In season 6 she seemed so tanned. On top of that, her eyebrows were pretty dark and her hair was lightened so much.

View Full Version : Was Marcia way ahead of her time? Ireneparalegal 05-28-2008, 01:34 AM In season 6 she seemed so tanned. On top of that, her eyebrows were pretty dark and her hair was lightened so much.  Jude The Obscure 05-28-2008, 01:39 AM Season six? :D You mean, Season Five :) Anyways, Jan had uh,....."outgrown" Marcia by then and when I was little, I swore Jan was now being played by a new actress! Ireneparalegal 05-28-2008, 05:42 PM Duh! thank you for clarifying that. You know last night we were dealing with something that was a pain. LOL at your comment abt Jan. Had she changed that much in your eyes? I was so shocked at Marcia's appearance myself. I was like, "Wow she looks darker and her hair is so much lighter." That Marcia could easily fit in nowadays with all that fake orange tan going on and the highlighting of hair. Jude The Obscure 05-28-2008, 07:48 PM The girls were often going braless by the 5th season, so like, uhm, yea :groucho Tweety 05-28-2008, 07:48 PM ...LOL at your comment abt Jan. I remember watching season 5 during its run, and I remember thinking that not only did Jan turn into this incredible babe, but I also thought that something was different about Marcia, and I actually thought that Marcia did not look as good as she did in season 4... I think that the combination of the really blond hair, the deep, deep tan and the really dark eyebrows was not really that great of a look for Marcia... I thought she was much prettier in season 4. But yeah, today Marcia would fit right in, wouldn't even be noticed. But back then, she did stick out like a sore thumb... Don't get me wrong, she was definitely pretty enough to pull it off, I just thought it was not a natural look for her at all, and I always considered Marcia to be a natural beauty. Jude...:brent you would notice the girls not wearing bras. Tweety you said it. Jan had turned into such a beauty. Goes to show you can't judge how someone appears as a young child. ;) Marcia did stick out like a sore thumb. I remember watching the new season and wondering what had happened to Marcia's looks. She wasn't ugly but the change was so dramatic it made it so obvious something was different and she was not at all natural like before. Tweety 05-29-2008, 05:32 AM I hadn't thought of this angle before, but Eve and Maureen were very good friends in real life. Which probably means that Maureen could see what Eve was turning into that summer. I wonder if Maureen's dramatic change might have been a result of trying to "keep up" with Eve. I'm sure Maureen had always been the most popular female member of the cast, and had always been seen as the prettier one up to that time (although I think that in the first couple of seasons, Jan was totally adorable). I don't know where Maureen would have gotten the idea that what she did was an improvement.... but I can't think of anything else that would explain her undergoing such a dramatic change. Of course, maybe I'm reading too much into what happened...maybe Maureen just wanted a different look... but heck, part of the fun of being a Brady Bunch fan is taking what we know about the characters, plus what relatively little we know about the actors, and coming up with wacky theories like this one to "explain" what happened and why. Jude The Obscure 05-29-2008, 02:28 PM Actually, Irene, it was Maureen and Eve themselves who admitted to trying to get by braless as much as possible.......so after finding that out..I had to check out their stories  And as Eve got older, it was harder for her to get away with it  catlover79 05-29-2008, 03:59 PM One thing I find very ironic is that Eve ended up playing a nun several years later in Irwin Allen's The Night the Bridge Fell Down! Of course, she cussed in that film, too. Ireneparalegal 05-29-2008, 04:02 PM Eve also appeared in FACTS OF LIFE as Blair's sister who was going to become...A NUN! I remember her movie on ABC about being a teen hooker. I think it was Dawn: Portrait of a teenage runaway. Something like that. catlover79 05-29-2008, 04:04 PM She was either a nun or a hooker - no middle ground!!!  Ireneparalegal 05-29-2008, 04:07 PM She was either a nun or a hooker - no middle ground!!!  :brent tdr 05-29-2008, 05:36 PM ALL or NUN? I think it was Dawn: Portrait of a teenage runaway. Something like that. Yup, that's the one...Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway (1976)... and of course, she became a hooker. The ratings for the TV-Movie were probably the highest of the year among my classmates... we ALL watched it! The year before, Linda Blair made a movie called "Sarah T: Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic". The ratings for the TV-Movie were probably the highest of the year among my classmates... we ALL watched it! The year before, Linda Blair made a movie called "Sarah T: Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic". I remember all the hullabaloo over Eve's movie. Remember this was the 70's so movies like that, even though it is tame compared to what is shown now, back then it was such an eye-opener. It also starred Leigh McCloskey who later appeared on DALLAS. My fave movie of Linda Blair's was actually BORN INNOCENT. That movie also caused an uproar when it showed a scene of her being raped by her fellow inmates at a juvenile detention center. I recall a copy cat crime that occurred here in our city to a girl by a bunch of other girls. The movie was blamed for that crime and ever since then, that scene was edited out of any future runs. