View Full Version : Judith - Where is Silver Spoons - Season 2?
Movie12 06-05-2008, 03:19 PM Judith,
Do you know when or if Silver Spoons - Season 2 will be getting released on DVD soon or in the future? Silver Spoons - Season 1 came out June 2007 and now it's 1 year later and I've heard nothing about Silver Spoons - Season 2. Any info would be great.

As much as I would love to say otherwise, it doesn't appear to be coming. Sony said the sales on Season One were far less than what they had anticipated so they were shelving the entire project. If I hear anything else along the way, I promise this group will be the first to know!

Not good news indeed. Judith, could you see maybe if they might want to license it out to another company who might actually finish the series? I'm sure Shout! Factory or another company would want to help us fans out.
Robert 13 03-19-2009, 11:05 AM Just what the hell are Sony's expectations?!?!? I mean how many copies do they expect to sell. As far as their expecations go, many of their tv shows are suffering on dvd because of it. I mean, they need to be realistic. They own the shows. So they should lower their expectations or lower their production and maybe release limited edition sets. It just doesn't make sense. Then, they go and release Seasons 2 and 3 of "Barney Miller"?!?! huh????
Judith A. Moose 03-19-2009, 12:44 PM Robert, hon, you might want to calm down a bit... All of the studios set a sales goal and those that meet or exceed said goal get released before others do. They're also more interested in releasing the newer series before they finish the older ones. The newer shows are in some cases still on the air and the series viewers run right out for them. That's why seasons of brand new shows are out by the time the first season ends. In other words, there's really no sense when it comes to releasing the remaining seasons. Sony's on my "hit list" at the moment anyway. They're doing the same thing to the last three seasons of "Hart To Hart" too.

Judith as an avid SS fan who bought S1 on DVd, i am eagerly awaiting S2. PLEASE keep after Sony or at least try to get them to give this one to Shout! who would do it properly.
I know this show doesn't sell as well as newer ones but with Sony's recent release of the final 2 seasons of the Partridge Family & S3 of Barney Miller, I'd like to think there's always hope. Please keep doing what you can. Thanks.

Wow, I didn't expect to hear this kind of news. It's very disappointing I must say. I thought the sales were going to be great, but I guess not. I really appreciate you keeping us all posted Judith and I hope you will hear something about Season 2 at some point in time.

Sorry, didn't mean to get all fired up. It's just unbelievable to me that "Barney Miller" could be selling better than either "Silver Spoons" or "Hart to Hart". But I am also a huge H2H fan and was eager to collect the rest of that series as well. So, like you, Sony is not on my preferred studios list right now because of this and the other shows they have discontinued.
Marvo301 04-06-2009, 06:09 PM Well Sony did eventually give us all four seasons of The Partridge Family so there is at least a glimmer of hope for Silver Spoons. We may just have to be very patient like we were with Partridge Family.
newwavepopman 07-22-2009, 07:14 PM How can a show like Silver Spoons go unnoticed to me is crazy and yet a show like Punky Brewster gets treated with royalty and given 3 or 4 box sets, when nobody really cares about that show.I'm sure that Silver Spoons has a lot more of a fan following than Punky Brewster ever did.If I had to guess I would say that Silver Spoons has more of a fan base too.So why not get treated with royalty like Punky Brewster? Besides what fan ages are going out and buying the box sets of that show? Surely young kids of today, have never even heard of Punky Brewster and of it's existence today?
Judith do you have a way of getting in touch with the right people and right sources over at Shout Factory? If so maybe you can convince them enough that Silver Spoons does have a big fan base still, and are still waiting for the entire series to come out onto DVD.Even the stars of the show have been waiting for them to come out like Ricky, and Erin, and I hear thay are not happy about this either.

And you will be for a whole lot longer, because Sony's still saying they're not putting it out and at the moment, Shout Factory can't get the okay from them to produce it either. I'll stay on it, but there's not a whole lot that I can do for now. Sorry!

I know there's not much you can do but please do what you can. I guess at this point the only option is to hope they let Shout! Factory have it. They already have a relationship with Shout! and it makes no sense for Sony to let the show sit ontheir shelves not making ANY money for them while there's a company willing to license it from them. But of course Sony isn't known for their great way of treating their TV shows!

Thanks a lot for your efforts to get the show out on DVD, and your updates here... :)

While you are at it, I have been calling like crazy for information about the remaining seasons of "The Facts of Life", "The Jeffersons" and "All in the family". Is there any info about these shows?
Movie12 12-03-2010, 01:20 AM Judith - Is there any new info regarding Silver Spoons - Season 2 and Seasons 3 - 5? If Sony doesn't want to release anymore Season Sets of Silver Spoons than they need to speak up, let Shout! Factory know, and sell them the rights. I'm sure Shout! Factory would love to pick up Silver Spoons and release Seasons 2 - 5 on DVD. It's been 3.5 years now since Season 1 was released and Season 2 is still not released on DVD after all this time. Shout! Factory even released all 4 seasons of Punky Brewster on DVD. I hope Shout! Factory will do the same thing with Silver Spoons if Sony sells them the rights.
TV_Fan 12-04-2010, 10:46 AM Unfortunately it doesn't look like Shout! Factory will be picking up Silver Spoons anytime soon :( http://www.shoutfactory.com/community/2482/thread.aspx

This really sucks. I thought a show like this that was so popular in the 1980s would have sold really well. This is really a surprise that the sales were so low. Maybe Shout! Factory could look into working out some sort of deal with Sony with getting the rights and if they do have success, then maybe Shout! Factory could just sell Seasons 2 - 5 right on their web site instead of putting it out in all the stores. That way the fans that do want it, can go right to Shout! Factory's web site and order it and Shout! Factory would still make a profit. Shout! Factory did the same thing with Small Wonder - Season 2. I wonder if they plan on doing the same thing for Small Wonder - Seasons 3 and 4.
Anything, let's not give up hope. I still believe Silver Spoons - Seasons 2 - 5 will get released someday on DVD.
