I like that drug store. *ClassicPinUp* 06-02-2008, 10:22 PM Walgreens. OH Nuts! 06-02-2008, 10:39 PM Actually, to be honest none of them rock my world. When I need toiletries etc. I head to Target more often than not AND NEVER EVER EVER Duane Reade. Janice 06-02-2008, 11:02 PM CVS all the way. They handle our prescriptions with care. The pharmacy staff, as well as the front-end staff, are efficient and courteous. I love CVS's Extra Care Rewards Program. I rack up 100s of $$ in Extra Bucks. With the Sunday circular, and some careful planning - with their BOGOs, my coupons, my Extra Bucks - it's not at all unusual for me to get $80 worth of merchandise, and spent maybe $20. It takes some strategy and planning, but it's fun and sort of a hobby of mine. BarneyFife 06-02-2008, 11:02 PM All Drug Stores are expensive but I guess if I had to choose one, It would be Walgreens. Zoneboy 06-02-2008, 11:15 PM No question, CVS beats the other 2 hands down simply for the reasons Janice gave. I wouldn't dare have my meds filled by Walgreens. they've come under fire for allowing High School students to fill prescriptions and one such incident led to a woman having a massive stroke because she was given a high dosage by mistake. 20/20 did a segment on this a year or 2 ago. Zoneboy 06-02-2008, 11:35 PM Eckerds was bought out by Rite Aid, We had 2 Rite Aid's here and they closed several years ago but came back when they replaced Eckerds. PunkyP0WER 06-02-2008, 11:37 PM walgreens has the best prices all around and a better selection. also their stores are bigger. i tend to find cvs stores cramped and the layouts confusing. and cvs charges such high prices and you have to have a discount card to get any of their deals. i'm not a fan of discount cards, i hate the hassle and with id theft these days i'm not going to fill out a form with all this personal info. just to save 50 cents on toilet paper. cvs is always a last resort for me. i don't need any prescriptions luckily but if i did i'd probably go to walmart now that they have that $4 dollar plan and i usually buy their over the counter medicines because they're cheaper than all the pharmacies put together. What a shame, Charles. ohno: I always double check my medications, for both dosage and for actual content. Drugs.com is a handy reference guide to see pictures of medications. It states drug interactions, although CVS has pointed out potential issues. Another thing I like about CVS is that they're not judgemental. Three years ago, my husband had to take narcotics for his back, before his spinal fusion surgery. At first, he had the prescriptions filled at Walgreens, but he said that he got a weird vibe off some of their staff. At CVS, there were no such issues. We actually get most of our prescriptions at Express-Scripts. It's great, having a 3-month supply of meds delivered right to our front door. PunkyP0WER 06-02-2008, 11:52 PM you're right about the highschoolers zoneboy. i worked at walgreens for a bit and the pharmacy techs were mostly high schoolers. actually the assistant manager (3rd shift) was a heroin addict and had served a few years of his sentence for armed robbery before being paroled and then hired by walgreens. old habits die hard i guess cause after 2 years of being assistant manager he was arrested again for selling drugs, he got out on bail and still held his position at the store. they fired him only after discovering that he let his dealer rob the place blind (merchandise wise) when he couldn't afford to pay him. All I filled out for CVS was my name, address and phone number. It's tiny card on my keyring. You are definitely not familiar with CVS's Extra Bucks Program. It's not 50 cents on toilet paper. I make an absolute killing on health and beauty products, everything in the store actually. They e:mailed me my quarterly coupon a couple of weeks ago, for $28 dollars. I don't care what they charge for prescriptions because I only pay a dollar no matter where I go. Just one of the benefits of living in the grand old state of Massachusetts. Free health care. I love it. PunkyP0WER 06-02-2008, 11:59 PM janice its true about the weird vibe. the pharmacist at our walgreens practically interrogated customers that came in with prescriptions for