View Full Version : This is why the Biography Channel is better qualified for discussing actors and not
TVFactFan 06-03-2008, 02:19 PM that crappy station called E!, I watched the biography of scott baio and found out he was added to the show because richie was starting to get to old to be mentored by fonzie and felt that thye needed to add a younger kid to the show.
Also that Joanie Loves chachi was the HIGHEST RATED NEW SHOW In TV History
Now those are the kind of facts that us tv fans are supposed to hear about not where the actor or actress went to highschool-lol
Pavan 06-03-2008, 02:34 PM Did you see the closing credits for the Scott Baio Bio? Our own Todd Fuller and SitcomsOnline.com were credited.
TVFactFan 06-03-2008, 02:35 PM Did you see the closing credits for the Scott Baio Bio? Our own Todd Fuller and SitcomsOnline.com were credited.
No once they got to the Charles and Charge era I had no more interest, just the happy days eras and then I was done-lol
Ireneparalegal 06-03-2008, 02:51 PM If they wanted a younger person to mentor, they should have brought back Fonzie's nephew, Spike. Not bring in a new person like Chachi.

well garry marshall also said that Fonzie was getting older too and they wanted to bring in someone younger and cool like fonzie-lol
Ireneparalegal 06-03-2008, 02:55 PM Spike was just like Fonzie, remember? He dressed like him and talked like him. He was also NOT annoying. It would have been great to see Spike grow up and eventually change and mature.
spreckenzeedeu 06-03-2008, 03:07 PM It would have been great to see Spike grow up and eventually change and mature.
Yeah, Spike's TEENAGE YEARS would have been interested...
Ireneparalegal 06-03-2008, 03:34 PM Yeah, Spike's TEENAGE YEARS would have been interested...
Yes they would have. Certainly more interesting than seeing a kid with a 70's haircut and clothes and saying some stupid crap like "Wo wo wo"... or whatever the hell he said.

I totally agree with you. E! used to air a show called Celebrity Profile and they did an episode on Scott, but they didn't mention any important facts. I only watched 30 minutes of Scott's Bio but I did learn some things about him and HD. When Scott's reality show aired, a lot of people in other boards called him cheap because of the way he handled the wedding preparations, etc. Turns out that Scott's dad managed several businesses and he always told Scott to spend his money wisely and invest it. I don't see nothing wrong with him being frugal. From what I saw on his show, he lives very comfortably and doesn't seem like the kind of guy who has to drive flashy cars and wear really expensive clothing. JMO
Another fact I found interesting was that he said that if he could go back in time, he wouldn't have attempted a singing career.
88survivor 06-03-2008, 04:58 PM I thought it was kind of sad as to how his own dad died. Before the news of the baby......that sucks! :( You give life, someone takes a life that is very important to you since you were a baby. I definitely understand, Scott. A dad is the most important thing in the world.

Yoli, Yoli, Yoli, you never cease to amaze me with how much you post things that I agree with. ;)
I agree abt Scott being frugal. I don't get the hoopla over having to spend such an enormous amount of money for a wedding, considering you already have a child that was conceived PRIOR to the wedding. Save that money for that huge house that poor Scott needed to buy. I get the feeling Scott didn't want that gigantic mansion and only bought it for his wife to shut her the hell up. I feel sorry for Scott because I really got the feeling she allowed herself to get pregnant so that Scott would be forced to choose to be with her. I mean, it took her getting pregnant before he committed to her. What does that say?
88survivor 06-03-2008, 05:41 PM Does Scott still smoke? Judging from the cigar he had on the Biography.....I guess he does smoke still. Well, the only part you see do see Scott smoke a cigarette is in the movie I Love NY.

I don't think Scott smokes cigarettes...just cigars. I remember Renee (his wife) saying in one of the episodes of the second season that when she met Scott he only smoked 2 cigars a day. A lot of people who regularly smoke cigars don't smoke cigarettes because they think they're crap. I know this because my grandpa smokes cigars from time to time, but he has never smoked cigarettes.
I'm not a smoker and I'm not in favor of people picking up the habit or anything...but in a way I think cigars are..well..."safer". Since cigar smokers don't inhale the smoke they are in less risk of having lung diseases such as lung cancer, emphysema, etc...but still at risk of getting oral cancer.

Thanks Irene! I always enjoy reading your posts and I'm happy we agree on what's being discussed. :D
They could've bought a smaller house. I don't know how many rooms the house has...but I think that it is a bit big for 3 people (well 4 since Renee's older daughter was moving in with them). Still, I don't know if they will have more children, so they might have bought with that in mind.
Wreckless 06-03-2008, 09:21 PM No, Chachi was a million times better then Spike. I couldn't stand Spike at all. I liked Chachi alot. He had an outgoing personality on the show and even off the show, he fit right in with the characters. I don't care if he was an add-on during the end of the show/the last couple of seasons because Spike was just annoying. We don't need a replica of Fonzie. We needed somebody like Chachi and we got him.
pjsreal 06-03-2008, 11:52 PM From Garry Marshall-
"Well we were looking for…we were always looking for some more characters for Happy Days. The Happy Days family was building and building and we were looking for somebody to play Fonzie’s cousin. And there was a kid called Spike on the show for a while. And that was alright. Spike was alright as Fonzie had a kid cousin, but we wanted somebody from Fonzie’s family. So we were looking to…Spike was a very good actor and was busy. So we were looking for somebody we could put on as a regular. So that’s what we were looking for. And we were hoping that it was somebody who was Italian, looked a little like Fonzie"

