i've seen the movie. nothing like the TV show. it's full of sex jokes and drugs (like when "Uncle Jesse" came out the outhouse stoned as a rock) the prequel wasn't any better. what made me mad was the families that brought there kids. i'm not dissing the families, i'm dissing the movie. way to teach our kids values.

I know Ben Jones (Cooter) was a very vocal opponent of the movie. Like I said, I'll take the TV show anyday. Watching it through adult eyes, it reminds me a bit of The Andy Griffith Show. Hey, do you think Enos Strate and Barney Fife were related??

Well, both characters were excitable, eager to please, and hopelessly devoted to a local lady (Daisy and Thelma Lou, of course). Dukes and Andy Griffith were both set in southern towns were everyone knew each other and were eager to help each other out (except for Boss and Rosco, of course).

This is what is so stupid about remaking TV shows as movies. I agree; some work but only if they stay true to the TV show. When they add all the sex and drugs it's kind of like they are making a movie of how they WISH the TV show had been. It ruins it! I completely see what you are saying, BruceWillisFan. "Dukes of Hazzard" was a great show, and I think kids loved it (well I know I did-I was in 7th grade in 1980). It doesn't surprise me that they added a lot of "extra" things and I can see why Ben Jones opposed it. It also wouldn't surprise me if the other cast members were opposed as well. There is NO WAY I would ever consider watching the movie.

My sentiments exactly. When it came out a few summers ago, my cousins and I were very against it and convinced a bunch of people not to go see it. lol.