painkillers. he'd always make comments to them and treat them kind of rude and then call them addicts when they left. this one woman, a new mother came in to fill an rx for her babys ear infection. after it was filled she shopped around and came to my register with other items. she placed her rx on thecounter as i was ringing her up and accidently left it behind. i didn't see it either because it was in a blind spot and another customer ended up stealing it probably thinking it was "good" stuff. anyway the mother came back in frantic looking for it and the pharmacist did not believe her. only after reviewing the surveillance tape did he relent but he was so mean to her initially. Yeah, some pharmacists take it way too far. I can understand the predicament they're in, given the robberies for Oxycontin, etc. Still, as your story illustrates, they often go too far, and target the wrong people. It's unfair. PunkyP0WER 06-03-2008, 12:06 AM i guess i've had bad experiences with discount cards. at big y i filled out their applicaton for a card and was told my soc. sec. number was already in use for someone elses card, telling me i was stealing my own id! lets just say it turned me off to the idea. Zoneboy 06-03-2008, 12:08 AM janice its true about the weird vibe. the pharmacist at our walgreens practically interrogated customers that came in with prescriptions for painkillers. Pharmacists are trained and paid to fill prescriptions not to interrogate the person for whom the meds are for. If anyone at Walgreen's has an issue with a legally obtained Dr's prescription they should take it up with the Dr. not the person it was prescribed for. That's no good, at all. I don't give out my SS#. I don't know if they still do it, but ToyRUs used to ask for customer's phone number. I always politely declined. I haven't seen those stores around lately, and now I'm wondering if they've gone belly up. PunkyP0WER 06-03-2008, 02:07 AM we have a few of them here in ct. i never see pizza huts anymore. i see the ads on tv but i can't find one thats anywhere near me! makes me so mad cause i so want to try their pasta. anyway my husband also had a bad experience with id theft. when his late wife was going for cancer treatments this nurse stole her soc. sec. no. and other personal info and tried to open all kinds of accounts. a cell phone account was one of the first she tried to open and it ended up appearing on some credit report and the scam was nipped in the bud quickly, luckily before it got any further. JT 06-03-2008, 11:17 AM My favorite drug store is the crack house on the corner. KIDDING. You know somebody had to say it. BarneyFife 06-03-2008, 11:23 AM My favorite drug store is the crack house on the corner. KIDDING. You know somebody had to say it. Me too! Just kidding also.  Number 9 Dream 06-03-2008, 12:31 PM CVS :) AB 06-03-2008, 04:33 PM Walgreens, they send me discount coupons through email that I like to use. dlemond 06-03-2008, 05:02 PM My favorite drug store is a local NJ chain known as "Drug Fair." They are affliated with "Cost Cutters" which used to have a location in my home town and was previously my favorite- I rarely ever see one now. Our Cost Cutters was about 2x the size of Drug Fair (which is itself about the size of 1 1/2 CVS). Of those others mentioned, I would definitely go with CVS. 80sTrivia 06-03-2008, 05:08 PM I voted for Walgreens, although I really loved Drug Emporium, but I think they all closed, unfortuntely... The Great One 06-03-2008, 05:59 PM I like Walgreens the best. YoliUSA 06-03-2008, 06:56 PM Walgreens. I've never had any problems with prescriptions there. Besides, I also love their candy selection. I always end up buying $4-5 in candy everytime I go there. EmoJoe 06-03-2008, 07:15 PM WALGREENS all the way. when i was little i used to go there all the time with my mom  it was like my second home. lol. you forgot Drug Fair. unless thats a local thing... dawsongirl 06-03-2008, 08:54 PM Actually, to be honest none of them rock my world. When I need toiletries etc. I head to Target So do I. I buy nothing at a Drug Store (Walgreens is pretty much the only one around here...they ran everything else out of town) unless they have some really good coupons in the Sunday paper. Walgreens