I completely agree. I strongly disliked the Spike character.
Wreckless 06-04-2008, 12:59 AM I completely agree. I strongly disliked the Spike character.
Definitely, I agree; I really didn't take a liking to him at all. I couldn't really stand his voice either, you know he reminded me of the reject version of Calogero from A Bronx Tale if anybody's ever seen that movie. (excellent btw)
88survivor 06-04-2008, 08:57 AM Though we did see Scott and Felice with a cigarette as well in Zapped after the sex scene.
TVFactFan 06-04-2008, 11:53 AM HD just had too many additions
88survivor 06-04-2008, 02:46 PM Wa Wa Wa... Let's face it. Gary Marshall is a genius. He is a self-made millionaire/creator/ great comic actor who is still considered a very hard-working guy to this day. You still see him in movies. He is not in the poor house. That's for sure.
Wreckless 06-04-2008, 05:04 PM i'm about to go to Wa Wa Wa, forget the last Wa

Spike was Fonzie's NEPHEW. You mean to tell me Garry Marshall forgot that bit of info???? Oh Geez. Nephews are family. What the f***?
Give me Spike anyday over that over-hyped Chachi. Everytime that mug of his appeared, there was that damn applause.
Wreckless 06-04-2008, 06:47 PM Spike needed to roll around in the dirt and mudd some more
Ireneparalegal 06-04-2008, 06:50 PM Wa Wa Wa... Let's face it. Gary Marshall is a genius. He is a self-made millionaire/creator/ great comic actor who is still considered a very hard-working guy to this day. You still see him in movies. He is not in the poor house. That's for sure.
Genius, yeah. But he can't even remember that Spike was Fonzie's nephew, not his cousin. And this was Garry's show!
I don't think anyone commented on Garry anyways, I think the topic was Chachi as a character. I agree with Sol, too many damn characters. Better to have stuck with characters we already knew.
88survivor 06-04-2008, 06:59 PM But he did a lot of spin-offs as well. Even the not-so great spin-offs. He made money. He discovered people. Even Robin Williams. Ron Howard. You name it. He discovered them.
But you have to give it up to Scott's dad. That was a very traditional man, much like my father is. Very protective. Very serious. Very New Yorker. Had it not been for Rose Baio's working her husband on her son's career, Scott would have still been a Brooklyn boy for life.
YoliUSA 06-04-2008, 08:07 PM . Had it not been for Rose Baio's working her husband on her son's career, Scott would have still been a Brooklyn boy for life.
Not that there's anything wrong with that
Scott must be even more grateful for his father's advice now that he has a child and raising a child is pretty expensive these days. He has saved a lot of his money, plus he must receive a good chunk of change from the reality show and he still gets parts on made for TV movies, etc.
pjsreal 06-04-2008, 08:43 PM Spike was Fonzie's NEPHEW. You mean to tell me Garry Marshall forgot that bit of info???? Oh Geez. Nephews are family. What the f***?

Garry is getting up there in age and it was more of a brain fart or a slip than anything else. Plus it's been like...30 years. not to mention it always reads different than it sounds, he sorta corrected himself on tape.
anglemark10 06-05-2008, 12:00 AM Are you guys sure Spike wasn't Fonzie's cousin? I thought it was explained in Spike's first appearance that they were cousins, but Spike called Fonzie "Uncle." Maybe I'll check on that someday.
Wreckless 06-05-2008, 03:13 AM They weren't cousins I don't think. Cause Chachi was Fonz's cousin, Spike was his nephew...
88survivor 06-05-2008, 08:45 AM Interesting, Scott is getting grey hair like me. I could see the spots of white and grey intermingled already. Damn, he has my haircut and my premature grey hair syndrome. Never thought I see a salt/pepper Chachi. We were so use to the dark brown hair Chachi.
anglemark10 06-05-2008, 10:56 AM From "Bringing Up Spike":
Howard: I merely suggested that you should have someone to play the role of a father for him.
Fonzie: Oh, hey, that's not me, man. I'm just his cousin, huh?
Howard: Cousin? Well, how come he calls you "Uncle Fonzie?"
Fonzie: Hey, why not? He's little, I'm big. You know. I mean, you didn't really think I was his uncle, did you?
Howard: Well, I just assumed that, uh...
Fonzie: Nah. Come on. How could I be his uncle? I'm an only child. Let me tell you something, Mr. C., when they made the Fonz, they broke the mold. Whoa!

E! is all about sensationalism not facts. Joanie Loves Chachi was a lousy show and Charles in Charge wasn't much better.
88survivor 06-05-2008, 12:58 PM I actually liked Charles In Charge.
Wreckless 06-05-2008, 06:52 PM We were all wrong about Spike and Fonzie's relationship hahah...

That was written obviously AFTER the Fonzie character became the star of the show. When Spike appeared, Fonzie was not the star, Richie was. It was easy to say Fonzie had a nephew (Spike) simply because we did not know the Fonzie character well enough. Only later was Fonzie mentioned to be an only child, hence, the writers realized they had stated prior the fact that Fonzie was Spike's uncle. A little back-peddaling if you ask me.
