On one of the episodes, Dorothy sings a song, standing next to someone playing the piano, or maybe sitting on the piano bench with someone... I want to say that it was out on the linai (sp?)... It was a slow song, sentimental... The word "moon" may be in the title (maybe not). This has been driving me crazy because I love this song every time I catch it in an episode... Can anyone help???

I only remember Dorothy singing a handful of times on the show. She and Sophia sang I Got You Babe for the talent show. She sang in the episode where she started hanging out at the bar that was a regular hangout for Blanche, although I don't remember the songs off the top of my head. I don't recall anyone ever singing anything on the lanai.
I also dont recall anyone singing a song out on the lanai. The only songs I remember Dorothy singing was "What will I do" at Blanches piano bar, the "Miami" theme song with Rose, and "I got you babe" with sophia.

There are two songs sung by Dorothy at the Rusty Anchor in this great episode. The one you're looking for is an Irving Berlin song titled "What'll I Do?" The bolded part is what Dorothy sings.
Lyrics:
'Tis broken and cannot be mended
You must go your way and I must go mine
But now that our love dreams have ended
(chorus)
What'll I do when you are far away
And I am blue, what'll I do?
What'll I do when I am wondering who
Is kissing you, what'll I do?
What'll I do with just a photograph
To tell my troubles to?
When I'm alone with only dreams of you
That won't come true
What'll I do?
Do you remember a night filled with bliss?
The moonlight was softly descending
Your lips and my lips were tied with a kiss
A kiss with an unhappy ending...
(chorus)
What'll I do when you are far away
And I am blue, what'll I do?
What'll I do when I am wondering
Who is kissing you, what'll I do?
What'll I do with just a photograph
To tell my troubles to?
When I'm alone with only dreams of you
That won't come true
What'll I do?

The other song sang at the Rusty Anchor was "Hard-Hearted Hannah." Again, bolded for what Dorothy sings:
Lyrics:
In old Savannah
I said Savannah
The weather there is nice and warm
The climate's of a southern brand
But here's what I don't understand
They've got a gal there
A pretty gal there
Who's colder than an artic storm
Got a heart just like a stone
Even nice men leave her alone
They call her "hard hearted Hannah"
The vamp of Savannah
The meanest gal in town
Leather is tough, but Hannah's heart is tougher
She's a gal who loves to see men sufferTo tease them and thrill 'em
To torture and kill 'em
Is her delight they say
I saw her at the seashore with a great big pan
There was Hannah pourin' water on a drownin' man
She's hard hearted Hannah
The vamp of Savannah, G-A
The call her "hard hearted Hannah"
The vamp of Savannah
The meanest gal in town
Talk of your cold, refridgerating mamas
Brotha she's a polar bear's pajamas
To tease them and thrill 'em
To torture and kill 'em
Is her delight they say
An evening spent with Hannah sitting on your knees
Is like travelin' through Alaska in your BVDs
She's hard hearted Hannah
The vamp of Savannah, G-A
Can you imagine a woman as cold as Hannah?
She's got the right name "the vamp of Savannah"
Anytime a woman can take a great big pan
Start pourin' water on a drownin' man
She's hard hearted Hannah
The vamp of Savannah, G-A
Hope this helps!!!!