is too expensive otherwise. TheHappyBurgerMeister 06-03-2008, 08:55 PM I like Walgreens the best. Their regular prices are expensive, but I love the rebates they have every month! CVS stores only recently in the past 2 years have come here (haven't been to one yet) and so far we don't have any Rite Aids. I agree with someone who said if they want toiletries they go to Target. Target is always the best! TheHappyBurgerMeister 06-03-2008, 08:58 PM I voted for Walgreens, although I really loved Drug Emporium, but I think they all closed, unfortuntely... I remember Drug Emporium! We had at least 2 here and they closed a few years ago. They had good stuff. The stores were pretty big for a drug store. Bigger than a walgreens but smaller than a target or wal-mart. DLevine2 06-03-2008, 09:10 PM I remember Drug Emporium! We had at least 2 here and they closed a few years ago. They had good stuff. The stores were pretty big for a drug store. Bigger than a walgreens but smaller than a target or wal-mart. I remember Drug Emporium too. Also, I remember Revco which CVS bought out all of the Revco's. We used to go to Eckerd along time ago before Rite Aid bought out Eckerd. InspectorExstead 06-03-2008, 11:30 PM i usually don't do much shopping at drug stores, but out of those three i would have to go with rite aid. i don't go in there very often, but when it's summer time, i love to get their $1 ice cream scoops. lol. Dr. Jazz 06-04-2008, 01:29 AM I voted for Walgreens, although I really loved Drug Emporium, but I think they all closed, unfortuntely... Drug Emporiums are still around -where I live, there are three of them within 10 minutes of each other and that's where I usually go, although we do have Rite Aids, CVS's and Walgreens close by as well. I just prefer DE over them and the DE's here are pretty big. Of course when I lived in NYC, Duane Reade was the drug store of choice. comedyfreak 06-04-2008, 04:15 AM Wal-Green's PunkyP0WER 06-04-2008, 10:03 AM just a little fyi, did you know you can use your jcpenney card at cvs? my sister told me that the other day. The Great One 06-04-2008, 05:22 PM just a little fyi, did you know you can use your jcpenney card at cvs? my sister told me that the other day. Very interesting. Stormtracker TF 06-04-2008, 11:45 PM I like CVS but I think Walgreens might be my favorite. *CHAD* 06-08-2008, 02:18 PM Rite Aid atomicfizz 06-09-2008, 04:14 AM I voted for CVS only because they have really good makeup brushes there, and they sell a few cosmetics I haven't been able to find at Walgreens. In all honesty I go to Walgreens 10 times to 1 vs. CVS. They all have their good points. I actually really miss Long's in Los Angeles. That was my favorite drug store. Hollow 06-09-2008, 05:27 AM never been to CVS or rite aid. i've only been to walgreens once to pick up an emergency contraceptive for an underage whore, so i don't really know much about it. from what i noticed, it seems like i can get the same stuff there at wal*mart, which is closer. moeee 06-11-2008, 03:44 AM Walgreens MrCleveland 06-12-2008, 03:50 PM Walgreens. But the Drug Store I like the most is where I had my first job, Discount Drug Mart. The people who still work there still know me.:) catlover79 06-12-2008, 07:44 PM Walgreens, although I also shop at Rite Aid often. CarJackSnyder 06-13-2008, 09:11 AM Walgreens Dude111 04-16-2025, 04:38 AM CVS all the way. They handle our prescriptions with care. Yes I would say Mine is CVS also......... More times than not I have found what im looking for at CVS.. Hawkee 04-18-2025, 05:18 AM When we would go shopping our drug store of choice was Rite Aid and I always liked going to Rite Aid with Dad and we would always look at their magazine section which also had loads of paperback books and a huge comic book section and when my mom would be shopping in the aisle next door Dad and I would be reading books there and Rite Aid had any book you could imagine but their comic book section was cool and they had DC Comics Marvel Comics and some comics never heard of before. When I would go to Rite Aid I always would read Buffy The Vampire Slayer comics and Angel comics and Rite Aid is also where I discovered Harry Potter books and read an entire chapter of a Harry Potter book there |