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen that movie IN YEARS. I guess if it was shown now, it would not raise an eyebrow. catlover79 05-29-2008, 06:04 PM Yup, that's the one...Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway (1976)... and of course, she became a hooker. Ireneparalegal 05-29-2008, 06:10 PM Wasn't there a "Dawn" sequel as well? Yes there was. I can't recall the name. Jude The Obscure 05-29-2008, 07:24 PM Plus the sequel "Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn". It appeared for awhile that all of the Brady kids, Eve's career seem to have the most momentum. Then for some reason, it just stopped. I recently rewatched the 1977/1978 miniseries version of "Little Women", where she played Beth (and wish the series was out on DVD, where she played a look-a-like cousin). Ireneparalegal 05-29-2008, 07:28 PM Here is Maureen's info, remember it is IMDB, take the info with a grain of salt: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0566572/ I always remember her on the LOVE BOAT. She had that short hairstyle. I also remember her role on HAPPY DAYS playing Hildie, the girl that Richie was hoping to "win" in a drag race. Jude The Obscure 05-29-2008, 07:37 PM Maureen was part of the repetory players of both Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Ireneparalegal 05-29-2008, 07:40 PM Maureen was part of the repetory players of both Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Yeah it seems that at that period of time, if you were anyone, you'd appear on both those shows. And if you were a nobody, you made DAMN SURE YOU APPEARED ON BOTH THOSE SHOWS. Look at Charo, it got her a lifetime contract performing in Las Vegas. ;) catlover79 05-29-2008, 11:47 PM Plus the sequel "Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn". "and thank you Jude for telling us the name of the sequel"--why Monika and Irene, it was my pleasure  Yes, Meredith Baxter is in it as well Miss Laurie Partridge herself--Susan Dey :) catlover79 05-30-2008, 08:15 PM "and thank you Jude for telling us the name of the sequel"--why Monika and Irene, it was my pleasure  Yes, Meredith Baxter is in it as well Miss Laurie Partridge herself--Susan Dey :) OK, thank you, Jude. :joke:  Ireneparalegal 05-30-2008, 08:19 PM Yes Jude, thanx for the info. I did not see your post to be honest. I must have overlooked it. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Jude The Obscure 06-04-2008, 07:34 AM ok, Monika and Irene--you two are forgiven.......for now  Ireneparalegal 06-05-2008, 11:18 PM *smiling and doing her Dolly Parton impression to Jude* Jude knows what I mean. Ignatowski 07-28-2011, 04:02 PM Actually, Irene, it was Maureen and Eve themselves who admitted to trying to get by braless as much as possible.......so after finding that out..I had to check out their stories  And as Eve got older, it was harder for her to get away with it  :happyface yeahhh i feel so much better knowing im not the only one that noticed that--even back then I noticed it :D ...and thats not a complaint by any means Bronson 07-28-2011, 07:22 PM Loved Even in the Dawn movies and on the shows she guest starred in. Loved her on Facts of Life, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Wonder Woman. When I saw Season 5, I also thought that they recasted Jan Brady until I saw the names at the end. I don't the light blonde and deep tan look myself. That's one of the reasons why I preferred Bailey to Jennifer on WKRP in Cincinatti. Not just because she's what TVTropes.org call a "Meganakko" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Meganekko)(cute girl with glasses) Loni Anderson looked just weird to me with platinum blonde hair and deep tan. Then I saw her on a Bob Newhart Show episode she did earlier when she had dark hair and I thought that explains it. Obviously that wasn't her real hair color but as a kid I didn't figure that out! In Marcia's case, I don't think it was as severe as that, but I think Jan just looked and dressed better that last season. As hot as Maureen was, she shared her look with Susan Dey and Peggy Lipton, and they were all following The Mamas and the Papas' Michelle Phillips. Eve Plumb circa 1974 is the epitome of mid-Seventies beauty. The era that was post-hippie and pre-disco, Gerald Ford was President and everybody was gearing up for the Bicentennial. A more natural look before Farrah and her feathered locks hit the scene. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6134/5990219559_4821e9f456_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6023/5990818000_0568056f9c_z.jpg |
