guitar lessons. Then she catches him doing some expert riding while showing off to Wally. He attempts to make up with her while out on a hayride. In the end, the whole gang is singing songs around a campfire. I really enjoy the song "Get Along, Cindy, Cindy, I'll Marry You Someday"--everyone has a part to shine.
Overall a pleasant episode, but not overly memorable.

I had this episode already from the first Shout! set, but got it again on the Mill Creek collection--I think I enjoy it more on the Mill Creek set because here it is unedited (I think).

I love this episode, partly because my daughter is named Cindy. Her uncle used to sing this song to her when she was small. I also like Walter Brennen singing it in "Rio Bravo".

Yes, I enjoyed Rio Bravo very much too. I have to go back and watch Rick's Riding Lesson again. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow morning.

I got a DVD of Rio Bravo for Christmas and still haven't watched it, guess I'm "savoring" it when I can watch it entirely at one time. It's a long movie and I can't seem to find that much time to just sit right now. I live in the South and corn is coming in, so I am busy "creaming" it for the freezer. Next, it's shrimp and blueberries. Can you tell I'm older than the hills with all this freezing food for the winter?

Why Honeybea aren't you the Harriet of our little group here! :D

Rich, I guess that makes you Ozzie

Maybe I'm the Wally of the bunch! (Although I prefer to be David!)

I appreciate the comment! I wish I was as pretty as Harriet. I cook alot, so I may have one up on Harriet there. I read she never cooked, just not enough time since they worked all the time.

NO! I wanna be David!!! Only kidding! Being ol Oz is just by fine me. Unfortunately I can eat just like him - but as you know no more packing it away for me. But I will NOT be Wally or Joe Randolph. I'd even settle for Doc Williams except I'm not bald or thin:lol:

No, I think it's great you know how to and enjoy doing this. Unf. my best friend is the toaster oven and microwave. So many places in NYC to get ready made stuff and don't have the time to cook (also, truth be told, I'm lazy in this area, but I know if I put my mind to it I could do a simple meal without wrecking it - like Lisa Douglas for example LOL. )

I may still be slightly chunky like Wally --oh heck, he was FAT!!!
but that is the only resemblance--I'm no moocher, sponger, or lazy bum.

So that settles it, I'm David :D

Only eating them - but NOT FOR A WHILE THOUGH - when I get down to 160 (my target weight is 155) I may have them as a treat but I'm going to find calorie reduced ones & have it with calorie reduced syrup (a little cause it will still be HIGH in carbs). Right now my big breakfest kick is Kashi Go Lean with 1% milk.

Well finally last night went back and revisited this ep. What's particularly cute in it is that the pretty little instructor does her bit of scamming too, pretending she doesn't know diddly abt playing the guitar and then does all that pretty nifty playing at the end. And Wally with that poor mare. Who can blame the horse for not wanting to move with fat Wally on her back LOL.

And yes I agree with your take on the ep, a rather nice one but not the creme de la creme (like Wally's Traffic Ticket, The Fraternity Rents A Room, etc.)

Oh, just of this--and BTW, I really like his and Sam's commentaries on the 1st Shout! set.

The commentaries act strangely on my living room DVD player--I will hear Sam responding to Dave, but not Dave himself!! I have to come to my bedroom to listen to it completely.

And all those plugs for Dave's movies at the end of the episodes--are any of these movies out on DVD?

I first had some problems with the audio too, they are both on different channels...one on the right speaker and one on the left speaker, but Dave is definately much lower......as for "roleplaying"....lol.....can I be Thorny? I always liked Don Defore and thought it was odd that his characters absence was never explained. I also liked "Doc" but have no medical background! As for the song "Cindy", don't forget Andy Griffith also sung it in one of his episodes!

As much as I watch Andy Griffith, I just can't recall him singing "Cindy". Now I'll have to go through and find that episode to watch.

Thanks...I'll try and live up to the pressure!....lol....have to go and meet Oz in the backyard or was it on the front steps.

By the way...I seriously live one town over from Ridgefield Park, New Jersey and the house at 370 Teaneck Road where Ozzie grew up is less than 5 minutes from me and still stands today. A street near the local High School was named "Ozzie Nelson Drive" about 15 years ago and I attended the dedication as did Don Nelson and the boys Gunner and Matthew. It was very touching and something I will never forget.
