View Full Version : BEWARE!! (PLEASE READ)
PlayOn 05-31-2008, 12:43 PM From an e-mail I heard about and a text message I got:
Sate Police Warning (SERIOUS!)
DON'T FLASH HEADLIGHTS AT ANY CAR WITH NO LIGHTS ON!!!
Police officers working with the DARE program have issued this Warning: If you are driving after dark and see an on-coming car, DO NOT FLASH YOUR HEADLIGHTS AT THEM!! This is a common Bloods member 'initiation game' that goes like this: The new gang member under initiation drives along with no headlights, and the first car to flash their headlights at them is now his 'target.'
He is now required to turn around and chase that car, then shoot and kill every individual in the vehicle in order to complete his initiation requirements. Police Depts. across the nation are being warned.
Their intent is to have all the new Bloods nationwide drive around on Friday and Saturday nights with their headlights off. In order to be accepted into the gang, they have to shoot and kill all individuals in the first auto to give them a courtesy flash to warn them their head lights are off.
Make sure you share this information with all the drivers in your family! Please forward this message to all your friends and family members to inform them about this initiation ritual.

Good Lord, it's not even safe to leave your house anymore or be nice to people. ohno:
catlover79 05-31-2008, 12:46 PM I've never flashed my headlights after dark at anyone, and certainly won't now. Thanks for sharing this, Brandon.

Oh... This is false, by the way. I smelled bull**** as soon as I saw this.
PlayOn 05-31-2008, 02:04 PM ^^^ this is false? i'm sorry. i didn't know. again, i got sent a text about this and heard about it in an e-mail. with two warnings, how can you just ignore it? thanks, Allison. :) some people need to find better things to do with their lives than send out false emails. esp. as scary as this one.
theshark8777 05-31-2008, 02:25 PM Yeah that's been going around for years.

It's ok. :) Just be sure to consult Snopes if you get something like this. They're the best hoax squashers out there. Oh, and tell everybody else you know to make Snopes their friend, as well.
It also does help that I live nowhere near a huge city and that there are no gangs around here. Only thing I really have to worry about around here is getting hit by a drunk driver (state with highest rate of binge drinking in the nation FTL). Heh.

You still in ND... I guess there really is nothing to do there

PZelda 05-31-2008, 03:45 PM lol, i got a friend who lives in Minot.
Haha, I'm only about 1 1/2 hours from there. Pretty cool. :D
James 05-31-2008, 05:21 PM Yeah. But that [North Dakota]'s just fine by me. At least I know I'm safe here.
Wow, Allison, I thought you moved to the Twin Cities! What made you move back? Not to worry; I'm more of a North Dakota guy myself!

Yeah, I was living outside the TC area for a while... 2 1/2 months (1 August 2007 - 22 October 2007). I was really freaking unhappy there. Wrong time, wrong place, as they say... so I came back home.
Brieannas21 06-02-2008, 01:18 PM I've heard and read sooooo many variations of this email I have a feeling that it's not true. There’s one where someone hits your car at a stop sign or red light and then they'll get out and shoot you. It's the flashing lights one. It's one about there something wrong with another drives car in the lane next to yours, and if you try to get their attention tell them that there’s something wrong with their car, then they will shoot you. There's so many of these things, so don't believe any of these any more.
Janice 06-02-2008, 02:02 PM Snopes isn't always your friend. Research bias and Snopes and you're in for an eyeopener. I'm glad that some people are finally realizing that Snopes isn't the Bible, but a site run by a couple in California.
catlover79 06-02-2008, 03:51 PM I still won't flash my lights - just in case.

That's for sure! I posted on another thread about the bias of Snopes. Best for people to do their own research than rely on that site.
*ClassicPinUp* 06-02-2008, 09:16 PM Um, SNOPES is WRONG! This is infact true as it happened a little over a year ago. It wasn't happening like crazy but the point is...it did happen!
I'm not sure why Snopes has the reputation of being a "know all" website because it's far from it.
Brieannas21 06-02-2008, 09:18 PM I don't remember hearing about this on my local news channels or CNN, MSNBC, FoxNews. Someone need to jog my memory
theshark8777 06-02-2008, 09:19 PM Well that email has been circulating for way more than 1 year. True or not.

I agree. Snopes is a useful tool for separating the truth from the urban legends; however, when they start making judgement calls, particulary concerning politics, take Snopes with a grain of salt. Same as all of the other ones. I had Snope's number a couple of years ago, after reading a couple of expose pieces on them. I'm glad that, little by little, Snopes is losing their reputation as being the last word on everything. They are certainly not. Their credibility isn't destroyed, but it's viewed with more caution now, as it should be. Nobody or no entity should have that kind of power, as in, Snopes says it, so it MUST be true. No way. I'm glad people started questioning them. I used to wonder, "Who's snoping out Snopes?" Like the fox guarding the henhouse, lol.
