STOCKHOLM, Sweden - The Kiss Army fan club has an enthusiastic new recruit: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Rice was in the Swedish capital Thursday for an international conference on Iraq. Kiss had a sold-out concert to play Friday.

"I was thrilled," Rice said of her late-night encounter with Kiss frontman Gene Simmons and bandmates Paul Stanley, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer in the executive lounge of the Sheraton Hotel where they signed autographs and handed out backstage passes and T-shirts to her staff.

"It was really fun to meet Kiss and Gene Simmons," she told reporters, noting that they seemed well-informed about current events. The band had asked if she could stop by after she finished dinner with the Swedish foreign minister and Rice readily agreed, she said.

Rice, a classically trained pianist, said she has eclectic musical tastes ranging from Beethoven to Bruce Springsteen.

Hard rockers such as Kiss are included in the mix, and Rice said her favorite Kiss tune is "Rock and Roll All Nite."

But, Rice conceded, she has never seen the band in concert.

That's probably the only song she knows by them but when you consider that it's the most played to death song in their library, What more can you expect?

I doubt that. They've had lots of hits. If Condi says she's a fan, I believe her.

I know, I was being sarcastic. Kiss has had plenty of his but very seldom do you ever hear anything on the radio other than Rock and Roll All Nite at least that's the way it is around here.

Same here. Condi strikes me as different type person. She looks so prim and proper when playing classical piano at concerts. She's obsessed with football, to the point that she's expressed interest in becoming the Commissioner, although she was probably joking. She's a doctor, Secretary of State. Lots of stuff going on with her, and now she's a big Kiss fan, lol.

Rock And Roll All Nite is very popular among KISS fans, but I Was Made For Loving You and Beth charted best. That said, KISS is now a pathetic pseudo-tribute band.

It would be interesting that KISS would visit D.C.

It would be interesting that KISS would visit D.C.Why would that be interesting? I've read they've played there before. Is D.C. not a rock and roll town? Condi met them in Sweden.

It's not a surprise. I saw KISS in the 70's, early 80's and last time, when they had a full fledged Reunion some years back. I read some of Gene Simmons views, and he is supporter of the War on Terror. BTW, I think one of their best songs was Black Daimond, especially the lead by Ace Frehley.
