No Wonder Years, huh? :(

I've completely given up on this network. The only thing I'll be watching is he special Drew Carey airing at 10:30 1 Thursday night, which is just sad. Pavan, whatever happened to that afternoon sitcom block we were all hoping for, or even any kind of expansion to the afternoon? They have so many sitcoms just sitting around, like TWY, Growing Pains, WTB?, etc, and they're not using them.

Julie, you know they weren't going to expand in the summer since they already announced they will expand to 4pm in the fall. If there is any more expansion, it will be after the fall. Hope to answer that in our interview.

I could not agree more. I used to DVR two hours of ION every night - Alice and Drew Carey. Now, I don't even turn it in. I did notice, however, some interesting movies - but my concern is that they would be cut to death.

Forgot they were expanding in the fall. Still, they have so many better shows they could air. I'm already tired of the Harvey/Wayans Block that's taking up 2 hours of the schedule there. They could air maybe an airing each of WTB, Growing Pains, The Wonder Years, and Drew Carey in there instead.

Finally, Wayans Bros. is gone. It's about time - this network is looking up after all. Although I still would have rathered something different, like The Wonder Years or Growing Pains. I wonder if the schedule they planned for the fall will still hold up . . .

Well, I'm happy to see Mr. Cooper--will finally give me something watch so I don't have to be stuck while someone else wants to watch Judge Judy! :lol:

happy that ion is bringing in hanging with mr. cooper, but disappointed that their lineup of shows are already on other stations - plus the recent 90's lineup. oh ion how you disappoint me.

But it seems like once Ion stats airing shows and you get attatched to them, they suddenly pull them away again... :(

I would like to see family ties come on i on telveison. maybe even boy meets worlds. I also wouldn't mind if they showed get smart. i wish they would put on the wonder years.

Award-Winning Sitcom Starts Summer Evenings with a Laugh Attack


WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., July 7, 2008 -- ION Television announced today that, through a deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, it will launch the sitcom “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper” on its weeknight schedule beginning with two back-to-back episodes, airing July 7th from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. (ET). The popular series, in a branded “Laugh Attack” hour, will then continue in this timeslot Mondays through Fridays.

"Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper’ will be a really fun way to kick off ION Television’s summer evenings," said Brandon Burgess, Chairman and CEO, ION Media Networks. “Not only is the sitcom terrifically entertaining, but it appeals to a broad, multicultural audience.”

In this family comedy, irreverent former basketball star Mark Cooper (comedian Mark Curry) coaches the high school team and works as the coolest substitute teacher around. This easygoing prankster has to share his home with three outspoken females (one under 10 years old!) and, at work, butts heads with his former babysitter – the dynamic Nell Carter – who is now the formidable school principal. The popular series also features Holly Robinson Peete, Raven-Symoné, Saundra Quarterman, Marquise Wilson, Omar Gooding and Dawnn Lewis.

“Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper” originally aired from 1992–1997, joining ABC’s famous TGIF block in its second season, and winning two awards in 1993: Top TV Series from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and Broadcast Music, Inc.’s TV Music Award. Additionally, young cast members Raven-Symoné and Omar Gooding were nominated for multiple Young Artist Awards, while Raven-Symoné was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award.

“Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper” joins “The Steve Harvey Show,” “Family Feud,” “Quantum Leap,” “The Dead Zone,” “ER” and a variety of blockbuster movies on the ION Television summer schedule.

They went back down....hmmmmmmmm. Maybe the summertime dip all networks get since people are vacationing, doing outdoor stuff, etc?

Or maybe there just isn't anything decent to watch? lol

This network is doomed in their present state.

I'm hoping their afternoon lineup is what's pushing this network to their only hope of success-LOL, basically because it's sitcoms, but with the sitcoms they're airing, that is highly unlikely. Maybe Mr. Cooper can do something for them.

Ratings are compared to same period of the prior year, so viewing habits are negated. That said, they are WAY down.

Given that their primetime ratings only draw a 0.2 HH, daytime ratings probably don't even register.

There must be some sweating going on in the boardroom, but the real test will come once their entire new lineup is implemented this fall. But I don't see anyone tuning in to that stuff either.

At this point I'm actually hoping for Ion to go bankrupt. That way their stations will be sold at auction and there is at least hope that new owners will put something interesting on them.

I agree VisualSensation. I'd just assume them go bankrupt and maybe the affiliate stations could go to RTN where its not already available, .2 Network or go independent. It'd be nice to see a new network start fresh and do something like ION was doing last summer.

And they went back down again. Seriously, with their lineup and all the money it cost, they should be getting double, if not triple, what they're getting now.

The last time I tuned into Ion was the last day Drew Carey was aired. Prior to that I watched 1/2 - 3 hours every weeknight. I don't envision ever tuning in again unless they actually show the DC episiodes from where they left off on the first cycle. I still can't get over how they could restart a series in the middle of the cycle. Punishing viewer loyalty generally doesn't increase ratings.

IMO, with their lineup and shows, they should be doing well near 1 million viewers daily - they should be doing more than that when MASH and Boston Legal join, considering how much they had to have paid for each show.

It's pretty sad when all they can manage is 400,000 viewers, if that, weekly. God, I haven't turned on ION for months, and I have no plans to. Come September, I'm hoping Drew Carey will still be part of the schedule (even though I know they've said they might make a few changes), because that will be my last chance for this network.

They went back down again. Don't they realize that something IS NOT WORKING in their lineup??

They weren't down much, they seem to be in the 400,000 range in recent weeks, give or take 20-30,000 viewers. No drastic losses or gains. The line-up will do better I think when Dead Zone is only Thursdays (if that still happens). They need to put Quantum Leap out of primetime.

Still Pavan, they should be doing so much more in primetime. I wouldn't be shocked if their 4pm-8pm lineup is doing better than their 8pm-11pm. Their primetime shows at this point are just so lame - they need better shows.

Exactly what I've been saying. The movies sway it. If it weren't for them they would probably pull around 350,000-370,000 each week, which is pathetic compared to 650,000+ last year with the older shows that they payed less for. Crazy!

What's worse is that they are half-assed trying to get new viewers through the Web. I see that "Who's your favorite doctor" ER promo/contest all over different websites. Although I really don't get the prize - new ER episodes don't air on Ion, but they are sending people to the set for episodes that will air on NBC.
