I know that I couldn't believe what a "fox" Jan turned into for season 5.

I remember watching season 5 during its run, and I remember thinking that not only did Jan turn into this incredible babe, but I also thought that something was different about Marcia, and I actually thought that Marcia did not look as good as she did in season 4...

I think that the combination of the really blond hair, the deep, deep tan and the really dark eyebrows was not really that great of a look for Marcia... I thought she was much prettier in season 4.

But yeah, today Marcia would fit right in, wouldn't even be noticed. But back then, she did stick out like a sore thumb...

I hadn't thought of this angle before, but Eve and Maureen were very good friends in real life. Which probably means that Maureen could see what Eve was turning into that summer.

I wonder if Maureen's dramatic change might have been a result of trying to "keep up" with Eve. I'm sure Maureen had always been the most popular female member of the cast, and had always been seen as the prettier one up to that time (although I think that in the first couple of seasons, Jan was totally adorable).

I don't know where Maureen would have gotten the idea that what she did was an improvement.... but I can't think of anything else that would explain her undergoing such a dramatic change.

Of course, maybe I'm reading too much into what happened...maybe Maureen just wanted a different look... but heck, part of the fun of being a Brady Bunch fan is taking what we know about the characters, plus what relatively little we know about the actors, and coming up with wacky theories like this one to "explain" what happened and why. :lol:

My fave movie of Linda Blair's was actually BORN INNOCENT. That movie also caused an uproar when it showed a scene of her being raped by her fellow inmates at a juvenile detention center. I recall a copy cat crime that occurred here in our city to a girl by a bunch of other girls. The movie was blamed for that crime and ever since then, that scene was edited out of any future runs. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen that movie IN YEARS. I guess if it was shown now, it would not raise an eyebrow.

Plus the sequel "Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn". It appeared for awhile that all of the Brady kids, Eve's career seem to have the most momentum. Then for some reason, it just stopped. I recently rewatched the 1977/1978 miniseries version of "Little Women", where she played Beth (and wish the series was out on DVD, where she played a look-a-like cousin).

Yeah it seems that at that period of time, if you were anyone, you'd appear on both those shows. And if you were a nobody, you made DAMN SURE YOU APPEARED ON BOTH THOSE SHOWS. Look at Charo, it got her a lifetime contract performing in Las Vegas. ;)

Loved Even in the Dawn movies and on the shows she guest starred in. Loved her on Facts of Life, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Wonder Woman.

When I saw Season 5, I also thought that they recasted Jan Brady until I saw the names at the end.

I don't the light blonde and deep tan look myself. That's one of the reasons why I preferred Bailey to Jennifer on WKRP in Cincinatti. Not just because she's what TVTropes.org call a "Meganakko" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Meganekko)(cute girl with glasses) Loni Anderson looked just weird to me with platinum blonde hair and deep tan. Then I saw her on a Bob Newhart Show episode she did earlier when she had dark hair and I thought that explains it. Obviously that wasn't her real hair color but as a kid I didn't figure that out!:lol:

In Marcia's case, I don't think it was as severe as that, but I think Jan just looked and dressed better that last season. As hot as Maureen was, she shared her look with Susan Dey and Peggy Lipton, and they were all following The Mamas and the Papas' Michelle Phillips. Eve Plumb circa 1974 is the epitome of mid-Seventies beauty. The era that was post-hippie and pre-disco, Gerald Ford was President and everybody was gearing up for the Bicentennial. A more natural look before Farrah and her feathered locks hit the scene.
