View Full Version : Even seen the Biography channel "Scott Baio" 88survivor 05-30-2008, 08:54 AM Anyone seen it at all? catlover79 05-30-2008, 12:28 PM Nope, never have. 88survivor 05-30-2008, 03:32 PM I did. Ironically, both Baio's late father and my father are very similar to one another. Protective, "I'm The Boss", tightly nit family man, very traditional etc. It was sad that Baio's dad died before the news of their child on March 31st, 2007. It sucks to have health problems. Mario seem like a very likeable guy, judging from the photos as a dad, manager, etc. I loved the photos they showed with Mario with the children, Baio as a little baby. Ironically, Mario did managed both a used car shop and a bowling alley before becoming Scott's manager. Baio's dad almost didn't accept Scott Baio's mom's decision on pursuing his acting dream. So she kept working Mario Baio to accept his son's dream. It was all up to the decision of the principle and that was that. Had it not happen, according to one relative, they would be still living in Brooklyn and running a business like Mario. As to how Scott Baio reacted to his father's death, he collapsed when he heard the news on the floor and felt empty that now his own father is not with him anymore. It's only been a year since his father died. In his eyes, you could tell how much Scott loved his father. He was the manager, his father.....they were very close. Sucks that his own father won't live to see a grandchild at this moment. Wreckless 06-02-2008, 05:45 PM No but I've seen, Scott Baio's 45 and single/45 and married" and it reveals alot of him through the 2 shows. About how he dated alot of the playmates in Playboy from the 80s and wasn't allowed in the mansion for quite some time. thebabymysweet 02-24-2011, 02:00 AM FICTIONAL PORTRAYALS OF SCOTT BAIO ??? 1. Scott Baio's legendary portrayal of Chachi Arcola was once humorously paid comic tribute in a satiric yet affectionate manner by another long-running family sitcom "The Nanny" starring Fran Drescher. In their episode "When You Pish Upon A Star", young guest actor J.D. Daniels played a typically spoiled but ultimately showbiz savvy famous child star named Jack Walker. His character ("Kippy") appeared in a fictional hit TV show ("Royal Flush"), wore a leather jacket, and even had a popular catchphrase ("Hey! Yo! Woh!"), all of this very reminiscent of a cute little tough guy named Chachi on "Happy Days". Is Jack Walker a thinly-veiled portrayal of Scott Baio during his early years? One cannot help but wonder a little bit. 2. In the small independent movie "Attention Shoppers", Nestor Carbonell (who also penned the screenplay) plays Enrique Suarez, a young Cuban actor on a hit sitcom who's scheduled to make a personal appearance at the grand opening of a Houston Super K-mart. On the plane ride to his destination, our hero gets acquainted with Mark Pinnaforte (portrayed by a charismatic Luke Perry), another television star who turns out to be a more seasoned and shrewd veteran of the celebrity autograph signing tours at various malls and supermarkets. Persistent rumors within the entertainment industry claim that fictional daytime soap opera idol Mark Pinnaforte is actually primetime sitcom icon Scott Baio in very clever disguise. Luke Perry's excellent scene-stealing performance is highly reminiscent of James LeGros as "Chad", a memorably hilarious spoofing of superstar Brad Pitt, from the independent film "Living In Oblivion" starring Steve Buscemi and directed by Tom DiCillo. thebabymysweet 09-20-2011, 09:31 PM SCOTT BAIO IS 45 AND SINGLE / 46 AND PREGNANT "What worked so well for Scott Baio in those long ago sitcoms works equally well in the new millenium of reality television. His endearing charm and devil-may-care sensibility permeates the whole show. And it makes for an entertaining half-hour of mostly lighthearted semi-self-awakening. The show is well-executed and the star is compelling." (Andrew Lyons, Media Life) "It is an entertaining and emotional half-hour built around the one-time Hollywood hunk's quest to find out why he's still single. While it is fun to watch him struggle, in the end the show creates a sympathetic portrait of a star who has avoided the usual pitfalls of celebrity on the road to bachelorhood. And for a celebrity reality show, that is unusual. And why this is worth your time." (Richard Huff, The New York Daily News) HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SCOTT ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2011 !! thebabymysweet 01-30-2012, 09:40 PM SCOTT BAIO IS 45 AND SINGLE / 46 AND PREGNANT "It is a charming often funny show, much more restrained and tasteful than the typical VH1 reality series. The idea