As a kid of the '70s I had Gnip Gnop at some point.
But how come I never realized until I came across a nostalgia site that the name is "Ping Pong" spelled backwards?

 I remember wanting that game in the 70's. I had read somewhere that it was PING PONG spelled backwards. I had forgotten that until you posted this.

this reminds me of a toy i had called arcadia. it was an electronic skeet shoot game. to play you had to turn the lights off in the room and this device would project an image onto the ceiling or wall and you'd "shoot" at the image with this gun that had a sensor or something as the picture moved across the wall. it was a fun game. i was going to get one on ebay for my nephews for xmas (i start early) and there was one on ebay. i didn't like the price so i typed it into google to see if i could find it on a website cheap and articles came up saying it was recalled because it had caused fires by the unit overheating, shorting out, melting the cartridge and starting a fire! guess i won't be getting that for xmas! i think i'll buy the gnip gnop instead, ebay had a few with updated packaging.