sounds a bit cheesy but thanks to Scott Baio's charm, it is actually an entertaining and sometimes sweet show. Besides the entertainment value, it is also a reminder that Baio is a talented guy who deserves better roles than he's gotten in recent years." (Rick Ellis, All Your TV) "It's nice to turn on a celebreality show and see someone who, while obviously scarred in some way, is emotionally stable and articulate enough to handle the journey that's before him. No matter what happens to Scott Baio - who's hired life coach Doc Ali to help him find out why he's never been able to commit to a woman, including his basically perfect current girlfriend Renee (whom he's not allowed to see for 8 weeks) - you feel confident it won't break him. Translation: this isn't a guilty pleasure; it's just a pleasure." (Mandi Bierly, Popwatch-Entertainment Weekly) thebabymysweet 05-16-2012, 10:17 PM SCOTT BAIO IS 45 AND SINGLE / 46 AND PREGNANT "The emotional journey that unfolds is both entertaining and engaging, but not necessarily for the reasons you might expect. Scott Baio is immediately likeable and you want him to succeed. But it's not because you adored him as Chachi or Charles - it's because he's humbly putting it all on the line as Scott Baio, the person. The refreshing thing is that, unlike a lot of other reality fare, this show doesn't have to rely on exploitation or extremes. And that's what makes it such a pleasure to watch. It's been a long time since Scott Baio has starred in his own series but playing himself is his best role yet." (Kari Croop, Common Sense Media Review) "'Scott Baio Is 45 And Single' delivers entertainment on several levels, the most obvious being, well, Scott Baio is 45. And single. And he's willing to document that fact in excruciating detail on national television. But this little pop culture gem doesn't stop at the tip of the entertaining iceberg. Baio wisely goes with a voice-over of his thoughts while all this is going on. He apologizes for bad behavior, listens to good advice, and does it all with a great sense of comic timing and amusement. And to top this all off, the production is clever and occasionally pretty touching. So whether you're watching to see the trainwreck that has become Erin Moran or because you appreciate the Emmy-worthy editing and throwback soundtrack, the point is you should be watching it." (Lazlo's Basement, Entertainment Nutz) thebabymysweet 01-16-2013, 10:01 PM SCOTT BAIO IS 45 AND SINGLE / 46 AND PREGNANT "Scott Baio explores his commitment issues in a reality show that plays out like a romantic comedy. Rather than simply watching him boss around a slew of assistants (think Paula Abdul and Kathy Griffin), the show explores a deeper issue as Baio tries to find out why he's never married any of the women he's dated, including Playboy playmates, models and celebrities. The concept of this new show is genius." (Lori Geller, TV Diva) "Scott Baio has a hit on his hands with his maiden reality voyage. The biggest surprise is how intriguing Baio is on the show, no matter how manufactured the character may ultimately be. He is narcissistic and uncaring at times, plus a bit short-fused, losing his patience quickly.Yet, he's also bright, smart, funny and brings a New York cynicism to the show which makes him compelling. Viewers may walk away with a different impression of the actor but that's precisely the point." (Christian Toto, The Washington Times) thebabymysweet 05-19-2013, 09:57 PM SCOTT BAIO IS 45 AND SINGLE / 46 AND PREGNANT "This surprisingly entertaining show gives us a glimpse into the life of Scott Baio. If you're not a fan of Baio already, you will be after watching one of the newest installments to VH1's celebreality family." (Jessie Smith, Associated Content TV Review) "The VH1 network series 'Scott Baio Is 45 And Single' certainly deserves a place in the annals of very good reality television." (Ginia Bellafante, The New York Times) thebabymysweet 09-22-2014, 10:31 PM SCOTT BAIO IS 45 AND SINGLE / 46 AND PREGNANT "The redeeming thing here is Scott Baio himself. Still quite handsome and charming (and residually rich!), he comes across as a terrific guy. It's no wonder he got so many hot women. Who can resist a nice bad boy with a big cigar?" (Linda Stasi, The New York Post) "The drama on 'Scott Baio Is 45 And Single' comes off as totally genuine, probably because Scott is so endearing. And if the situations are set up, you get the feeling that he is not always in on the joke. Often when celebrities do these kind of shows, it comes off as a sad attempt at a last grasp at fame. But for Baio, it comes off as a funny charming show that could very well restart his career - or at least get him married."
